ALWAYS BELOW THE KNEE, don’t trust a man with no socks! You’ll look better, smarter, more expensive, and taller with a below the knee coat no matter what a RUclipsr says. 200 years of classic menswear > this guy
@@gentsloungeit doesn’t make you look taller. 1. It looks like you are wearing a coat several sizes too small. 2. Gives you the silhouette of a fudge pop. 3. Isn’t nearly as good at keeping you war. Your suits are already too slim and short. Adding on a short overcoat just makes it worse.
@@gentslounge I'm a noob in sartorial style. I've got an overcoat that's fitted rather nicely, but the shoulders are too wide. And I've heard that it's less noticeable with a black overcoat than the khaki/camel one that I've got.
@@gentslounge I personally like to wear classic styled clothing with a bit more modern look to them. Casualization of the more formal ensembles basically.
while shorter will make you taller, at least to me, it always seems dis-proportional when it's above the knee. Also, if you need an overcoat and you don't have wool pants or something extensively warm, you will be FREEZING in your legs.
Lmao manlets will never learn. Coats should hit below the knee, it's way more elegant. Above the knee coat makes you look much boxier and it's a cost cutting measure to save fabric.
Uhhh, no. Your greatcoat is supposed to reach pass the knee. That’s the whole point of a greatcoat. If you don’t have a greatcoat that reaches pass the knee. Then wear a trench coat over top your greatcoat. The furthest a greatcoat is allowed to go is to the ankle.
😂 you forgot about long overcoats that usually below knee level. Long overcoat is the traditional style as people usually walk in the cold then and the long overcoat will provide warm almost to your entire body while walking. Have you seen Peaky Blinders? Do you think Tommy looks stupid and short with that long overcoat?
Our factory is a professional manufacturer of cashmere coats. Can provide cashmerecoat sample and styles. Can accept distribution orders and OEM orders . Both big and small orders are available.
If you’re a shorter guy, go for a shorter overcoat. If you’re a taller guy, a longer overcoat really flatters your silhouette, and will give you huge presence.
Don't agree with your take on the length of an overcoat. Since coats are supposed to be worn in cold weather they are supposed to fall low on your legs in order to protect them as well from the cold. This is why traditionally they were so long. Besides, I also just find these short overcoats to be aestethically unappealling, the long ones are much more elegant and beautiful.
I still think that you should keep over coats there traditional length it keeps you warmer and protects some of your pants from rain or snow but I do apologize that I was rude and how I said people should not trust you
@ omg man I still search by Google to find it or close to same design what do you have I didn’t find yet please help me me if you have the link or model number please 🙏

@@gentslounge tnx for answering .. so u mean brown overcoat/tie/shoes works with light Blue navy dress? Was thinking of a Red/bordeaux tie .. does brown overcoat work with?
Preferable I'd rather a longer coat for warmth and im 185cm no ones gonna mistake me as a short person. My winter work coat I have at the railway is knee length and looks better in photos then those wearing shorter or pea coats
The short coat = looks taller is a complete myth. What makes you look taller is a well-defined waist silhouette at your natural waist. Or simply being taller like with wearing boots.
Knee length / slightly below knee length looks WAY better on a taller guy. For Short Kings, a couple of inches above knee suits best. Those mid-thigh length overcoats are just… meh.
If it's that cold that you need to wear an overcoat, it doesn't feel right to wear shoes without socks.

You sure though?
I'd suggest a knee length or longer overcoat, because you wear an overcoat for warmth and the extra length traps more warmth.
For function, yes. If you want to look taller, no.

Traditionally (as in classic style) overcoats are meant to be worn at knee level and even slightly below. It is more contemporary to wear it higher.

I agree. I find the classic knee length cut to be much more stylish, plus if it's too high, it can make you look top-heavy/unproportioned.
