Dont be fooled by his recent styff. ESPO is a legend. He put in his work. Truly a hardcore Graff kid from way back. Really helped put Philly on the map. Respect OG!
A lot of toys with keyboard 🥲 This guy is a legend… what you like now about graff, he do it 30 years ago. Some people evolve to a point that many can’t comprehend.
One of the first things I did when I moved to New York was go get a hoodie printed at one of the free print days he hosted at Espo's art world. Coolest dude ever too.
I remember seeing his heart shaped tag in Dublin, next level shit, straight fire. Then I saw his Tivoli parking lot works and that ish blew me away. Some cat from Dublin started jocking that style but I dont remember the name
Graffiti first took place in early 1920 in the Los Angeles river areas. Before spraypaint was made gangs would use roller paint or tar extracted from local pits to get up. Spray paint graffiti is a newer form but not the original one. It began with brushes, sticks and rollers pads.
@@Hezekiah1yeah you can get pedantic with all of this and even point to the monikers on trains left by workers and hobos as the first graffiti. Let's be real, the first graffiti was started by kids in NY who came up with the rules.
(Written with respect.) Just stumbled upon this via a recent chat with Espo. Anyway, love the idea of having a podcast devoted to graff. And the clearly passionate interviewer clearly does his research. Kudos. My only two suggestions for improvement are for the interviewer to consider peppering the talk with a few interjections (i.e., questions, pushbacks, "uh-huhs", etc.) so the interviewee doesn't potentially ramble on. (You can always circle back if a point goes off piste.) The second thing is to remember to speak into the mic so us listeners don't have to constantly adjust the volume. Otherwise, an engaging and absorbing chat. Thanks, @AngelandZRadio, for helping to keep the movement alive!
pretty wild to listen to this guy try to claim that graffiti isn't damage to private property even though it lowers the value and costs money to "fix". While he also goes on later to say he didn't want to do "too much damage" to property and was out there "fixing" it himself lmao. dude is out there... And was he the one bitching to you guys to clip and edit this interview so much? lol...
That’s the trajectory many follow: become part of the system they fight. That said, for some graffiti what they see as a means of breaking into an insular art world
Some grow up and mature and don’t want to promote the dark criminal aspect of graffiti also the addiction and violence that come along with it that has nothing to do with graffiti as an art form. Graffiti is supposed to be wild and out on the streets and not in a gallery or museum etc. but also graffiti writers shouldn’t be stereotyped as low life, criminals, drug addicts, violent, etc.
@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday being an outcast doesn't necessarily mean being criminal, violent or doing drugs. Look at Revs for example.... I just think the trajectory many of these graff guys that get in the art world is comparable to that of leftist politicians in America like the squad or Bernie. They get elected in congress by being anti establishment or speaking anti establishment rethoric, but once inside they flip. The system changes them instead of them changing the system.

@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday How violence and addiction come along with it? Not sure what you mean? Addiction to writing your name, drugs or something else? Is violence somehow included to graffiti? If you don't cross out people , act stupid, paint someone else's spot or have too big ego etc. How come there would be violence involved?
We kicked Steve out in the end after all the hitting on girls or friends wives I mean it got ridiculous. When he started on the daughters it was time for him to go. Sorry if you graffiti people do t k ow him like we do but we had to work with this guy for years until his behaviour became intolerable and don’t take my word for it just ask around nyc
Why does it cutoff like that?
The longer version only in patreon ? Then again cant see it there though
Covid

The classic “Imma tell you I’m painting with permission but I really don’t have it and nor would I…..” It makes the painting world go round.

Next level . I remember pulling up to scribble jam in about 2000 to seeing a Espo piece for the first time in person fire .
✔️✔️Exterior Service Painting Outreach = ESPO
Did Rd get residual?
Why not?

Isn't this the dude that followed RD around ?
From what I understand, that was bullshit, who follows RD on foot? Who follows RD around in general?
Lmao...I was just thinking that while scrolling threw comments and didn't wanna say it 😂 RD357 💪💪💪
RD THE LEGEND
Illadelph . EsPo used to be WAB with meez ,omne and enem ,Braze . EsPo do you ever come back around the way ?

I always liked his throw ups that looked squeezed from a tube of toothpaste.

1920… 😂 try 13000 years . Burro flats..etc.. there was literally never not any graffiti. Man draw on wall as long as man have fire and wheel.

I always said that the spray paint on trains is actually helping. Rust prevention

Solid comparison. Being a huge fan of both I haven’t drawn the distinction before.
Is that Gucci jacket mixed xith LV sweater meant to be a bad joke?
Dudes on a different level.... you wouldnt understand...
Who gives a fuck????
His friend Revs probably could not wear these corporate brand clothing's bought with blood money? Anyway the interview was interesting.
he always looks kinda eccentric
kinda sad how he talks about graffiti giving a voice to the outcasts when now he became as establishment as it gets

That's espo? What a geek, he looks like a Ghostbuster.
Well the difference is that landlords own the property and the writer does not, that’s the fundamental difference
This guy espo makes me hate graffiti artists…

Don't assume pronouns buddy
U READ MY MIND....
