Federer is beatable. He’s been beaten by many “talented” players with unbelievable “potential.” The biggest difference…his consistency to perform wonderfully at the highest levels.
Ernests Gulbis & Dominic Thiem were both coached by Gunther Bresnik. I wasn't surprised by Gulbis game. More let down that he didn't live up to his potential. So many players that show real promise & potential. But talent without commitment won't get you to the top. You need to work to get results. It's not the intensity it's the consistency of your work ethic. Roger, Rafa, Nole..all workhorses.
@geemy9675 No actually. My sibling worked hard at being proficient in tennis. I know the struggle, the body not cooperating & non existent funding. When you have the talent to excel you should go for it. No regrets.
@@louisedyhlen3234 He really had the talent to make it big time. Now you see Jess Pegula & Emma Navarro both daughters of billionaires in the WTA intent on getting to the top. Thanks for sharing this fact about Ernests. I wish him well.
Any of the greats can be beaten by a one off moment by a player. But it is the consistency they lack. Chances are they beaten in the next round of tournaments.
its not only about consistency, it's also about the safety margin. Even the big three had their bad days. When you're way better than the rest of the pack like the big three, you can still on a bad day beat other players performing at their highest. Just not 100%. Tennis matches can tip one way or another depending on a ball in or out a couple inches, a gust of wind, etc
I saw him live at the Sydney international over 10 years ago. He won the match, but really struggled with his breathing at different times. I wondered if he was gluten intolerant like djokovic...
If only he didn’t change his forehand. His 2008-2012 forehand was an absolute bomb. Fuck knows why he started playing around with it when Bresnik became his coach
Non stop stat padding by Djokovic in the last few years in the post 2017 weak era doesn't make him GOAT. Mediocre young generation players are the culprit.

Applying "GOAT" to Gulbis for this one match is clickbait and disingenuous. In all honesty, Mr. Gulbis didn't really amass much success. He went out in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd round of basically every tournament he played in, with only a smattering of Quarter Final rounds and only 2 Semi-finals. Not to "knock" the guy of course ... to be a pro on the circuit and to survive and produce any significant results over years is VERY successful imo. This particular match against Federer was very exciting, but one can always expect the occasional "upset" over a top player.
@@huzcer Not only in tie breaks but when serving for the match, couldn't find the aces after being taken to deuce, Sampras would have banged down two aces down the T.

Ernest Gulbis happens to be a son of an industrialist in Latvia. He is humble and just love to play tennis
You forget all the players that work their ass off and never get to that level anyway. Talent AND determination, it takes both.

I like his attitude too. Level headed and calm even when he makes mistakes. So much potential. Shame.

It's all to do with SR- if your level is higher on that day, you will surprise your opponent, even if it's a Fed/Novak or Nadal.

Except this time, Gulbis fought all the way to the semifinals and became the only player to take a set off Nadal and almost beat him on clay in 2010.
Can u upload djokovic vs Gulbis 2015 Montreal

Gulbis must've had a head full of dreams about beating Federer as a young boy. Good that he made it into a reality in this match.
no
At least it was a GOAT outfit for Rog that day
Without taking credit from Gulbis, this was an uncharacteristically bad match by Roger.
Especially the two last games. Right after saving match points on the opponent serve, He just gave all the points away with unforced errors
Nalbandian was the greatest talent who ever stepped on a court.
when was this ya
2010 rome masters
The goat its not about titles
Gulbis. Great!
It was on clay so... the GOAT is not here
Eventually losing to a champion Rafa in semis ❤
He never had even 1% of what is needed to win a GS.
So bad that the vampires sucked the life out of his career
