thank you !! your site with the description of how to convert a 'point cloud' file to STL has solved me a big problem on how to make a 2.5D scanner to be connected to a CNC milling cutter to scan raised objects. Obviously I use a sensor based on laser triangulation that costs about $ 50 but has an accuracy of 0.1 mm :) which you could also use in your system to make it extremely accurate in the detection of points. Anyway thanks again !!
you can also make a 3d object in 3df Zephyr You only need 1 - camera ( phone or professional) 2-Software 3- mesh lab for view and editing Enough no need any high skill Made your face model with it.
hello first of all. I have to ask, do we need to combine the step and activating connections in the motor of the z axis? if it is not needed, the z axis does not move in this regard. As the second point, I completed the connections completely as you mentioned, but it starts to work automatically when power is supplied. The d2 connection and the 5 v connection seem to be ineffective. How can we solve this? My third problem is that the sensor performs the scan, but the resulting model is very different from the real thing. I would be grateful if you help.
What about ultra high quality scan? More step, longer time but higher quality. Time is not a problem for me, it will be better if the quality is higher than you show in the video.
Hi Electronoobs, I have tried this project by using the same equipments and coding as well but when I rendered the point clouds to the meshlab software, it is showing half scanned part only, I dont know why. What is your suggestion on this problem? Thanks

Hello. I used the limit switch code in your 3D scanner topic in my hobby project. However, GP2Y0A51SK0F(2-15cm) sharp sensor is used in your project. In my project, GP2Y0A41SK0F(4-30cm) sharp sensor is used. I will change the relevant code in your code, but I could not find the distance formula for my GP2Y0A41SK0F sensor. Can you please tell me the formula to add to the code?
Thank you sir for explaining .. me and friends are trying to make a 3d scanner as our college project ...is there any way I can get a block daigram of it .. Help .. Thanks again
I have done everything exactly the way you described. But the point cloud file generates a very different structure in meshlab. There is no similarity between real object scanned and the generated meshlab structure. What is the problem ?
Did you change any of the default settings for the PCB? If there's a change to almost any of those values, the special pricing and free shipping become unavailable.
Hello my friend! I am happy that you like the 3D scanner. An attribution to my original project that inspired your build would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, Electronoobs! I'm very glad to see your video about 3D scanner and I decided to repeat this project. 2 smooth rods seem an overkill, 1 will do just fine. To improve the quality you should try microstepping to see if that helps.

Use microstepping for stepper motor drivers

Try that and maybe you’ll get better resolution!
I've tried. The error is in the sensor. Sombody told me to place tape over the sensor and make a small hole. That will give better results...
