People tend to forget how this happened in Tekken 2 as well, with Kazuya being thrown inside that volcano, only for him to come back in Tekken 4 due to retcon of that game. They've always had the problem of following through with the character deaths in a storyline, and so has lot of other fighting game developers. Because legacy characters are often a cheap way of gaining more sales in comparison to gambling for success with a whole new lineup of characters.

So that's how Heihachi survived because someone saved him. No wonder they didn't show this in Tekken 7 because I thought he was dead but as it turns out he always manages to come back. Just like Kazuya. It's like I always said the Mishimas play rough, they may play dirty but they don't play dead because they always find a way to come back no matter how many times they get killed off.
