Wjatever you do, Unplug the battery first. I learnt it from personal experience.
Exactly ... Lenovo tell you to remove the battery first. Quite dangerous not to remove the battery before playing around with the Hard Drive.

Hey I don't know if somebody will see this message today, but mine is empty, but computer is working just fine, I don't know since when but i have been using it for more than a year now, and I recently open to clean the dust from it since it was heating up a little and this particular place is empty. I check and for sure it is the same laptop, do need to fix it, or should I just leave it like that ?
If your computer works fine but you cannot see a HDD in it, then the HDD is most likely integrated into your motherboard. :) Its fine

sir thank you for the video i am contemplating whether or not it is worth it to use my old hdd from my 2014 laptop dell something in my lenovo ideapad 3. I removed the hdd and it is a blue western digital 1tb . I had windows 10 on it. And my new laptop has a ssd 500gb which has windows 11 pro. If i install the old hdd will i have a problem? Do i siply right click on it and pick format hard drive? How do i do this when i already have a new laptop already set but i want to also use my old hdd (due to it being 1tb) . p.s my windows will stay as windows 11 pro i just want to use my old hdd which had the windows 10 in it for extra/seperate storage .
HDD to SSD
If your installing a new drive to replace the old drive make sure you clone all your old drive onto the new drive before inserting the new drive
Hi A screw dropped from my Lenovo ideapad 500 which screw should I buy ? I’m confused order a pack of screws from amazon it says alloy steel universal laptop screw. I need to be sure these are the right ones. Could you suggest please
Every laptop will have different sizes. It will depend on which screws your model uses. Measure the length of the other screws that are in similar places and go with that length

Lenovo sent me a new solid state and told me to RUclips instructions to replace mine. I did that, but now when I start the laptop, X1 Yoga 3rd Gen, I get a short boot menu and have no clue what I need to do. I haven’t found a “how to” video on what to do after you replace that solid state. I don’t even know if I needed a new one! Ugh

@@PC_Monkey What if my laptopt has 1 SSD and 1 HDD, Windows is installed on the SSD so I thought that just changing the HDD wouldn't be a problem, but whenever I turn the pc on I got the same error. Any ideas?

Where is heII is the processor located at in this PC? I have watched a ton a videos and it never show it. I see the fan and cooling pipes but can't find the processor. Can you please help point it out?
What model computer do you have? The model number was not given in this video.
The CPU is located under the part of the heatsink assembly that screws down to the motherboard as usual. You can see that part of the heatsink at 2:15, above the single RAM stick
What kind of HDD do you have because i was watching your videos to see how to fix my laptop but i opened my laptop and it doesnt have the HDD
What brand and model computer do you have? Some smaller computers will have the HDD integrated into the motherboard.

He is correct, your hard drive will look more like small memory stick... It should be plugged into the motherboard near the hard drive location he showed in the vid (corner of MB) -- Laptop in the video does NOT have anything plugged into that spot

I have added new ssd drive to my laptop by replacing the DVD rom, it worked fine, however next year I wanted to take off that new ssd drive but the bios won't detect the old drive if I insert it back the new ssd again it will boot normally. why this happened ? I need to remove the SSD .

Either the HDD was missing / removed or your computer does not have a removable HDD. Some computers have them integrated into the motherboard.
What are you trying to do to your computer? Why are you trying to access the HDD?
Does laptop that come with only ssd have a caddy for the hdd if you want to add one?

It appears my Lenovo Thinkpad E15 Gen 2 laptop has a fried motherboard. I have replaced the computer, but would like to recover the files from the old hard drive. The hard drive is a solid state unit. Can I recover the file from it or is this a job for a professional?

Yes you can. Try hooking up the SSD to the working computer with an external drive hookup. They are fairly inexpensive and, assuming the drive is good, you will be able to access the files on it

Ive checked the hard drive, removed it and plug it back and it still says media test failure check cable & "insert boot disk and press any key"

@@PC_Monkey nothing's change :( . It still says no bootable device insert boot disk. What I did is I just load the default settings , my network boot is Legacy. SATA controller mode: AHCI Btw thanks for responding. :)

If that works then it was just an operating system issue. If not, your hard drive is most likely bad. Replace it and then install the OS on the working one

My Lenovo Thinkpad HD has failed. Luckily I have a mirror image. To use this image, will it be necessary to replace the failed drive with an exact duplicate of the original drive? Thanks very much in advance!
The replacement hard drive does not have to exactly match the old one. You can get a different size and brand if you wish.

After purchasing a new hard drive, will it be necessary to format it, or will the mirror image I have contain everything that's necessary? And if I need to format it, I suppose I'd need a USB to serial-drive adapter so I could format the drive from my desktop, right?)

You shouldnt have to format it, but with computers, you never know.

It has to be compatible with your computer. You cannot use just any HDD. What brand and model do you have? Or, you can use sites like crucial.com to scan your computer and tell you what you need :)

@@rohani.x I found what look like your specs here: support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd104915-product-overview-ideapad-320-14ikb-320-14isk. From the looks of it, you would need a basic laptop HDD. 2.5 inch with a SATA connection.

You can hook your old drive up to another computer with an external drive link. Assuming your drive is good, you should be able to get the DATA off.

I usually get mine on Ebay. I can usually get a 500GB hard drive for well under $20 USD. As long as its got a SATA connection for laptops, and is a 2.5 inch, you should be good :)

If you cannot locate the options to switch between or if switching does not work, then skip that step and continue with the rest of the video :)

I have the Lenovo 81mh. No HD or SSD as far as I can see.
Is that a Chromebook? Then yes. Most of the time those size Chromebooks will have the RAM and the HDD / eMMC drive integrated into the motherboard. They are not independent components :(

How and when is it crashing? Can you be more specific about what is happening?

Disconnecting the battery is always a good safety precaution. However, with HDD replacements, I rarely do and have never had an issue in the 10 years I have been fixing 7+ computers a week. Thanks though

You want to take a hard drive out of your computer and get DATA off it? Why do you need to physically remove the HDD in order to get DATA off? Can you simply download the DATA?
@@PC_Monkey my laptop is on a loop of trying to diagnose the problem, failing, and then when I do it manually, none of the options work so my only hope now to to somehow get the data off of the laptop physically.
I wouldn’t be trying to get the data in the first place I’d my laptop wasn’t broken 😐
@@coconutpog596 If the HDD has gone bad and that is the reason for the boot loop issue, then the DATA is most likely already lost and cannot be saved. @@PC_Monkey I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15, I think the lii05 model though I may be wrong. My dog yanked it off the table yesterday and it will turn on , but the screen is off and it won't connect via HDMI to another display. The bottom left is empty with no hard drive, so I dunno where the damaged hardware is.
I think my dog simultaneously made the PC bluescreen and managed to make the display not work so I can't figure out what is wrong with it.
@@bloodfrostgaming9204 If the screen is black, what are the signs the computer is on? Lights? Sounds? Fan?
@@PC_Monkey The power button is lit up, and the fan is usually silent either way. The light next to the power plug port is also lighting up.

so I got my computer repaired at a repair place, tried to launch, it worked for 2 days, shut down, opened it up... there's no fucking hard drive

@@PC_Monkey Lenovo idea pad 3, she replaced it with an SSD apparently. when I turn it on I get a blue screen with a message about the default boot device not found, and telling me to insert a recovery media device.
