    Can only imagine how many innocent people have suffered financial, mental and physical hardship by this man. The entire department is most likely just as corrupt as this man.     If this "Officer" does not cause you to fear for your life knowing he is carrying a gun and a badge, then you deserve what is coming to you.
    His third grade logic level and inability to reason is frightening. His failure to protect a citizen's Constitutional Rights for the sake of some unknown person's "feeeeelings" about a sign is prima facie evidence that he is not fit for the job, is a liar, an oath breaker, and a danger to the community.

    When I worked in management for UPS, I had to learn a bunch of safety stuff and be able to recite pages of stuff. These cops should be REQUIRED to learn the constitution and bill of rights, as a requirement. The cop is playing extremely dumb when being asked questions, but he sure expects immediate clear answers to his question of the public. POS.

      Back in 2020 I researched police training times. Philadelphia had the longest at 3 months and the majority of the country required 6 weeks. I think nationwide there is a 6 month training requirement to become a licensed barber

    SC ruled many years ago that a person can get up on a soapbox in a city park and cuss all day long.They said if you are offended, it is YOUR responsibility to leave the area, not the speaker.       I have a good friend who is a New Hampshire State trooper, during the academy they are told they will not be learning the constitutional amendments. They told them, if they know the constitution, their qualified immunity could be taken away in court. Then at the end they make him take the oath to the Constitution they are not teaching.

      I just read some very disturbing case law. According to a 2015 SCOTUS ruling, police can essentially search and seize based on ignorance of the law. For instance, say they perform an illegal traffic stop. Anything they come across in a person's car as a result of that stop can be used as evidence in an arrest.
      This is absolutely insane.

      You aren't wrong. In order to strip QI, an attorney does need to establish the rights violation was intentional, and not a mistake, or done out of ignorance. They are trained on this, and know to respond in as confused of a manner is believable, to protect themselves financially. But...TBF...this element of mens rea applies in a lot of things. It can determine a murder charge vs a reckless endangerment, as an example. Well, unless it's a high profile racial case, then everything is murder, all the way through the appeals, up to the SCOTUS....

      This cop knows what the first amendment is but he won’t admit it to try and cover his own ass for that arrest. Him and everyone at the department knows what they did that day was wrong. And it’s a disgrace that police will never admit when they were wrong.

He has admitted he doesn't remember any of his first amendment training which is what led to the interaction in the first place. Vulgarity is still protected speech. The only time it's not is when it's intent is to provoke violence, or by its very utterance would likely provoke one to violence. Which you saw the signs nothing about them would stir a reasonable person to violence.

How can you be a police officer in this country and not know what the first amendment is, let alone Bill of Rights? This man should be utterly embarrassed and ashamed of his behavior, and his minuscule understanding of the law. It's so very sad when the citizens of this nation are more conscious and aware of their rights and the law, than the people with badges and carrying weapons whom are entrusted with protecting and enforcing those rights and laws. The number of people who likely were shafted by this man is unfathomable.

      @@JaniceHope The problem with a civil suit is that if it goes to a jury, a cop's refusal to answer or "not recall" can actually be used against him. It's kind of like turning off or muting the body camera. The jury is allowed to draw conclusions.
