Nothing like a Tanker's tan, face tanned by the sun from the cheeks down because you wore Sun, Dust, and Wind goggles with your CVC helmet and if you had one used an OD green triangular bandages as a bandana to keep out some of the dust from your mouth and nose. Anyone who served in the Active Duty 1st ID or the Army Guard's 35th ID knows just what I am talking about. Nothing like going peddle to the metal across the training area at Fort Riley in the Summer or Winter. Oh and finding out just how deeply you can sleep on the front left fender of your tank because the Company S.O.P. says that's where the Driver sleeps while the rest especially in winter are snug in their sleeping bags on the engine deck absorbing the radiant heat from the V-12 diesel.
