The problem, clearly on full display.
This really is the bigger issue. I don't believe cops are inherently bad but I do believe their training is. They're trained to be hammers which makes everything look like a nail. It really comes down to a training and culture issue
The fact that he thinks if people get offended by a sign and should be arrested is a major red flag. He should not have a badge anywhere and is a danger to society!!!

I used to be shocked at the ignorance. I am no longer shocked.
One hidden issue here is that not only did the cops show up, but the 911 dispatcher heard the description “someone is holding up an offensive” sign and they just accepted that as a good enough reason to send the cops.
My goodness... The lack of IQ here is VERY disturbing for someone with such authority.
Another day in America. Thank the police unions for keeping hiring standards so low and the pay so high. Thank the politicians for taking police union money and keeping the status quo. AFAIK only four jurisdictions have ended or limited QI. Ask yourself what’s the hold up for more?

The lack of IQ is precisely what they’re looking for when hiring cops.

Don't forget that 'some' of this officers' stupid behavior is 'acting,' in my opinion. according to this 'cop', their job is to enforce complaints, not uphold the law.
Its absolutely ridiculous that a 15 year career cop admits on stand that he does not know any of the 1st amendments that he swore to uphold!
There should be a test score for being a cop. If they cant name all the amendments and describe them, they can not be let into such positions. Also, an iq test is extremely necessary. The majority of cops are in my understanding below the national average.
that alone should be enough to get him fired after all them years
@@categoricamente1753 ----The police actively filter out candidates that score too high on intelligence tests, which tells you all you need to know.
Good chance he was just a liar which would suggest he is not police material.
He knows them, but if he admits to knowing them then he admits to knowingly and illegally arresting Knowles for the signs. And he won’t admit to that because of the impending lawsuit from that arrest that’s coming. That’s all this is.
This cop knows what the first amendment is but he won’t admit it to try and cover his own ass for that arrest. Him and everyone at the department knows what they did that day was wrong. And it’s a disgrace that police will never admit when they were wrong.
Love when video evidence calls a liar out
End qualified immunity. End civil asset forfeiture.
Institute mandatory maximum-penalties for any and all offenses committed by law enforcement .
I am only 8 minutes into this video and I can say that this man is not a law enforcement officer. He is a feelings enforcement officer.
according to this 'cop', their job is to enforce complaints, not uphold the law.
9 out of 10 road pirates are. Damn shame
He enforces the will of the butthurt.
Well said. I wasn't aware that being "offended" constituted "breaking the law".????
He wasn't hired because he is bright
The conviction with which the cop tries to defend his stupidity is frightening. Such law enforcement officers are a permanent danger to every citizen.
Knowing that Fatts Chubbsly in this video has a badge and is supposedly trusted to carry out the law is appalling. It’s no wonder why cops are less respected every day. Just knowing that the next person to pull me over could be so stupid is a scary thought.
They are trained to "be right" in every situation. When they aren't they figure qualified immunity covers all. When that fails...well you have this here.
@@helloenemy knowing that you refer to ad hominem attacks based on a person's appearance, whilst simultaneously ignoring the possibility of disorderly conduct based on publicly advertised vulgarity is not concerning at all. I bet you'd make a fabulous dinner guest and that tie looks great with your suit 👍🏽
This is one of the reasons I would never live in the USA, ignorant low brow cops 👮♂️ this bloke is a big baby and obviously doesn't have the temperament to be a cop with a gun ! Smfh tut,tut !
@@user-is1yo3nj8pwhile I agree there's no reason to attack his physical appearance. He has admitted he doesn't remember any of his first amendment training which is what led to the interaction in the first place. Vulgarity is still protected speech. The only time it's not is when it's intent is to provoke violence, or by its very utterance would likely provoke one to violence. Which you saw the signs nothing about them would stir a reasonable person to violence.
If a person answered questions from him
like he is doing... He would arrest them and charge them with b.s. charges!
When you come right down to it, for the most part, the questions are VERY simple.
This is insanity. Arresting someone because a person got offended. What a joke !
The 1st amendment gives me the right to be offensive. People like my grandpa and uncle died for that right. This cops is stepping on thier graves!
"Officer safety" has become a catch-all excuse to do anything and everything they want to at any given time. Legal or not.
That was the whole point of it. We weren’t paying attention when our rights started to erode because “it was for our safety”
Pretextual cowardice ! That is why all the floodlights as they are scared of their shadows and the girls who beat them up at recess

Who cares about safety of officers anyways
@gingw7333 Great Statement!!! Sad beyond belief!
I used to believe blindly that police officers were actually highly trained and intelligent enough to know the laws that they enforce, thanks RUclips for opening my eyes.
This cop is lying and should be charged with assault and misuse of Police powers. The police department should be accountable for this cops actions.
Otto the watchdog needs all the support we can give him. What these clowns are doing to his family is sadistic.
And, for those who watched them kidnap his children, when they camped OUTSIDE the departments jurisdiction, when he live streamed and the body cams months later, Otto deserves a multimillion dollar settlement for depriving him contact with his kids for no justified reason..... the kids were asleep In the camper while Otto was in the cab of the truck*!!!

That's embarrassing for all of us together.
It’s amazing how many cops will arrest you for no crime under laws they don’t know and can’t remember
The sheer level of incompetence in this man, judging by the absolute bewilderment on his face when asked these SIMPLE QUESTIONS is ASTOUNDING! How can you be a police officer in this country and not know what the first amendment is, let alone Bill of Rights? This man should be utterly embarrassed and ashamed of his behavior, and his minuscule understanding of the law. It's so very sad when the citizens of this nation are more conscious and aware of their rights and the law, than the people with badges and carrying weapons whom are entrusted with protecting and enforcing those rights and laws. The number of people who likely were shafted by this man is unfathomable.
He's not incompetent. He knows. He just ignored that dude's rights. And pretended not to know them to save his ass.
He even keeps saying “blue LINES matter.” My goodness. This is a mess!
THE FREAKING HIGHEST LAW OF THE LAND!!
Fucking scary as hell.
@@JaniceHope The problem with a civil suit is that if it goes to a jury, a cop's refusal to answer or "not recall" can actually be used against him. It's kind of like turning off or muting the body camera. The jury is allowed to draw conclusions.
Cameras don't lie. This guy's an embarrasement to his honor, Badge, oath, and to his country. This guy's dangerous to anyone. He's gonna explode watch his face.

He's not going to explode. He's to dumb to know what he's doing.

You sound as smart as the Einstein answering the questions in the video.
Simple, weak people always scream for totalitarianism because they believe that authority is for for their own good. And they're too dumb and too stubborn to be told otherwise. When they're being reprimanded like this clown here they throw tantrums like you do or are puzzled like officer Einstein.
The issue is simply stupidity paired with too much ego, too much sense of entitlement and way too little respect for others. Too much of this type is around.
I LOVE how this "cop" tried playing the game of CYA and failed miserably!
He is in DEEP trouble up to his neck.
