+Jamie Aitchison Oh my goodness, thanks for doing such a great job with this. Could you email me (ss401533@gmail.com)? I would love to get some insight on constructing football montages
Man, you did a tremendous job!, and very surprisingly with the appearence of brazilian commentators and Marcelo Araujo (argentinian top sport relator at that time) when Batistuta scored!...how did you got this? asked for argentinian canal 13 at that time? Greetings from Argentina, i love this video
Geez! 20 years! We were young then. Yup last great World Cup was 98. Attended 2006 one. A good one too. Great Atmosphere with the fan parks too. Proper country for a Tournament too like France. Public behind it.
Peter Drury for ITV at the 1998 World Cup: - "The first dismissal of the 1998 World Cup finals" (Bulgaria vs Paraguay) - "Oh, terrific shot!" (Paraguay vs Nigeria) - "Hernandez has equalised" (Mexico vs Netherlands) - "It's the French golden goal!" (France vs Paraguay) - "He's done it! It's all gone orange" (Netherlands vs Yugoslavia) - "Long ball played towards Bergkamp. Bergkamp's cut inside, and Bergkamp has scored a sublime goal, the sort of goal that only he can score." (Netherlands vs Argentina)
best world cup ever. Period. great matches, great atmosphere. great goals. great players, leyend players. great music of the world cup. great trannsmitions. coulndt have been better.
mccanmat Could be. According to wiki: ...Wilson had a much smaller role with the station at the 2002 World Cup, which was to be his last work for ITV. See also: ruclips.net/video/3Jf06WlIwEs/видео.html
+mccanmat Not really. It was Brian Moore's last commentary before retiring. He'd die 3 years later. While I don't recall what he did subsequently for internationals, he was still a weekly fixture on ITV's Champions League highlights show.
As a frontline presenter yes....he’s carry on with ITV until 2002 World Cup but Des Lyman knocked him off the top spot after this final. What’s sad is that not long after this his daughter died of cancer.....he’s devoted much of his time since retiring to running a charity for younger people with cancer...also recovered from prostate cancer himself in 2014. Hope that helps.
@@rlaw2244 I know what your saying but we would then have been up against possibly as strong or even a stronger opponent than Argentina who beat Germany in quarter finals and that narrowly lost to France 2-1 and beat a good Dutch team 2-1 for 3rd place.. It would have been a tough match but that England had everything so would more likely than not won.
@@richardwallace5226 We'll never know. But the Croatia match would have had less history and less pressure. Argentina beat them in the group. Nevermind!
@@Frankieefootballmundial France were a complete side when they won Euro 2000... On par with some of the greatest world cup winning sides like Spain 2010 and Brazil 1970... Zidane was forced to play the last match not match fit against Denmark in their final group game... between 1998 and 2002 they were unstoppable
i was the person that put this together at ITV! havent seen it for 15 years. Can remember spending days doing it...great World Cup.

An amazing time to be alive 1998 was a better era and generation then now and the football was exceptionally better than now
No it wasn't, its infinitely better now.
Jean Michel Jarre - "Rendezvous '98". I bought this on single just before the World Cup and it's still one the greatest things I've heard ever. :)
IDK there's a kind of happiness about people in that world cup that is difficult to explain.
One of the most absolute, absolute magic montages . . . .What. A. Summer.
I remember this. The music fit the action perfectly.
Randezvous 98 for me the most underrated world cup song of all time 😍❤️

At least our country never surrendered to the Germans.

If only Romania hadn't scored in the last minute!
