    Lisa is an interesting one. She's a good example of a mainstream pop artist that has a lot of depth to her musicality. She started out in an obscure post high-school rock band, that did a handful of singles and broke up after a few years of not really going anywhere. Right around the time her first band broke up, someone picked her up as a backup singer and understudy for an anime singer role in the 'Angel Beats' anime series. Part of the way into the series, her character got written into the primary role. Her musical role in the successful anime series, got turned into a successful live concert tour and singing career. She has been one of the most successful Japanese pop artists over a span of over a decade.
    Apparently, she also took extremely well to on-the-job training. She's known to be very meticulous about preparation and very particular about enunciation. People pick that up right away. She's also a very versatile singer that can adapt to a wide range of style and emotion context.

    In the movie theres a lot of heroism. But also the death of a beloved character thats emotional.
    Often in my opinion very good music in many anime series and movies. Especially last 10 years. And Lisa has done much of it. Beside her own music.
    She is always an artist that puts her heart out there, and into the music.
    Thankyou for a great reaction.
    Love from Stockholm Sweden/ J

    "motto" with a doubled consonant, would be spelled in Japanese as 「もっと」. That first character is "mo", the second character is "to". What that third character is, is something akin to a "rest" in music. It is usually described as something that doubles the consonant of the next character, but in practice actually creates a sort of quarter rest, with a bit more staccato on the next syllable. Japanese is a very rhythmic language one you get into it. It has a very natural cadence.

    • @weinkuehler
      @weinkuehler 2 месяца назад +5

      Actually the second character is the "rest" and the third is the "(t)to" 😉 Sorry for being a smarta**...😅

    • @chriswalker9828
      @chriswalker9828 2 месяца назад +1

      @@weinkuehler Correct, the second character, in other contexts, is the "tsu" character, but when it is used like it is here (denoted by the smaller character っ vs. つ) it means the next sound (consonant) is doubled, so [もっと] would be "motto" and [もと] would just be "moto" with the pronunciation emphasized by that slight 'rest' when speaking {mot-to}

    Japanese is an incredibly melodic language in and of itself. It makes Japanese music exceptional in its rhythmic patterns, pitch variations, and the way syllables flow. For context, the vowel sounds in Japanese are あ (a), い (i), う (u), え (e), and お (o) (pronounced ah, ii, oo, eh, oh). Check out Ado or Yoasobi for more titans of Japanese music

    So a bit about THE FIRST TAKE. They don’t say it but it’s very likely a channel affiliated with Sony Music which is why they use Sony headsets and potentially other audio equipment I’m not familiar with. I also believe all of the artists that appear on the channel are signed under Sony. I could be wrong but it was that way for a while at least.
    Oh also at the end where Lisa spoke a bit about some hardship, in 2018 she needed surgery done on her vocal cords and she stated she needed to learn how to sing again after the surgery.
    I believe there was a concert around that time where she was booed at. If I recall she said she forgot the lyrics to one of her songs (or another reason) but she couldn’t perform one of her songs.

    I found a new singer I'm sure you haven't heard from Brazil. She has one of the most beautiful and smoothest voices. Her name, Ystefani Oliveira she's on RUclips but has hours long live streams on tiktok. She's so popular she always has at least 1.5K viewers and as much as 4K viewers. I saw her gifted over 400K points in about 1.5 hours. I don't know what that is in cash but she's raking it in. She's very beautiful and from what I've heard she speaks 5 languages. Her native language of Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, and English. If you don't listen to her you're seriously missing out on a very beautiful voice.

    If you want another dive into Japanese Anime adjacent culture, you should absolutely react to Hoshimachi Suisei singing her song Stellar Stellar, also on The First Take!
    I think you'll love her voice!
    And if you decide to do some more research on her, I'd recommend two videos - "The story of Hoshimachi Suisei" (which is a little older now, and some information needs to be updated, but it's still very good) and "The Abandoned Vtuber that made it" which is a bit newer but shorter.

    So, on the topic of anime: unlike animated shows here where you typically have about 3 distinct classes of shows: children's shows, all ages shows, and adult oriented shows, anime is more diverse.
    There are spots dramas, romance, psychological thrillers, mecha anime, music anime, slice of life, fantasy, magical girl, horror, and so much more.
    There's a lot of anime aimed at demographics not typically served by western animated tv shows.

    There are so many great Japanese artists, that are mostly unknown in the west.
    From a vocal perspective, I would suggest a very interesting one would be ADO.
    Great songs, that illustrate what she can do are "Aishite Ashite, Ashite" and "Tot Musica".

    react to Lisa's song "Guerenge"! It's the opening song of the first season of the anime Demon Slayer. The movie "mugen train" takes place after the first season. In the second season they put the film divided into episodes and it is more complete story in my opinion. I’m saying this in case you want to watch it. 😉😊❤‍🔥

    If you ever give up opera singing, you could become a phonologist. Standard Japanese has just 5 vowels. English has 16, even more in some dialects. Words are broken into moras which are like musical beats, each one is pronounced the same length of time. All moras are vowels or consonant-vowel pairs except for 'n' used as a final consonant. As noted some consonants can doubled up as in motto which is pronounced differently from moto. It also has long vowels which are said twice as long. Biiru (beer) versus biru (building).
    It can also de-voice a vowel, you still make the mouth shape but there is no vocalization.
    English speakers have a hard time hearing the difference from no vowel at all. Japanese speakers in turn have trouble speaking English, they put in vowels like there would be in Japanese.
    There is no stress on a syllable like English. It does have pitch accent where parts of the word are said with a higher or lower pitch. That is how you tell 'hashi' (bridge) apart from 'hashi' (chopsticks). Unfortunately, there are no pitch accent markers and pitch accent can vary by dialect.
    Japanese traditional singing uses strong vibrato. Here is the Japanese national anthem sung a cappella by Yuko Suzuhana: ruclips.net/video/BygzQquLdoc/видео.html
