      Naturally High I do it in a similar way, I put the coconut oil and then add my V05 cheapie conditioner. I have a video out since last year called "How to Quickly Finger Detangle Natural Hair "

      Hey! You may be right... I also tend to do this while watching films and series :) And remember that it's only necessary if I've been wearing my hair in twists. Even then, I only need to really touch my hair after 2 weeks... Not bad in my opinion.

    Wow! You are good. I would have been quickly separating my hair from the middle to save the time but my hair doesn't tangle up at the ends. The roots, now that needs a prayer.

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  9 лет назад

      MrsToddSmith1 I added the annotation because I didn't really clear my ends in this video, as it was not necessary. This all depends on the condition of your hair. On some days, I can't just separate from the middle without wreaking havoc on my ends; hence, I was sure to mention that it may be necessary to clear the ends first. Have you used this technique to deal with your roots?

    I imagine that you may have come up with easier ways to untwist your twists by now, seeing that this was posted 2 years ago... If not, I too have 4C hair and I think you could/would have an easier time if your twists were tighter with the spacing of how you twist and if you maintain your ends by clipping regularly. My ends reveal themselves when I get to the bottom. If it looks transparent at the bottom, I clip them. When I untwist, I just hold the entire twist and twist in the opposite direction and they mostly just pop open, once I slide my finger from the root down. Of course, our wacky strands tend to wrap themselves around each or the entire twist like vines. Overall, having clean ends and a tighter twists, makes A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE when you want them out!!!!!!!!!

    Have you tried kinky curly Knot Today? If you put it in a spray bottle with water you probably won't have to walk around for 2 days with the coconut oil in your hair... It's a great detangler.

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  9 лет назад +1

      Bree Corley thanks! Yes I have! I use it as a leave in but due to the price, I don't find it suitable as a detangling conditioner. I'd need far too much of it in one sitting. That said, I only left the oil in my hair because I didn't have time to detangle it... Normally I leave it in anything in between 2 hours and 4 days...

    • @breecorley9369
      @breecorley9369 9 лет назад

      Ok well if you ever are up for trying it again you can always add some to a spray bottle with water & oil to stretch the product! :-) I see naturals do that too...

  • @nappyjuly
    @nappyjuly 9 лет назад +1

    I would never think of leaving the oil for that long before applying the conditioner. My ends are so difficult to deal with after two weeks, i will try your method. Can we see how much shed hair you have from your detangling session ?

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  9 лет назад

      If you have a look on my Facebook page you'll see that last month I had a picture of all my shedding after finger detangling and combing. It's facebook.com/naturallyhighhair I'll be sure to add a few shedding shots next time I'm filming. Let me know how letting your hair marinate goes! :)

    Great method. But I find that the roots, especially at the crown, can be just as difficult, if not moreso, than the ends.

    You are such an inspiration I love watching your videos! I am curious ,when you install your two strand twist do you use coconut oil as well? Also do you just wrap your hair at night so that the twist don't get fuzzy? Thanks so much :) I am so excited by all of your helpful advice!

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  9 лет назад +1

      +Katherine Moore Hey, thanks for your lovely words! I actually hate how coconut oil makes my hair feel so I only use it before shampooing. And I use it before EVERY shampoo, without fail. You may be wondering 'why on Earth does she use an oil she hates?'. Well, coconut oil provides enough slippage for detangling prior to shampooing and prevents excessive damage during washing. It stops the hair from getting worn out from absorbing too much water when you wash it.
      I tend to use a leave-in conditioner on my ends along with castor oil: ruclips.net/video/xfjGxcNfkdU/видео.html
      I also wear a sexy satin bonnet to keep it protected. I tend to plait the twists to keep them stretched. Sometimes, I do this: ruclips.net/video/wrpqQF5BO-s/видео.html.
      All the best! X

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  9 лет назад

      Hey, generally I wash (with shampoo) every fortnight. This is subject to change depending on what I'm up to. If I'm frequenting beaches for example, I'm likely to be cowashing my hair every day, in the twists. Hope this helps.

  • @PackofDiscos
    @PackofDiscos 9 лет назад

    Hello again Asha! I think I might have asked you this before somewhere, but do you wash your hair while in the twists? I wear mine for longer than two weeks so usually wash every two weeks because my hair/scalp feels bad otherwise. But then, when I eventually take them out, or redo the twist around my hairline, the tangles are terrible and I get impatient finger detangling so use a comb and then I lose more hair than normal, making the 'protective style' give me less retention than it should have.
    I am still a slow twister/styler, so when I've spent forever putting twists in, I am reluctant to take them out quickly. It's a vicious cycle and I'm not sure which point needs to change.

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  9 лет назад +1

      +PackofDiscos I know the struggle! Here are my new secrets!
      - Co-wash and retwist a few every week.
      - Water only wash and retwist a few every week.
      - Avoid using shampoos while your hair is twisted.
      Keep wearing those twists! Hope this helps! :)

    Hi, I'm new to your channel, but I like your videos :) I see you put your hair into plats and buns very frequntly to protect it. How did you wear your hair at night before it got long enough to plait? Right now most of my hair is too short to put into plaits without them coming undone, but my hair still matts up really badly at night when I sleep on it. What would you suggest I do in this case?
