Jay, and after watching your latest video I know how you feel about the cold. Gary, I seldom pay attention to the long-term forecasts, especially this far out.
G'day David..... What a good trip with you this morning along your Jurassic loop. Thank you. It's warming up down here in my part of Oz..... you're welcome to as much of the forthcoming HOT as you can ship over to your patch. I like Spring and Autumn best, so a couple of delightful months of my lake edge path is ahead. In summer one has to keep an eye open for snakes across the path. Winter is often a cold southerly.... so now is " good triking time ".. And you surely are in fine shape. Good on ya, David. Best wishes, ... Ray , in Oz.
G'day to you Ray! Yes, we all like to get out a bit more when our "ideal temperature range" comes about. But riding anytime is still good. Watch out for those trail serpents!
I understand how you feel about the end of summer! But living just a little north and east of you in West Michigan, I have learndx to enjoy what each season presents.
I was trying to edit my response and find myself writing new! Anyway, each has its beauty-but cold weather can linger a bit long for my taste! We continue to pray for your healing and well-being daily, David. We are always happy to see you've released another video!
Hi Phyllis! Last winter I was thinking of trying snowshoeing. I never got around to it and now unfortunately, I have a tumor in my leg that makes walking painful so I don't think snowshoeing is in the cards for me right now. When I was a kid I used to play hockey outside for hours and the cold never bothered me. Now I can usually tolerate the cold but other than when it first comes down and looks beautiful, I really don't like the snow.
Thanks so much Phyllis. I always love hearing from you and the others when I do post a new video. At this point I feel like we have a real community here and I love that.
Yeah, you guys have been getting some serious heat. We have friends in Palm Springs and it's been unbearably hot there. But again,, it beats snow and below zero temperatures.
Southern California typically has low humidity. High humidity w/high temperature WAY more of a hindrance to exercising than high temperature at low humidity! Not even comparable...
I’ve come to find a new appreciation for the summer heat, with the new trike you always have a cooling breeze to temper the heat on the DPRT! Luckily I love the Fall time as well but have you noticed the trees changing already??? It’s weeks ahead of time for the leaves to change already!! We’re still waiting for Debbie’s trike but I’m ready to ride daily!!! God Bless my friend!
I have noticed the changing trees! I thought it might have been my color blindness but I was pretty sure I saw some changing colors. By my house there are a couple trees that have already shed some leaves. We'll have to try and meet up at Rt. 60 one day and ride together.
I used to play some golf and I remember friends having orange golf balls. I could be standing right over one of them on the fairway and I couldn't see it.
Nice ride David. You’re looking pretty strong. It’s been a great summer here in New England and it’s winding down now. I love riding through the fall. The temps are the best. Then we get into the fleece clothing season and I’m out of here. Off to Florida. Stay well and keep riding. Congrats on the upcoming grandchild. They are life’s reward. The most precious part of life.
Hi Mark and thank you! Some of the trees here are changing colors already and it's really early, several weeks before that normally happens. Not sure what's causing it but it's definitely a reminder that fall is coming - even though today it's going to be close to 90° here. And yes, our first grandchild will absolutely make this winter a great one!
Thanks again for your thoughts, David. Yes, summer is glorious. I guess we just have to treasure each day as it comes, as I know you do. Stay strong and keep riding and sharing. 😁
Yes, you guys have really been in the melting pot this year. However, I bet if you were suddenly back in the cold you'd think it was okay for a day and then be yearning for the heat again.
Our Costco had Christmas stuff out the third week of July. We prefer riding our trikes when temperatures are in the mid 60s to mid 70s that’s perfect for us sometimes we have to wait for the cooler evening temperatures but then we turn on the lights and enjoy that as well take care.
Man, mid-July is really ridiculously early. And the mid 60s and 70s are great riding temps as well. Actually, I'm good with anything about 60 although I do ride in considerably colder temperatures. But I still love the summer heat.
I love the summer too.The fall I’d nice to except winter come next. I hate real cold weather because I had to work in it.I love a short winter end after Jan first lmao. Love to move to somewhere warm but my family is up here and I love my grandkids. No way I would move away from them.
Yeah I can take the heat and humidity over the white stuff any day. I saw my cardiologist a few weeks back and he was happy with my mileageand surprised the humidity doesn't bother me. I really want to move someplace warmer...after my mother passes.
Orange leaves and grass huh? How about blues, skies and ocean? I’m trying to imagine riding through a lush orange rain forest. Again you remind us how much we take for granted. Yes, the grandchild is a wonderful reason to stay put. Congratulations future Tutu Kane.
Bob, yes, orange leaves and grass, but in the winter when the grass is brown, or so I'm told it's brown, it does look green to me. Personally, I think this is a long-standing plot to drive me insane. I believe I see the proper colors and everyone is lying to me as to what they are. Gary, so you see no colors at all?
Looks like a really nice ride, David. I've ridden a lot this summer and I'm ready for some fall weather. I can't estimate how much riding I'll do in the winter; will have to wait and see.
In elementary school (1st and 2nd grades), I got in trouble before realization of need for thick glasses, being left-handed, and color weak eyes! They did not realize that I could not see the blackboard. They forced me to hold both pencils and crayons with right hand. I got in trouble for using wrong color crayons! Still left-handed here!
I'm a lefty as well although they never tried to change me early on in school. My mom was left handed and when she started school they very actively worked on switching her to become right handed. As a result, she became very ambidextrous.
This is my first summer with my trike so it’s been great. Like you, I mainly ride DPRT and NBT. I liked last fall too but prefer 70-85 degrees. Over 90 this gal is staying home. Or go early or late. I am hoping to ride longer this year though. I need to buy some gear for that. We shall see! Love your videos. I have started to take some of the branches off the main trail just to see where they go even if it’s just a parking lot. I think even with a grandchild you should consider renting a place someplace warm for a month or two. Always near a bike trail of course😋
Hi Colleen. There are several factors that determine how long I can ride on the DPRT : how much snow there is, ability to get there, trail condition (it can get very sloppy which is difficult to ride) and to a less extent, temperature. With the NBT you don't have to worry about the trail condition which is good. So we'll see what winter brings and ride when we can. Say hi and give Dottie a treat for me!
The opening song is called Summer Symphony Ball and it's written by Sir Cubworth. The second song is also written by him and is titled Butterflies in Love.
Summer RULES in my book!
Clearly you and I are correct on this topic! 😎
Yeah, sounds of silence accentuated with green. Nice. Spring and summer are my favorites, especially for cycling. Nice video.
Thanks Curt and if I had to pick two favorite riding seasons, I'd also opt for spring and summer.
Fingers crossed for a mild autumn and winter.
Been hearing a harsh winter is likely!

Winter riding if you do happen to do it (nice temp wise) is kind of depressing. I'm with you .... I don't wan to say goodbye to summer as well.
I do some riding in the winter, but there's nothing like summer as far as I'm concerned.
Watched again.
An orange fruit thrown onto a green lawn would be in full camouflage here too.
I used to play some golf and I remember friends having orange golf balls. I could be standing right over one of them on the fairway and I couldn't see it.
I always regret the ending of summer. I do ride more, however, in the fall. Temperatures are a bit lower which I like as I'm getting older.

As you know David, I love the Florida heat. So happy to see you out riding Brother. Another month of Summer, enjoy!

I'm a warm weather fan too. However the ridiculous over 100 degree temperatures in DFW for months is getting a bit old. Im ready for cooler weather.
