Great video, old halyards and running sheets can be soaked in bleach and viniger and water overnight and then put through the washing machine, come out brilliantly.Hatch insert can be replaced pretty cheaply, safe sailing guys.
Hiya team Thora, You can always give the running rigging a wash. Clean it up. Good system you have. The only issue with old ropes is they can’t be spliced, I know the hard way. Once I tried and it took an hour and a half to do one splice hehe. Cheers for watching 😎

You are absolutely adorable, and such a hard worker. Too bad there aren't two or three of you as I'm sure many men would like to have a woman as good as you
What part of the world are you in?? France correct?? I'm really impressed by your willingness to take on such a huge task and you both seem to be happy which should tell people something.. all the fame, fortune and material objects in the world cannot make you happy. In fact all that stuff usually brings the opposite of joy and happiness into life..
Hello hard workers, we would also like to buy a sailboat from such a yard. But then a boat in better condition because I can't do all the repairs like you. What do you pay approximately per week or per month to stay there. Because that is an ideal situation to be able to work on a boat, which is not tolerated in all marinas. Finally, I just want to say that you guys are the nicest and most honest couple I've seen in this kind of situation. And show everything that comes with this kind of job. Hold on .👍

I just burned through this entire project to date since last night. I love this story, but while I was burning through you added 200 new subs. At this rate you won't be able to quit for the winter to work.
Hi Bob!!! We got really excited yesterday morning counting down to reach 20.000 subscribers and we are already way over that... It's amazing how the channel is growing and we are immensely grateful but unfortunately RUclips doesn't give us enough for this refit so we'll have to go back to work 😔 Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We'll try our best to keep uploading even videos of our time away working in The Alps :)
@@SailingSeabird I just realized how close to winter it was. You might want to begin shooting more around the yard and saving it. RUclips loves interaction and growth. I found you because of the Algorithm, which is probably why your numbers are jumping so fast. To keep your spot you have to maintain the impression numbers. So if you shot more footage around the yard you could cut it together for other videos while you’re away. Some suggestions might be to tour the other derelict vessels. How about a video on dumpster diving, what’s in the skip and can you flip any of it for profit? Post some of the things you find in there and see if anyone buys them from your version of Craigslist. You can even do a video on the cost breakdowns of where things are on the new boat. Sponsor ship deals tend to kick in around 20k subs so it might be worth reaching out to Vetus. They were sponsoring Sailing Lady Africa until they stoped sailing. Hope some of this helps, I know how important those impressions are to a channel’s continued growth and I want you two to do well.
You can definitely get a replacement glass for that hatch much cheaper than complete hatch assembly, so worth keeping it. BTW you should try using butyl tape to temporary fix the leaks.
A big belated Happy Birthday to you Stew. I'd say I hope you had a great day but it looked like you did as long as it ended with a cold drink and some snuggles from the Mrs. LOL I was happy to see that you did things right on that glass work you'd be surprised how many people forget to put some epoxy on where there going to be placing the glass first. You also started small and worked your way up in size another mistake I see far to many making on refit channels. I've seen more than a few lay that first piece against a dry spot and start with the largest pieces first. I guess they don't understand that that first layer decides the strength for the entire patch. So starting small to large means that every single piece has it's own bond to the hull as well as being a much better support for the pieces both before and after it. I have to laugh at myself here because that's a very long winded way of saying excellent job and I expected nothing else. Great treasure trove you acquired there in that container and awesome that you'll soon have all your stuff right there at the marina with you... Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
Hiya. Thanks so much for the encouragement. We never know if we are doing it right. Plus you alway get the back seat drivers… Only time will tell if it works hehe. Cheers for staying with us. 😍
You guys are good. I am subscribed to an : 1) Upscale yacht dealer, 2) Captain Q, 3) an appraiser, 4) and a Brazilian channel..., but you guys are the first ones who got their boat for free and are basically restoring it "a la freegan" !! great... However, as I inherited money and am looking to buy, I am interested in learning more and less drama. Yacht shows, holiday tours, days off, blah blah blah..., IMHO, show as much as possible, what you find, how your repair or adapt it and install it, and what you need to buy , costs, expenditures, etc....useful info is what drives a channel. Content is King in the world of Jew free media.

Good idea on the butyl tape. The hatch is nice but I doubt we’ll keep it. Not going to make a job replacing or fitting.
Cheers for watching 😁😎😁
Well HA! Free stuff is much better than holes in the boat and water in the keel. HaPpy UNbiRThDay Stuart! Give smarty pants Ms M 21 spanks!
Hey Dee,
Both just as fun. It’s all about perception.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. 21 is a good year.
Cheers for watching 😀
Love the channel well done !
Hiya Mark,
Thanks so much. We’re just pottering about on the boat, trying to make a wreck a home.
Cheers for watching 🤗
Happy birthday mate. FYI that other Ian Nicolson is an imposter
An imposter! We’ll get him. I’ll keep my eyes and ears to the ground. If I hear of anything I’ll be sure to let you know.
Cheers for watching 🤣
four month late but Happy Birthday! 🍰🍨
Thank you!!
Did you keep your old boat?
Hiya, we sold the little boat.
A big belated Happy Birthday to you Stew.
I'd say I hope you had a great day but it looked like you did as long as it ended with a cold drink and some snuggles from the Mrs. LOL
I was happy to see that you did things right on that glass work you'd be surprised how many people forget to put some epoxy on where there going to be placing the glass first.
Plus you alway get the back seat drivers…
Only time will tell if it works hehe.
Cheers for staying with us. 😍
you guys should keep this hatch and use it as companionway if sealed properly not leaks
Hiya,
A mate did a similar thing.
We think we’ll just sell it. Can’t make jobs from all the junk we’re given.
Cheers for watching ☺️
👍!!!
🙏🏼🤩😎👍🏼
Hiya Roy,
Cheers for watching 🤗
How much for the Water trap and hatch?. 😀👍

How can you finance all this? May I ask?
Learn something spezial , work , keep your money together, do not buy bullshit, use the saved money to invest in your dream . Actually its not that difficult in the western Hemisphäre 👍
@@martinhoflich6150 Yes, that's the "normal" way, I know. But I want to know how they do it.
Hiya Pete,
It’s pretty simple! We have jobs. Work, the grind etc etc
We work all winter in a ski resort.
Save, save, save
Then in the summer get stuck in with boat jobs.
Cheers for watching ☺️
Well at least you know where the leaks are now….
Hi Michael,
You’re so right. Not that bad on the grand scale…
Cheers for watching 😉
😀👍
Cheers Ben. Glad you enjoy 😉
