As the old saying goes: "A friend will help you move. A good friend will help you move a body." I think you have some good friends there! Not too many RUclipsr's can make content that is diametrically opposed to the channel core and still be totally entertaining! Nailed it!
@WatchJRGo, have you considered turning the other building into self storage? Doesn’t seem that hard, doors are already there. Just need to throw up some dividing walls. Depending on your location, it could be a pretty awesome way to recoup some of the expenses on this property. Love the new content, keep it up! 🤙🏼
These shop videos are a nice change of pace for this channel. After a few months of this content the car videos are going to be epic in this new space!
Way to go! Great project being tackled head-on. Cut the rack in half, then cut half the "shelf levels" out of that rack and you'd have a fantastic engine/trans storage rack. Keep up the good work!
NGL was getting real nervous around 14:30 but I'm glad you had friends to help you out with all that, what a massive undertaking. Now you need some new insulation and paint on those walls plus everything else you're already planning on doing, this place is going to look great when you're done!
That's a baby scrapper you gotta get the 220v scrapper that thing makes it smooth slab again. Can't wait to see the floor sanding and to see it finished. Nice spot btw.
The guy that did some floor work for us last summer had a scraper similar to that but he said it weighed around 400 pounds so it was able to dig under stuff better. After watching 3 of them haul it up the stairs, I believe him.
I worked for a company that did major amounts of epoxy flooring and what we would use was a machine that would shot blast the floors to prep them before the epoxy. This is a faster and better option than sanding. Also with it hooked to a HEPA Vac it reduces your exposure to Silica so you can stay healthy.
Really depends on location, I used these a lot, but where I live, access is usually limited and difficult, so you need to be ready to carry this up a few flights of stairs (and they're heavy as a Motherf&cker)
Much respect for you JR! You dont have a lazy bone in your body! You are in the top 1 percentile of your generation that has that old American work ethic! Those floor scrapers need wider attachment blades so you can cover more ground in a single pass. Also I hope you guys took off you wrist watches before using it because it can ruin a watch with all the sustained virbrations!
wow this is so exciting mate it going to grow your channel so much how i wish could get in there and help you get your new shop sorted being in melbourne australia makes it a bit difficult but if i could i be there 24/7 to help out great things are going to out of this
If you find thick chunks of that old paint layered up, sell it! Fordite is a very popular item for making knife scales, jewelry, etc. Probably not so much what is on the floors, but possibly around the exhaust fans. Just a thought!
Damn... I'll go to sleep and I know my head will spin from watching your video. Your dedication is admirable man. Congrats! And may I suggest another use for one of the buildings? A strip joint what else?😂
JR estimates at the start of the video: 5 hours. Thirty minutes later: All day. At the end of the video after 18 hours: We need a second pass because of the rack we couldn't move. That is not easy to do no matter what you use (have done this myself) but you appreciate the appearance when you are done.
If you ever decide to grind down that concrete Diamabrush has an attachment for floor buffers that will take it down. We used it on an old church I turned into a dojo. They had glued carpet to the concrete. Took a few days to do around 2000sq ft but it would take epoxy nicely.
How bout "Carporium" for a name of the place. And the floor scraper brought back a lot of memories (I did flooring for 20 + years) those things are a beast and just kill u. Looking good JR. Keep it up
I love this video the most entertaining and informative podcast on RUclips JR u are the man 👏👏👏👏 u have a great crew!!!! I can't wait until you finish the shop to see how it looks U are inspirational 2 me 2 have my dream 2 start my own man cave garage keep up the good work 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏!!!!!!!
Make sure you check floor sander rental bits that do the cutting. They usually put less than half of them on for customers so they do not kill their floor because its always the first time they ised one,but it obviously works alot less efficient. Seems like you could handle the full cutting power
You need to shot blast the floor. The commercial equipment is called a blastrac. As a young man i installed Millions of square feet of epoxy flooring and coating. If you sand the concrete it will make it too smooth. For epoxy to stay down on the concrete you need a rough sand paper surface for the epoxy to anchor into. If you do. It properly clean and prepare the concrete the epoxy will peal off in sheets.
JR's GO Shop is looking good! All of the excrement jobs like that at work. Always flowed down hill to me, and I got stuck with them. Luckily, I'm a boring person so I am good with tedious jobs. If I was closer (Tennessee) I would come help out.
I am going to give you a tip on tool rental and equipment rental. Get a one day rental. Pick it up after noon on Friday. Most places are closed Sat & Sunday. Get it back to them before noon Monday. 2 days for the price of one. Rental places sometimes don't tell many people that. But you may need to make a reservation.
Man! Thats awesome. Cant wait to see what this thing is going to look like. Need some Watch JR Go stuff for the huge shop. Maybe do an autograph special edition???
JR. Proud of you bro. Good content coming.... Idea 💡 Totally need to have Rawlings come up there to give you the stamp of approval. Gas Money of Kansas coming soon. High-end builds to come.
The blade on the machine was probably toast which is why it wasn't cutting properly. Hard work on everyone's back but it looks soooo much better. Keep at it and have lots on Aleve on hand to pass out to the crew.
I once had a trade show blanket membership and I went to the World of Concrete show in Vegas. Based on the tools and techniques I saw, I would've used the scraper to prep spots and then resurfaced the floor.
That must have been some kind of machine shop. That junk on the floor is years of built up crud. The floor scraper turned out to be a pretty good idea. I guess you have ideas for cleaning the floor before sealing it?
That stuff looks like spilled cement. I had an area like that which was caused by moisture penetration and then freezing. But when top layer was removed it was rough concrete under it. Looked like solid gravel. But you're getting a smooth surface underneath, which doesn't seem like freeze damage but spillage of grout or cement. That epoxy floor covering is expensive. Like $70 a gallon. And it will take a lot to do a floor that large. Painting it is a lot cheaper option, and has decent results. They have that hot tire resistant type made for garages. Usually in gray.
Hint on getting heavy equipment moving on a dolly is to pull the dolly the direction you plan to go before setting the weight so the swivels are already going the correct direction.
I work for an electrical company in Newton, let me know if you would like us to come check out your electrical and add those LED lights! Cheers from Wichita. Also if you need another pair of hands to help just let me know, I’m free on weekends.
shoutout to all your solid friends always willing to give a hand
For $10 an hour.
abidamn nope. Just helping out.
If I wanted paid it would be a lot more than $10 an hour too 😂
Friends help friends move, real friends help friends move bodies
Hopefully JR at least feeds them.
Dude I'm loving these video updates on the new shop! Congrats on your purchase and can't wait to see it all fixed up!

Any friend that helps with roofing, plumbing or moving, is a good friend indeed
You absolute madman, you made a video about floor scraping. Love it. Brings back memories.
That Midwestern work ethic ! 👍 Friends and neighbors pitching in, it’s a beautiful thing!
I can't believe you got the old Kansas Metal place. I used to buy my steel from there. Can't believe their gone.
Cut up that steel racking and scrap it. Steel is $200 a ton
The move of the rack was iffy as F.
Put it up for sale, you never know if not as per above...
Or cut it down and use it to build something out of it like the second floor.
Repurpose it as a support for second floor offices
@@rsprockets7846 but if it isn’t structural steel it would be against building code to make the second floor out of it. They would need to use I beams
For sale yes, who knows some company needs one like that. But i can imagine its good in parts too f.e. to build a frame for cabins or truckbeds etc.
I wish I was your friend so I could help. I'm really happy for you and think this is a game changer for your channel.
Way to go! Great project being tackled head-on. Cut the rack in half, then cut half the "shelf levels" out of that rack and you'd have a fantastic engine/trans storage rack. Keep up the good work!
Who knew your friends were part time millwrights!
👌 Nice job moving that steel rack safely!
Love to see the teamwork and everyone chipping in. And that scraping of the concrete was oddly satisfying to watch 😆 great progress JR
I haven't used one of those scrapers in years. The last one I used was like a riding lawn mower and had a 36" blade.
NGL was getting real nervous around 14:30 but I'm glad you had friends to help you out with all that, what a massive undertaking. Now you need some new insulation and paint on those walls plus everything else you're already planning on doing, this place is going to look great when you're done!
Have to admire you work ethic, JR. This video had a dystopian Blade Runner feel with the flickering lights and grubby set!
That's a baby scrapper you gotta get the 220v scrapper that thing makes it smooth slab again. Can't wait to see the floor sanding and to see it finished. Nice spot btw.
Love the new place and the sweat equity that you're putting into it.
As for a name: This Old Building? I'm sure PBS won't mind.
This is going to be a great shop! Name it JR Go “we fix your mistakes” You’re a Jack of all trades.
So proud of you dude.... makes me want to move to Wichita and get my hands dirty with you
The guy that did some floor work for us last summer had a scraper similar to that but he said it weighed around 400 pounds so it was able to dig under stuff better. After watching 3 of them haul it up the stairs, I believe him.
Lol seeing that rach move reminds me of mega movers, props for your brother and friends that are helping so much can't wait to see end product!
You are making real progress. Thanks for sharing this new adventure.

I am glad that rack did not fall. Great job
This season of WatchJRGo is a good one
Paint the walls before you epoxy the floors. 👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Start from the top, down.
1000% I remember driving paint all over my works floor with the sky jack when were painting the walls. Luckily we epoxyed the floor after 😂
Nice, this is what teamwork is all about!
Gees, where do you get friends like this? I can't even pay people to work this hard, friends or not.
Have a youtube channel with 250k+ subs?
@@AgtWashingtub Nah its always this way on JR's channel...he has a cool network of friends willing to help, lucky guy.
A crew was doing the floors in the hospital I work in and they had a zamboni looking machine that had a 3 foot blade that scraped the tile up.
Really depends on location, I used these a lot, but where I live, access is usually limited and difficult, so you need to be ready to carry this up a few flights of stairs (and they're heavy as a Motherf&cker)
I love your vids! They help me get through whats going on in my life! So thankful
Hey John Ross- Congratulations on the shop!!! With that rented tool- you should have taken a air grinder and put a small edge on that tool’s blade !
JR getting a ton of sweat equity from the crew...cool to see.
Nice to see the progress JR, thanks for taking us along! 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Solid friends indeed!

Wish I lived in the area, I'd be helping everyday! But a big shout out from us here in Lancaster (Buffalo NY.) Big fan of the channel.
I really like these fixing/cleanup shop videos!!!
Kudos to you guys! That is a lot of work! I've used that scrapper before and its painful after a while. Good Job!!!
You are a lucky man, you have many good friends!
wow this is so exciting mate it going to grow your channel so much how i wish could get in there and help you get your new shop sorted being in melbourne australia makes it a bit difficult but if i could i be there 24/7 to help out great things are going to out of this

Famous last words.

Awesome to have some real friends to help you.. its a sign that you are a good person that they want to do as much as they are doing to help you. 👍👍
Damn... I'll go to sleep and I know my head will spin from watching your video. Your dedication is admirable man. Congrats!

Looks like JR has read "Tom Sawyer" when Tom had to paint Ms.Polly's fence.

WatchJRrenovate.... Congrats on the new structure. Have been wondering what you're up to...glad you found such a cool and spacious building!

Awesome to see all of your friends coming out, that’s what it’s all about ✌️
When you're ready to epoxy let me know, I'll come help. We can collaborate on a video.
Today on WatchJRgo, we mow the floor :D Watching this place getting cleaned up is just awesome. Some great friends you got there dude!
I’ve been waiting for this all day!
so cool to see decent folks have good things happen. good luck with the building-VERY cool.

Thats cool. I never knew there was such a thing as a floor scraper like that.
I've used that same model to scrape up some lanoleum tiles glued to the floor, way more efficient than hand scraping.

Ok this is part of the reason you got for a great price. No one wanted to do that. OMG that's a lot of work. Looks good.
I have been refreshing for the past 30 minutes for a JR video. Yeah!!!
I love seeing these sort of videos where it's just JR fixing up the building
Looking forward to a nation-wide meet n greet post Covid for the first annual WatchJrGo cars and coffee at the complex!
That’s cool that your friends are helping. I’d recommend wearing a particulate filter
Man! Thats awesome. Cant wait to see what this thing is going to look like. Need some Watch JR Go stuff for the huge shop. Maybe do an autograph special edition???
This is gonna be incredible. Excited to see this transform
JR. Proud of you bro. Good content coming.... Idea 💡 Totally need to have Rawlings come up there to give you the stamp of approval. Gas Money of Kansas coming soon. High-end builds to come.
Great project, looking forward to the Kar Kastle
Hi JR . This camera your using . Incredible quality. Wow . Best lve seen.
I love these renovation videos. keep em coming
Looking good. Should sell the rack for scrap.
Also would keep the floor finishing for last when the rest of the reno is done.
The blade on the machine was probably toast which is why it wasn't cutting properly. Hard work on everyone's back but it looks soooo much better. Keep at it and have lots on Aleve on hand to pass out to the crew.
Did you test the flooring for friable asbestose ?
What a handy scrapping tool , never seen one here in the uk
Keep going john, you are a brave man!
Can't wait for more vids on the warehouse. Keep up the great work!
I once had a trade show blanket membership and I went to the World of Concrete show in Vegas. Based on the tools and techniques I saw, I would've used the scraper to prep spots and then resurfaced the floor.
I looked at that rack and saw the makings of a (several) frame jigs for building your own chassis
Well done with the new shop. Thumbs up and thanks for sharing your experience with this project. WOW'S now what is next????
Coming right along!! Keep pushing JR! Nice work brotha!
i’m going to love all the renovation stuff, i definitely think a lot of people will too! cool vid man
That must have been some kind of machine shop. That junk on the floor is years of built up crud. The floor scraper turned out to be a pretty good idea. I guess you have ideas for cleaning the floor before sealing it?
I think you should use the steel rack as the supports and foundation for the loft you want to install. Seems strong enough.
Well, John I have to give you credit.... Nice work so far.
This build series is amazing!
Can't get enough of watching this warehouse transformation!!! 🤘

This is the definition of sweat equity! Nice job.
Wow, that was a big day, never underestimate concrete work.
