I don't know why everyone talks of being a famous designer... I want to learn how to be a seamstress of that talent!!!!! The sewing was absolutely completely stunning! What they achieved with that garment is art! Jeez, and I used to think I could sew. Ha! Thanks for posting!
John Galliano's design is just...genius!! I notice the little detail on the black sheer fabric that had little jagged edge... His attention to detail combine with many things make all of his designs very stunning and unique... I'm waiting for your comeback John Galliano!!!
Exquisite refinement doesn't begin to describe the delicate beauty and artistry involved in making a Dior Haute Couture gown. Few women around the world, they say less than 200? are couture clients. This was spectacular. The seamstresses, pattern makers, embroiderers, fabric houses and the "petit mains" are the unsung stars of this art form.
this dress took about 500 hours to make.and i think it was about 166.5 meters of fabric. it is on display at the royal onterio museum. it is absolutly magnificent in person i only wish i could own this dress
Thank you for posting this video!! Thank you amazing people who make couture COUTURE! Lovely and educational video of couture behind the scenes :) So glad and thankful for people who film this video! THANK YOU!!!
So beautiful. I find myself tearing up over couture! But it's great to see how many people are employed doing wonderful things. And young people too - I was surprised. I thought the seam(workers)stresses would all be over 65. I don't care at all about clothes myself - but I love the beauty and creativity of the process.
The dream, effort, the struggle, the care, the many parts, the dedication, the many hands, the infinite process, the layers, the thousand of pins, the rigor, the obsession, the vision, the time invested, the lives involved...the dream Dior.
This is what a Haute Couture looks like, not the Dior these days. Galliano is the real essence of this house, and with his departure, Dior was torn apart.
Aizen Knaik i couldn't agree more. galliani was the one who put dior at the top of the map. galliano is the sole reason we have dior the great fashion house and its unfathomable as to why lvmh would let this genius go.
The funny, yet dispiriting thing is, I'm sure the atelier staff and all their savoir-faire are still there, exactly the same. But under Maria Grazia-Chiuri, there will be little need for their technical brilliance as it was under Galliano. Galliano really pushed them to exploit their expertise to the full.
Dandylion Precisely! When you look at this collection, not only is it aesthetically pleasing, the techniques and the savoir faire go beyond the imagination. They layered 7~8 different layers of tulle on the fabric to give it the ombrè quality instead of handpainting it. They pushed themselves beyond their limits every time. But mgc always has the same tulle dresses and the same boring techniques and silhouettes used over and over again its exhausting.
All this hard work. So payed off right. I love your work so much. Ty for the videos and God Bless You all for dedicating your lives to fashion for US!!!
What an incredible amount of work to create something that looks so effortlessly magnificent! It's like a composer writing a symphony and then getting an orchestra to realize it!
Cuánto trabajo y dedicación puesta en cada vestido felicidades a cada persona que se encuentra trabajando con tanta dedicación y entrega son un gran ejemplo a seguir.
I’m holding my breath through this! 😀. It’s absolutely amazing! These seamstresses are profoundly talented and accomplished! I hope they are paid commensurate with these skills. What a devastating garment. It’s divine!
What John Galliano did for each collections reflected the spirit of Dior, in cut, in style, in craftmanships. He is skillful incorporate the Dior style into clothes.
I made a dress with a skirt similar to this in beige and black tule for my third year of fashion school (inspired on this dress of course) it took 7 meters of fabric, 3 months of work and it cost a lot of money for a broke student. The work these women and men do is absolutely stunning, every piece placed with architectural precision. Just exquisite.
As someone who has worked in couture all her life I can say that this shows the amount of work that actually goes into each garment. It doesn't quite show the passion of each individual who participates as couture really cannot earn money despite the price tags. Couture houses make money on accessories and perfumes mainly.
The couturieres or seamstresses are the REAL ARTISTS!!! Even in the beginning Christian would dream/sketch it but then his director of design and teams of talented couturieres would figure out how to construct it, mold it, shape it into masterpieces. Bring his visions to life. Bravo!!
So SATISFYING to watch this kind of video . I know sewing very well already and I'm learning tambour embroidery so I can make my own haute couture outfit .
The first time I saw this video I feel all my body shaking like an electricity ´cause of the power of the red color mixed with the black one. I cry when the model was walking and I feel all the dreams of Christian Dior in one dress. I hope someday i´ll be on those runways shows. Congrats Christian Dior...sincerely...Julio César.
True Dior Haute Couture design! The signature line is stunning with these artisans' works and easy to adjust the size for the customer. Miss Galliano in Dior.
Love the video. Love seeing the craftsmanship going into this dress. Love the editing. ... HATE THE DRESS! It's over-conceptualized to the 10th degree.
this is ridiculously beautiful. I admire these people a lot more than many so called artists .
I could watch these kind of videos all day long
Lol, this is exactly what I do when I'm off homework
you sound like my kind of person
Hank McAff what is she doing at 7:40?
shame they don't do them for costumes in the theatres
I'm sorry, 7:40? That's the end of the video Do you like this video as much as i do?

Sandi Benedum yes be more like Balenciaga, Vionnet, Chanel and McQueen they all know how to sew well.

Verdade!
I don't need further explanations to be sure that this is the best clothing brand after i saw this video simply wonderful

you mean 16,5 meters...
only 500 hours ....huh...show us what a 2000-hour-piece-of-haute-couture like !
I wonder how much it weighs? It must feel otherworldly to wear. It’s like a fantasy.
you definitely appreciate the clothes far more when you watch them being made.
This video makes you appreciate hard work and is truly such an inspiration
I cried while watching this. Truly inspirational!!

Such a precision work of art! So many people and processes involved. Incredible 💜
This explains the price tags...
hahahhahahahaha it's true kkkkkkk
This piece easily in the range from 300k-600k USD
Alexia Prado 100% agree
Only super rich women buy these dresses anyway, for the kind of parties and events that they go to.
Actually this dress is not for sale

What is the final, classical work/orchestral piece? Vivaldi?

Just. I can't. No words. STUNNING work. True ART.
The workers also deserve a credit coz they put alot of efforts while the designer just only do the sketching & colouring on the paper.....
Nathaniel Shayne Tagilala It’s non-negotiable. Even Raf Simons himself said that he is nothing without workers and their labour is priceless

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this video. And in full volume of course.❤️
