This is soo true for many of us.
I took a different journey though, after graduting from campus it took me 3 years to get up and go back to school and pursue my dream of being a nurse. It's not easy going back to Uniforms in Kmtc but life humbles all of us especially those of us whom we thought things will be easy after getting that degree. But i am happy i chose to to go back to school...will be graduating this year, and i am super excited to see what the future holds😊

Dear Caro, this may seem harsh, but I urge you to pack your staff and leave. Go abroad. I speak from experience. I went to a NATIONAL SCHOOL in Kenya. Immediately after a prestigious private university. I tamarced until my dad felt sorry for me and gave me a small loan to start a business. The business picked up and started doing well, but between Kanjo, Kenya Power and KRA and my then wicked landord ( commercial space landlords are worse than house owners) every coin I made in profit went to them. Eventually I started looking for opportunities outside of Africa. 18 years after graduation and never employed, at 30 I left Kenya. It was the BEST DECISION HANDS DOWN I ever made. Leaving was hard and starting over was hard, but so worth in the end. My biggest regret is that I didn't leave sooner. Sit down and do diligent applications online. In developed countries they are always looking for talent and smarts. The understand the value you bring to their economies. Pack up and get out

Also as you decide to seek a route out of Kenya please be ware of scamers.
I thought I was also tired and the development that took me... io nitaandika kwa my biography.
We win some and loose some and in all, we hope and pray all works for our good.
I know you have prayed and perhaps sort where in your lineage someone failed or was cursed... but I believe that it's not over until we are dead.
Life is the gift, and the meaning to it is the ultimate gift .
This might be the avenue to your breakthrough and many more to come.
All I pray is that you will not be deceived in your persuasion for your dream abroad.
That you don't give up despite how hard it gets.
Also, know that you are still very capable. Don't demean yourself.
Also, I commend you for saying no to ill treatment at the workplace because some bosses are just demeaning, to say the least.
It will be just fine and also I hope that you win in all avenues of life.
Social , spiritual, financial, and emotional .
      I truly commend your vulnerability

Dotty how do we get out of kenya?

    • @dottynight
      @dottynight Год назад +3

@@DAILYVIDDEOS there are a few options. 1) Dubai or Doha. With your professional documents, you can get a middle level management job. Don't use an agent to travel there though. But use an agency to pay for a chaperone. If you can afford it, pay for chaperone services for a month, if not 2 weeks. The main job of the chaperone is to teach you how to use the transportation system and how to get around. This will enable you to drop your CV yourself and to as many different companies as possible. Work a couple of years and save up to relocate permanently to another country of your choice. Alternatively only take jobs in Multinational corporations and look for internal promotions to the parent company. Or make personal connections
      2) Fellowship programmes on the internet. Don't overlook countries like South Korea and Japan ( all the Asian Tigers in general) , you will be pleasantly surprised.
      3) Private sponsors. These are harder to find but they exist. An African who is already well established abroad and is looking to lift others. ( Equity wings to fly kind of thing , but on a personal level).

Caro, it is a sad reality. I have a Ph.D. in Economics from a prestigious university, University of Cape Town, but it's been hard getting a "good and appropriate" job. Never imagined that I would be out of employment for over 7 months, switching from one job. What really persuades employers to hire is the big question to answer. But we hang in there, nonetheless. The education template doesn't seem to work. You are left wondering, what more do you need to do to be enough!

The problem is that we lack economic balance because we have been taught to over-prioritize on the white collar path, i.e the sciences and the likes, and made to believe that blue-collar jobs are inferior, while in fact, some blue-collar jobs are actually crucial to daily life, like cooks and chefs, moving from point A to B (drivers), plumbing, . These people are poorly renumerated and it trickles down. In the west, a plumber can afford to pay a finance advisor for investment guidance because they can afford to do so. Here, you will never find a construction worker( mtu wa mkono) able to hire a lawyer to represent him in court if his rights get violated at work, and so the story goes. Take this with a grain of salt coming from someone who has never stepped onto campus.

I applied to a community college in USA (2 years college that gives a diploma) and that changed the trajectory of my life completely. The 100th comment,
God has both the perfect knowledge of us and of our circumstances, all is not lost. Life has a way of teaching us tough lessons, to humble us, to remind us that we are just human.
There is this story of two people who auditioned to play movie roles, one was in his late 60s and the other just 19. For this movie to be a success they needed each, they both played their roles so well that they won for the best film. At only 19, this lady became a superstar and on the other hand the guys had to wait for 45 years for him to become successful...
You are not late, you are not forgotten, your turn will come, when it comes you won't believe how things can turn around so quickly, how God can reward those that remain true and faithful to Him. I will be praying for you. I hope you read this and feel encouraged. Thanks.

I have been thinking about this topic for a while now, and the problem dates back to high schools in the selection of subjects. The lack of guidance in selection of career paths and the lack of skill by the teachers to assess students strengths and weaknesses and appropriately guide them in their respective career paths. The university also needs to do statistics on students absorption to the job market and advise high schools accordingly on careers with low absorption rates.

My thought, it’s never late to start over especially being this bright…the cheapest and easiest way without any agents is to apply for fully funded masters scholarships abroad, USA at the top of the list(then do a masters related to your Microbiology degree as most science degrees are appreciated) and your hard work will greatly reward you.

You can come up with other mikrobiologists and form a strong a support group. Represent your agenda to the Government and who knows, you might be amongst the board member. So does it mean that Microbiology is not recognised as a profession in Kenya?

All these people giving options, no use of giving someone options on how to navigate on employment or scholarships opportunities without directing someone on how to do it.
