Filipino Reactor. Keeping it real and natural.
I am Nephi Acaling. I am native to Bacolod City but currently living in Cebu City, Philippines. I’ve lived in different countries like Singapore, Japan and United States due to job assignments. In fact I was in the US when I started this channel thus the confusion sometimes where I am truly based.
I have completed my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree and I am currently working as a Project Control Engineer.
At a time, I was a band vocalist performing every Friday and Saturday night at a local bar chain but recently decided to quit from my band to focus on my RUclips Channel and my full-time job as an engineer. I was also a member of the Filipino Voice Symphony where I was taught by professional chorale singers and we actually bagged the Gold Medal in the International A cappella Championships held in Singapore in 2011. I was also the Glee Club President and the singing trainer for various competitions when I was in the university which was a humbling experience for me.
Ever since, I started watching television as a kid, I realized that I enjoy analyzing and commenting on things related to singing performances. I believe this was the foundation of my interest towards making a reaction channel.
I am a self-motivated, and a disciplined soul. I am always keen to up-skill myself by learning new things whenever I get a chance.
My real strength is my attention to detail. I pride myself on being sensitive to the beauty of vocal embellishments, be it major or very subtle.
Most importantly, I keep my reactions real and natural.
Suatu Masa tells the story of a young man, that saw the most beautiful girl his life. He wants to woo her , to be his girlfriend, cause his heart tells that she's the one for him. He tries to write a love letter, although he is frustrated that he has no inspiration, no words to describe her sparkling eyes and her sweet smile and kindness the best way he knows how, through his writing.
He asks God, the universe to help him convey his love,longing and yearning to this lady; in hoping that if he musters the courage to ask her on a date, she will one day in future, accept gladly.
M.Nasir wrote this song in the 80s for his first wife.
He's a real musician... Lyricist, singer, poet, actor, painter.... You name it and he's the one.. Thanks for your reaction
Actually m.nasir is from Singapore but he's become Malaysian citizen quite sometime now if I'm not mistaken.. his 1st wife pass away after given birth to their 5th child . After few years he married marlia musa.. the daughter of one of well-known couple actors ( legends) in Malaysia.. in Malaysia we called m.nasir as SIFU ( Chinese language) means teacher .. because he is the teacher for lots of singer in Malaysia.. he also an actor ( the best of his performance was in PUTERI GUNUNG LEDANG) .. he is also a producer, a song writer, a lyricist, a musician.. u named it. Everything in music industry and show bizz.. that SIFU M.NASIR ...
BTW, his singing style is adore by his fan and his fan love to hear his singing just like in this video..

20yrs ago I went for M.Nasir concert in KL,my first M.nasir live concert . Recorded song or tv show really put a limitation to his voice . Stand in there watching n listening to his music, his voice is filling every inches of my mind n soul , it's like out of body experienced for me n my friend😅 (btw I was standing in front row,so amazeballs!!)
I like m.nasir because he's an underrated good technical vocalist. he never sing a song the same way. There's always changes here and there . always in tune. A baritone naturally but can reach tenor range with his special vocal technique.
The song “bagaikan sakti” a duet by siti nurhalizah & M Nasir is a soundtrack tO the movie “Puteri Gunung Ledang” based oN a Malay legend. You should react tO this... u reacted tO siti & Faizal Tahir version before but i promise you... M. Nasir’s version has more feel tO it. Not that Faizal is not a good Singer, but he’s a more pop version
A great storyteller singing his outstanding piece.
The song's tempo was a bit fast when it first came out in 1981, if I'm not mistaken...poetic songs fit M.Nasir's style because of his artistic background...he is a painter as well, when he write his music he sometimes incorporate religious message into the song...sometimes you can't differentiate whether it is a love song between people or love between people and God...and those who listen always debated the meaning behind the song, what he tries to convey...i wish someone could interpret the meaning of this song for both u n Aki, u need linguistic skills in order to do that...
if u now this person actually are mastermind in malaysia music,without him band like wings (awie)search(amy) and other singer never exist..and siti adore him so much.
Suatu Masa = Once upon a time.
One of the prime movers of music revolution in Malaysia since the 70's.. Versatile vocal styles ranging from pop, folk, fusion, traditional, funk, ballad and even rock..Together with the rock band Search really became the trendsetter of the rock music industry back in the late 70's/early 80's... Metaphorically, he's the sixth member of the band since he wrote and co-wrote and produced the band's album and gained huge success..He penned probably more than 2000+ songs for himself and various artists... I've listened literally most of his songs whether for himself or for other artists, it's all about the feel, the melody and the lyrics.. That was my 2 cents observations.. Even Siti Nurhaliza herself grew up with his songs among other singer and songwriter.
M nasir is a legend. his song is full of meaning and own soul.
He is one of the best Malaysian music maestro, living legend, remember some song your guys reacted before actually composed by him. Let me suggest you to watvh Amy Search version of this song...go and get it. P/s- hey!!, your CV is quite interesting. :)

You probably were wondering why the crowd went crazy and clapped as if there was no tomorrow. M. Nasir brings something else into his singin. SOUL. You mention he didnt need to showcase superb vocal technique, and all he needed was his plain singing. This is true. But what makes it magical is when composed a song, he brings arts, soul and poetry into it. This particular song has been my favourite ever since i first heard it some 15+ yrs ago although it was already more than 20ys old at that time. was first recorded in the 80s. Yet, it evoked so much emotion in me in the yr 2000s. Of course also because I understood the wordings. Another poetry song by M Nasir that i loved so much is Keroncong Untuk Ana, and the original recording was accompanied by a flute. It is just magical. True arts. True artist, Sifu M Nasir.

I believe he wrote this song as a tribute to his late wife. It was released about a year after her passing.. The lyrics mentioned at the beginning how his letters cant be delivered. And he ask God to convey his love.. A very sad and soulful song indeed.

This performance reminds me of Sinatra's Sway when he performed it live. Wine on one hand, cigar on the other and he barely singing or flexing his vocals. Most of it sounded like he is trying to woe a woman.
