I would LOVE them to use a miniature progressing cavity pump for the next version, and chocolate pellets. I built a 3DP version for my old uni project (icing not chocolate) and they were finicky, but would mean prints could be a LOT bigger and you can just keep... topping up the hopper.

@@youdontknowme5969 It could well be the new cameras, in that you need to put a teleprompter right next to the camera lens - if not, for the really professional ones, actually in front of the lens but bouncing the light in such a way that the camera can't pick it up, but the presenter can see it - so that your eyes can stay looking into camera, without anyone noticing you're reading... ...but perhaps with these new cameras, they haven't worked out how to set it up well enough and it's a bit further away from the camera lens now, so it's more obvious that Linus's eyes are wandering now and again to read his script. Maybe. I'm guessing. But it would make sense.

Fun fact: there is a Brazilian youtuber called "Rocketz Labz" that actually moded his plastic 3D printer to print chocolate, a few videos down the road he needed to print new plastic parts and he sure had a lot of problems specially with the nozzle , so yeah, a 3D printer specifically for food makes some sense in my book.
I am always amazed by how but Packages are being handled during shipping in the US and Canada. I only once had a slightly dented package in Germany, but seeing it on the regular is just crazy.

To extend the flow of the chocolate, one of the things you can do is add a bit of Crisco to the mix. Just have to be careful it's not too much to affect the flavor or texture. Adding that is a trick you can use when warming chocolate on a double boiler too
Great and smart design on the feeding syringe. Cooling should be done at the end of the hot end tip without airflow hitting the nozzle. Add a blower with a flattened tube at 45 degrees towards the tip of the extruder. Should make cooling more efficient for chocolate.
I wonder what the advantages to this over printing a silicone mould would be. I feel like there are very few cases where this would be "better" than moulds/ melting multiple moulded parts together

There is a good way to use this kind of 3d print outside of food. I dont know another material that similar to chocolate when it comes to temperature behavior, but what if I 3d print a model, cast it on sand to make the mold, then cast metal in it. The chocolate model then can be melted back into printing material easily. With plastic, you need to buy extra equipment just to reuse the printed plastic back into filament. With chocolate, just a kitchen stove and a pot should be enough.
Funny thing is, it would be much easier to 3D print a design in PLA, then do a vacuum-form mold of it and fill THAT with chocolate. Its extra steps, but until this thing gets reliable, it will be the better way. And even at doing that, your vacuum-forms can be re-used multiple times if someone does want to sell custom chocolates.
Bit of a conspiracy theory, but I think that Linus is purposefully uploading videos right before they drop so that he can collect on all the interactions that come from the comments about the slow processing…at least that’s what I would do

Honestly I'm only a hobby baker and I low key want one. Provided they really get it to work reliably I can totally see boutique bakeries and confectioners being all over these. I've only dabbled in chocolate making and making custom pieces is incredibly labour intensive and requires serious skill. A chocolate 3d printer could open up so many possibilities.

Honestly I'm only a hobby baker and I low key want one. Provided they really get it to work reliably I can totally see boutique bakeries and confectioners being all over these. I've only dabbled in chocolate making and making custom pieces is incredibly labour intensive and requires serious skill. A chocolate 3d printer could open up so many possibilities.
