I published this game during a bad time in my life. I feel too ashamed of it to even think about it again. As a consequence, I more or less rebuilt it from the ground up into a new game. I would be interested to see what you think of it now. d(*-*d)
Honestly from the looks of it, I think it feels pretty fleshed out this time around, especially with the Haggar Bros. Pretty glad to see that there's still some fighting game references added in the game. The fight with the American Sports team was an awesome nod to KOF, as well as Shingo and Jacob, which was literally like having Sean and Cody from Street Fighter as party members. That's a pretty cool addition imo 😎
Honestly, one of the things I really enjoy about this game, apart from the many SNK/KOF references, is the drawn cutscenes. Besides Gardenias and the TV scene from Pointless, not many other fangames put thought in that aspect more commonly
I really hope Okay Edition comes out and makes Unbreakable feel way more fleshed out. I really like Tim's aesthetic, although the crutch is an odd choice. The sock stuff seems almost cooler.
Pretty decent overview on Unbreakable while showing the pros and cons of what the game has to offer. I personally thought the coolest part of Unbreakable was the world building it had setup. With a better designed map and a more cohesive story, this game could've been one of the more fondly looked at LISA fangames out there. But due to its weird ending and confusing backtracking, it left a bad impression on some people as it takes a bit of time to figure out on your own.
Also music used is in the description if you are interested. Thanks for watching. Kinda disappointed that it didn't get as much views as I thought it would but hei, it is what it is right ? Also I was wrong in the production part. Ed and Taco isn't directly involved in the production of Unbreakable. I thought their contribution played a bigger role.
I think the fridge-based attack is the the characters holding throwing tossing launching or slamming the enemy. And the fridge is the placeholder of the enemies.
@@snekdrekthe fridge stun actor guy lol. I just finished that game and gotta say, TOO mANY reference Lol. Now I'm wondering if I can see PSI in next chapter.
Here's a pretty wild guess: 1st We see things through Tim's Eyes And we both know he can see the future, past and present but he doesn't control it, maybe we're not seeing everything they have done?
I'm a bit late as usual but this was a great review. You really put in a loot of effort in, i like it. You did complain about Tim's character with how he get's everything for free but that's basically the point i feel, it should be explored further. He never learned how to fight yet has incredible powers. He fakes being crippled just to get the jump on his ennemies. He doesn't have any ambitions yet get's to success in anything he wants. I think that's an interesting choice that the game doesn't explore enough between the start until the end where he get's punished for it, despite actually making effort.
the crit for grapple isn't connected to if you do it on the first hit, the grapple move is set to crit 100% if you're under a certain amount of health, same as some other moves Tim has
21:03 i think that the fridge in some of tim and chin's attacks is a shorthand for them grappling the enemy/throwing them around, seeing as making an enemy sprite move in rpgmaker is really tricky
Awesome review! Unbreakable is so close to being an amazing Lisa game. Also something I just wanted to mention, I'm am pretty sure the Tim's character is based on the professional wrestler Mick Foley aka Mankind, they both are wrestlers that used a sock puppet named Socko as a weapon and they both had their ears' chopped off. And Balrog is presumably based on the wrestler the undertaker, both portrayed as an unstoppable force. I feel like if unbreakable''s story has a tighter allusion to Mankind's fight with the undertaker, then maybe the game would feel less like a disjointed mess. Like it could explain why Tim's a good fighter because he was into wrestling when he was younger and it could give Tim proper motivation by making him want take down Balrog to prove to himself that he is not worthless.
Man i wish you come back some day, i'd really love to see your opinion in the Blood And Sweatsocks Edition, definitely a huge glow up from the first version
from my experience the game was a really good time, tho the easiness and weird story were still a major issue (wtf why is Tim seeing Brad spiders ?) the mercenaries came a lil bit out of nowhere, except for best boy dragunov and as you said Balrog is way too underplayed for his design for me the fridge based attacks were just the charas throwing a random heavy object around. I'm glad to see that someone at leas tried to explain the issue of the game, it has a lot of souls anyhow and I sincerely hope it will have a future.
I love your review! I might actually check out the game thanks to you, my only criticism is that certain topics you talk about seem out of place in the beginning of your review. For example: production of the review (you can add these notes at the end for the viewer to choose to listen to). Another thing I think you could benefit from is an actual script, as this can help with closed captions later. Overall though, I thoroughly enjoyed the review! If you make more I’ll be sure to keep up with it
Honestly, the game really felt like reference overload in hindsight, to the point of seeming like a compilation of whatever popular memes the dev had last seen at the time of writing. It never got painfully BAZINGA-tier, but jesus christ, did I feel like I had played LISA The Redditful. Hopefully, he shows us how much he's improved with the next update, but goddamn it got bad, ESPECIALLY with how ENDING SPOILERS BELOW: the whole "dreaming in an empty room" thing was borderline plagiarized from that one MGS2 analysis. I really, really hope Fred isn't that much of a hack anymore.
one thing that confuse me is that the game is lisa the unbreakable after that the game has the okey edition but in the page of lisa fangames unbreakable got like another version called lisa the unbreakable: blood and sweatsocks edition

Got done on my first playthrough. It's really good! Always got the feeling that theres so much to explore and stuff, really cool.

The one thing I really can't wait is the rumored okay update for this game
wdym rumored it has a trailer

Also the message in 6:15 if from before fred uploaded the okay edition trailer, so probably it's not cancelled

Love how this graphical limitation became a whole ass character in Blood and Sweatsocks

Holy crap. This is a good info thanks!

Nice review btw

Lisa fangames reviews? Oh hell yeah, I'd like to see more of that
Before this video I thought Unbreakable is a game in development and isn't even ready
