Before throwing something in a trash bin, I have to think first what can I do with it or ask myself if it can be still useful. One example is this damaged pair of flip flops that I decided not to throw because I wanted to revamp it.

While the technique is nice to know, I have many questions. Why didn't you choose a knit fabric, and line it? The check fabric is not zigzagged on a machine, and will tear. Glue AND blanket-stitch the top part of the slipper to the sole. Refine your technique to these suggestions, and you'll have much longer lasting slippers. 👍

lovely! suggestion: to stop the shoes from falling off your foot near the heel you could hand stich about a few centimetres to create a little elastic area to grip the heel

Quite nice to to the glue part. I don't think glue is enough to hold it in place, given that flip flop soles are easily penetrable, it would be a better idea to add sewing along the framework (with a tapestry needle)
