Great review. As a safety manager for a utility company, we have started to migrate to these Kask helmets as well. OSHA also put out a bulletin in Nov 2023 as to why these helmets are superior in various industries to current hard hats. Also, OSHA has transitioned all of their field personnel to wearing Helmets with chin straps versus hard hats. All my people complain about the heat, but I've told them the same thing, vented hard hats to not meet the Class E rating for electrical protection. KASK is also developing an Arc rated face shield for us as well.
Hey Casey, thanks for the review. Did you ever get the KASK earmuffs.... and how do you like them? Seems to me the fit and finish of them on the KASK helmets should be better than going somewhere else for earmuffs?
Yep, love the muffs, but seem more likely to break than my 3M muffs and have less overall hearing protection. That being said they fit the helmet well and I'm using them every day until they fall apart!

I just finally got to looking into the shell of the helmet. Yes, there are tabs inside that you can pop the holders that secure the webbing. All should be able to detach for cleaning, but I have yet to find chin strap replacements available through a retailer.
@@CaseySnyder they’re available in Europe and the UK. I just about destroyed the chinstrap pop in clips trying to get them out. Got one out ok but second one the head came off. Gave up then. Could be meant for a one time use.

I really like my Kask Super Plasma I used to wear. Very lightweight and not too hot, but when I had the Kask Zenith we had issues with the Kask muffs as well as the ratchet system in the back of the head breaking. Currently I’m using a Petzl vertex and have zero complaints with it!
I haven't used the Zenith so I can't say anything negative beyond that they have a larger fit than the Plasmas (from what a coworker told me). There are a lot more visor options for the Plasma.

The Zenith X is really nice as is the Zenith. Is the headlamp mounting slot on the X at least 22mm which is a little less than an inch.
Protos, I love it. If you like face Shields, this one is so plush, responsive, streamlined and secure.
Hell yeah. I love my Protos. It's the best helmet for badass tree work!

I've had 2 so far and the ratchet has broken within months on boths. Only got the 2nd because the first was still under warranty.
What GoPro mount is that on the Zenith?
It's a standard one that came with my GoPro. I believe it is a curved so it fits the contour of the helmet.

Plasma vs zenith. I’m not a climber but I’m trying to move the company away from the old school style.
