Too young to have served on a Sherman, but from January 1986 to January 1992 I served in two different companies of M-60 and later M-60A3 main battle tanks. This song stirs memories. Nothing like a Tanker's tan, face tanned by the sun from the cheeks down because you wore Sun, Dust, and Wind goggles with your CVC helmet and if you had one used an OD green triangular bandages as a bandana to keep out some of the dust from your mouth and nose. Anyone who served in the Active Duty 1st ID or the Army Guard's 35th ID knows just what I am talking about. Nothing like going peddle to the metal across the training area at Fort Riley in the Summer or Winter. Oh and finding out just how deeply you can sleep on the front left fender of your tank because the Company S.O.P. says that's where the Driver sleeps while the rest especially in winter are snug in their sleeping bags on the engine deck absorbing the radiant heat from the V-12 diesel.

Yes, tell me about the dust covering everything, in my case it was a reddish dust (Vietnam Central Highlands, II Corps)...but you had newer tanks than we did in the RVN (M48-A3, which were almost museum pieces even then).
However, the 69th Armor (also operating in our area) had the M60s.

The song mentioned ramming the tank full throttle. And there was actually a Sherman Firefly that rammed a King Tiger.

I like the one my unit collaborated on sung to Scotland the brave...
Ride to the sound of thunder
    Answer a warriors hunger
    Mount up either open eyes
    To face your destiny
Left to right, the guns aligning
    Mighty beasts, their engines whining
Four as one, a wave of steel
    That answers just to me
    And so on...

Now can we get the full song in German? I can't find a good version of the full Panzerlied, either it's the Battle of the Bulge version where they just repeat the same verse or the anime version that I personally just don't like much.

As good as this is, I prefer this translation.
If it storms or it snows,
Or the sun smiles upon us,
    The day burning hot,
or ice cold of the night,
    Dusty are our faces,
    but joyful are our minds,
    yes, our minds.
    We roll our tanks forward
    into the storm's wind.
    With thundering engines,
    as fast as lightning,
    against the enemies,
    Sheltered in our tank,
    Ahead of all our comrades,
    in battle we stand alone,
    Yes were alone.
    So we push deep
    into the enemy's ranks
If a hostile tank appears before us,
With full throttle we run at the enemy
    (orders) will be given.
    What do our lives matter
    for our Reich's army?
    Yes, Reich's army.
    To die for Germany
    is our highest honor.
    To die for Germany
    is our highest honor.
    With obstacles and mines
    the opponent holds us up,
    We laugh about it and
    Stop our tank.
And before us guns do threaten
    hidden in the yellow sand,
    yes, yellow sand.
    We search a way out
that no other had yet found.
    And if we're left behind
    by treacherous luck,
    And if we can't return
    back home again,
If Death's bullet does find us,
    and calls our fate away,
    yes, fate away.
    Then our tank will become
    an honorable iron grave
    Then our tank will become
    An honourable iron grave
