- The Atlanta Falcons just stole the trade deadline! How did they do that if they didn't even make a trade? The Falcons were not in a position with a full deck of draft picks like other NFL teams so they did what was wise and watched as others spend draft capital. Not only that, but they already made their impact moves.

That's all we can hope for honestly...if not it will be Terry's first question mark in my opinion...our offense must continue to evolve to make up for the defense.

We did need a rusher , someone who puts pressure and can help Grady Jarret and Judon some more sacks , and Judon has played ok, he’s stopped a lot of runs and doesn’t always get a chance to go after qb but play zone , Check his rushes at qb and qb pressure rate not just cause someone’s on the field that’s a edge rusher doesn’t mean that’s the play call could be zone

Falcons don't have a fifth round pick. It was taken for the tampering charges. Even more reason for them not to waste draft picks.
These next few weeks may be tough as the team is but I personally wouldn’t change the team right now. They are getting better just like you said. Hold your picks and don’t give up anything for next year.
This is exactly correct, we made move after move in the offseason already. Why spend big for a rental for 9 games. Figure it out with the guys in the building and make a run at it

I said the same, and I agree! They gave up a pick for a player (good move at the time) in Judon, but it’s not panning out IMO! I would let him walk if his production doesn’t improve! They need their picks! They’re built for right now and need to keep ammo for the future!

@Datjayz99 passrushers can't do it on their own. They get doubled and schemed out of the game unless they are TJ Watt. We need more passrushers to create a cumulative effect that makes everyone better. If you don't have one edge superstar, then you need several "good" pass rushers. I don't know if we were an ojulari away, but I know it would have helped.
@@laughingpanda4395 Ok.. I get it, but at what point do you stop giving up picks. Judon wanted a new contract, and based on his performance I would not resign him. So they'll lose that pick. If they traded for Ojulari there goes another pick, and based on what your saying trade another pick for someone else if Ojulari doesn't pan out.

I’m a total Falcons fan. The Judon issue is not totally his fault. The Falcons pass rush is so garbage that teams are shifting the double to Judon & are handling the rest straight up. Plus the Falcons just CAN NOT draft pass rushers. They don’t know how Same way Bill Belechk could not draft WR 🤷♂️
Ojulari wouldnt have saved the falcons pass rush single handedly but i think it would have been a net positive. A cumulative effect that helps everyone else get 1 on 1s. I just dont see how holding onto a 4th round pick helps us more?

I just told my friend this and I told him, like i mentioned before hand, we brought pressure to the QB this time against the cowboys, and not to mention but i feel like our MLB number 55 could be a pass rusher because the way he communicates with the D line and then does what he does its just so fucking good, and if you look at the way he plays, he could easily get pressure on the QB
We used the picks in the offseason. We have 4 picks left. Azeez is not that guy. I’m fine with the no moves.

Yeah the only thing I didn’t agree with him on is his stance on Judon. The reason Judon isn’t getting pressure is because he has 0 help from the DEs lol
Justin Simmons is a FA after this year, but hopefully we bring him back. He has a pick and you never hear his name, good or bad, and that's the bare minimum you ask from a safety in this scheme. Not everyone is the nest safety in the league (JBIII).
Don't forget we get Damaro Hellem and the rookie Brandon Trice coming back next year from injury

@KurtisB and yet, if we had a passrush, we would be one of the most complete teams in the NFC. We are rated far better on Def according to PFF. They have us as the 6th best overall team. Imagine if we had a good passrush too? It's not crazy to think we might have a shot. Why not us?

Smith was worth any 4th round pick you can get. We still have Dorlus, Ruke, and if they added Smith we are good.
If we want to make a deep playoff run we absolutely need better pass rush. We are dead last in qb pressure and sacks. That's not gonna cut it. Should have gotten a pass rusher.
Fans are just impatient because it feels like with a few extra holes plugged up, this team could compete for championships this year already. The team's glaring problems are rushing the QB and run defense. An impactful trade could have made a big difference there and gotten that defense up from near bottom of the league, to somewhere in the middle. With a highly rated offense, that can make you a genuine competitor.
Relying on drafting defensive talent for 2025 is risky, because we don't have a good record on those landing. And like you said, lots of guys are getting old, will regress or retire, especially on D. It's probably not just holes that are gonna have to get plugged up, from trades that didn't land this year. It'll also be replacements for guys like Grady, who are going out soon. If you look at snaps on defense this year, him and Onyemata are the two tackles that are set in that defense. And they're both older than 30. That's not good for future prospects.

Atlanta has sucked at drafting how many players are even still on the team from the last five years drafts past the third round? So give up a fourth for a proven pass rusher that would instantly make us contenders seems like a no brainer to me
The judon trade was a horrible trade, Simmons was a free agent signing in the off-season
Imagine if the Falcons drafted Jared Verse and Johnny Newton instead of their two first wasted picks
I honestly believe the whole issue with the D is scheming, there are a lot of proven def players on this def look at there track records, this def will get better as we move forward there is 8 more games plus post season we stay relatively injury free this will be a top 10 def shortly.

Its really not the players on defense. Or us so much of us need a pass rusher. I agree with yall on that. But ppl dnt realize it comes down to playcalling . We run a 4-3 defense. Jimmy lake has to be better with blitz schemes and the right time. Judon will be way better and the rest of the dline if Jimmy runs better schemes. Also teams are getting banged up down the stretch and were just in week 9-10. If we can stay healthy i believe we actually have shot. But it might comes down to us and Detroit. Maybe Washington
Judon is being used in pass coverage more with the falcons ion think he’s doing as bad as you say stats can be a little misleading sometimes

You contradicting yourself. You saying the Falcons are ready to compete NOW is all the more reason they should have dealt a pick or two for a seasoned veteran who can produce NOW instead of waiting to draft a rookie which you have no idea if they will produce or not. Just look at the Panthers and Bryce Young. A top notch draft pick can be a total bust
Back in the day I was a big fan of George Allen and his " over the hill gang " in Washington DC. They did win a Superbowl.
Well you can't necessarily put Bryce in this situation because he was put in a pretty messed up situation with no O-line no weapons for real but you flip it and look at Cj stroud last season or Jaden Daniel's now both were put in good positions to succeed with decent weapons to support them

division winner one and out playoffs is not an acceptable goal. No pass rush no pressure no playoff wins... epic fail at trade dead line. Now we dont know what some pieces would have cost but i would have traded penix and a 1 for crosby or garrett. That would make us a super bowl contender. Dont use this time with cousins to sell tickets, lets win it all.
