I use these 2. 1) When I am new to learning something I tend to double check or tripple check myself which can be time consuming. The reason I do this is because I want to get things right first time. (This is a weakness but its an obvious one everyone has which is likely to improve with time) 2) In the past I have taken rejection personally. Working In sales and cold calling clients you can not take sale rejections personally because It Is more important to stay motivated. I now know from experience you can not get every sale on a cold call. The key is to talk to the right people. These two have worked well for me in the past.
I recently used a number of the tips on this channel and got myself a new job in under a month, not sure if anyone reads these comments but Iam grateful that Antony has put this channel online ! So this is just a quick note to sat thanks as it really helped, after all the last interview I had was nearly 9 years ago.
I used this video and the other series by the same person as my only guide to prepare for my first interview after my graduation having had no prior experience. I used all that I learned here to so impress my interviewers that I was later made a job offer which I never accepted because the pay was not great. My second interview elsewhere produced the same result. During the interview, I could see through the body language of my interviewers that they were highly impressed by my performance. I got the job within days. Thanks you so much Anthony Stagg for posting this video and the other series. You are God sent.
Good advice. We would also just add relax and consider it a two way process. You need to know if its somewhere you want to work as well. This helps to create a good flow of conversation. Good luck everyone!
In the past my weakness was a public speaking, however, I got rid of this point by practicing and delivering some speeches. Which enhanced my ability to communicate perfectly with people. Tomorrow is my interview, I am not afraid 👍🏻.
I want to thank you so much! i watched all your videos on your page! it was super helpful! i went on a interview tuesday and got a call back friday! i used all the information u said, used my history>experience>education>skills!
When it comes to weakness , I say unorganized, its seems to be the easiest because the way I say I improve is that i volunteer for filing and grading with a teacher.
The "weakness" answer should NEVER be a NEGATIVE/Counter-productive weakness. Examples, "I don't like to work with others, hard to be punctual, I procrastinate, etc." These answers will for sure tank your interview.
there isn't really a positive weakness (unless you're the kind of guy that says 'i'm too perfectionist' as a weakness). the key is how you ellaborate the answer, which is the point of the video. but yeah, i wouldn't use the examples in the video either.
Example: (I'm an introvert in nature which some people may see me as being shy. I counteract those assumptions by contributing my concerns and opinions under the right circumstances. I Take more of an initiative to take on leadership roles in group assignments...).
TheTakaraputo The "introvert" example was a good example! Another good example would be, "A weakness of mine would have to be patience, I have a hard time not getting things done in a prompt and efficient manner. In many instances, I take on the obligations of others if I feel like things won't get done BEFORE a deadline is met...." any 'weakness' can be turned around into something positive as long as you back it up with positive scenarios and attributes. Just don't say things that can't be used in a positive light or the same canned answers such as, "I'm a perfectionist...."
Thank you so much for the free tutorial. Had an interview today after listening to all of your series. I feel very good about it, and even the interviewer said he thought I did great! Fingers crossed
If a candidate said that to me in an interview (referring to results), then I would explain to them that as they have already resolved the issue, it's not a weakness anymore as it's in the past, therefore can they try again and explain a weakness they have. These are all BS questions anyway and I avoid asking them when I can, as they do not pertain to the ability of a person to do the job. I wish recruiters and hiring managers would drop all of these BS type questions as in the end, they just end up employing people who are good at interviews, whereas the people who could actually do a good job, are told they are unsuccessful. The whole thing needs an overhaul.
The challenge for interviewers playing the role of clinical psychologist is to understand the 'weight' of the weakness, its place in the person's psychological makeup and its interactional risks and how they are addressed. Also, weaknesses are to a variable degree circumstantial..which is why we work in teams. And what type of weakness: personal, work skill (so I don't apply for jobs I cannot do), intellectual, family upbringing. Its hard to know what this question can do except that people who ask it don't have a clue about conducting a profitable behaviourl interview, or how to follow up referees. Nevertheless, I've got a 'good' weakness for interviews with these dopes. If you really are interested in testing the candidate ask about a situation where they failed to meet their own objectives and what the did about it.
Short answer, "I'm impatient with slow process and situations that lack a sense of urgency. Since I place a high priority on getting things done it's frustrating when I cannot effect situations beyond of my control."
I always get chance for an interview if i drop off my Resume in person and always introduce myself by giving a short interview! but still could not get a job :(
Boobs are my weakness. My strengths uhh I work at something until its perfect and most people don't care if its done right as long as you can blame others for the failure.
Yes, it has to definitely be relevant to the work you are seeking. You don't want to speak of poor selling skills when you are interviewing for a technical position that does not involved any selling whatsoever. Tailor responses accordingly and appropriately.
Thank you for your great tips, but your screen is a bit difficult to follow and understand with the voices (visual and audio are not going together? I am not sure if it is because English is my second language or not). I am not sure if you can create a powerpoint for each point that you are dealing with or not. THX! Thank you for your help! Have a good day/week! Love and prayers, Kyoung "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." Php 4:13 Nihil Sine Deo = Nothing without God!!!
Honestly, anyone that hires knows all these bullshit tricks and tips. Not to say don't prepare but if you think the interviewer hasn't heard this nonsense before you are delusional. And yes, I have conducted interviews before.
So what type of answer would you accept during your interviewing process? Can you tell if they are being genuine or just "b.s.ing" as you so clearly stated.
Quin Foster If I ask for a weakness and someone tries to turn it around like it is a strength, I immediately tell them to not give me the answer they rehearsed but a genuine weakness related to the position. I fired one person two weeks into a job that claimed to be familiar with safety protocol when they weren't. If they had brought that up in the interview I would have been able to get them trained to code on it.

Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge. These are excellent techniques to use and I will be applying them.

+TheAlanakane by that example, you mean to say it is a good or bad example?

should the weakness be relevent to the professional field??

My greatest weakness is bullets.
Every time I state a weakness, I instantly fail the interview. I am told this is the reason why.
The answer by a fresh graduate may differ from that by someone who is looking for a new job.

How in hells name are we supposed to remember answers that are so long?

If an interviewer asks me this question, I don't want the job.
My weakness: Having strengths that are too strong
Organized*
But the interviewer asked you what your greatest weakness is, not what it was.
Not answering the question seems somewhat dishonest.
your weakness must be useful for employers .
If you say you have no weakness you really wont get the job?
That guy’s arm must be very very sore from pointing for so long.
i say public speaking
more WAR
My weakness: I care too much.
Bachelor Frog * insert sad violin*
