    I've only been a rocketbook fan a few months but I fell hard for mine and wouldn't part with it now. Before I was using the mini 3 ring binder and 5x8 index cards design to meet my needs, it was heavy!....so much of it was must have though and not an option. When I received my rocketbook I ripped it apart. Inserted papers that I must have, labeled constant changing list, inserted 3 mo planner and am in love with my new creation...simple spiral binder put me back together :) It is always changing and always current. I am not repeating list but adjusting them as needed. I'm not ripping out weekly calendars and the only calendar I keep in there is the 6 page calendar for the quarter. repeated weekly events are on the right in the weekly page and the left side constantly changing. The way I set mine up with addition pages and folders in it and the way I can change items as needed has made my life so much easier and current. BTW I also use mine for grandkid pages for homework study/practice. We own 3 businesses and life is busy and good but rocketbook has made my life less stressful and weighed down.

      Wow, that sounds like such an interesting way to adapt the system. I'm struggling with going back and forth between Rocketbook, paper, and even digital planning because they all of positives and negatives. I think some form of adaptation might be the way to go. How did you take the Rocketbook apart? Have you put everything into a binder then to keep everything together?

    • @plf67
      @plf67 4 года назад

      Sarah Bouwkamp I have the punch machine and spines at the shop but I’ve also done it by hand...mine is broken into sections and it has paper, folders and rocket book pages. If you plan on putting it together by hand use 3 nails or thumbtacks upside down to line up your pages in the holes. This will make putting the spiral binder back in much easier than holding in your hand.

      @@JakeReevesVideo So, I've been journaling for a month. I decided to erase my journal at the end of the month instead of each week. I did the big erase, today!
      I started out thinking that I would try to fit everything that I do in a day in one section of a page, but I discovered that I like to combine the bullet journal idea with writing in a diary. So, I don't allocate any kind of set space for each day. I almost ran out of space in my journal. I had to order .38 size pens. They work really well for my writing style. I can cram more into a page without it looking messy.
      For future month, I use an online calendar.
      So, I combined a few ideas from you with a few ideas from other bullet journalers (is that a word? lol). Thanks!

I was wondering what do you carry with your Rocketbook when you leave hone? Do you take the cloth and one of those small spray bottles or do you take one of the brushes? For destinations, my go-to is Google Drive. I have a folder in OneDrive as well, but my primary is Google Drive. I haven't checked lately, but you couldn't set up the secondary text file for the transcript to OneDrive when I last tried, whereas you could with Google Drive. Hi Jake, first off I just wanted to express how good a reviewer and RUclipsr you are! I can't believe how interactive you are with your viewers and every piece of information is well thought out so that we can have the best experience possible. I have definitely used a lot of your tips and tricks, especially for my Rocketbook Fusion, and will be trying out different weekly templates after watching this video.
    I did have one question: I want to make sure that the templates are right before I use them in permanent marker. At 5:14 you mentioned that we should try templates out for a few weeks to make sure that we like it. How would you do that? Like how would you erase before writing in permanent ink? Wouldn't part of the template get messed up? Could you use the pilot pen and then write on top of those lines with the permanent pen, erasing the pilot ink after? Also what is your way for making sure that you don't make mistakes when using the permanent pen? I feel like it would be hard for me to see a misshapen letter or a not perfectly straight line every single week...TIA

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 года назад +1

      Thanks TJ! I'm really happy to hear that you find my content useful 👍 For the templating, my templates are sized for the Executive sized side bound Rocketbooks. I have since varied them a little, but those should be a good place to start. My suggestion is that you use a FriXion pen to make the templates each week (erasing everything after you upload) so that you know that the layout is going to work for you. After you know you like them, then be very careful and make them using the permanent ink. Here, you won't write over an existing line because that may cause the ink not to stick, so you'll have to just work from a fully erased page. Be really careful not to smudge the permanent ink with your ruler or palm, etc. It's likely that you'll make a mistake or two... I did and I just had to live with it or sacrifice the page. That is an unfortunate consequence. So make sure you practice for a few weeks and aren't distracted while you make the permanent lines. Good luck 👍✌️

I have been pseudo-bullet journaling in OneNote, but I miss writing so I thought that this would be the way to bring them together. Where do you keep your weekly bullet journal scans? Are you storing them as images with OCR on google drive? Do you find it easy to refer back when necessary? I’m trying to figure out what medium to start Bullet journaling. I am a fan of Rocketbook and have been using the Panda Planner since Sept 2020. Really I only use 3 types of pages - the Annual Planning ( which I’m now concerned may have been sitting there too long), the Monthly pages and the Weekly pages( that’s it!). As well, the weekly pages are not set up well for me so I keep crossing out and renaming the sections or just scribbling where ever there is space.

      I've started to set up mine so that one side (dotted) would be my two-week setup and the other lined side is my notes/brain dump.
      Though I like my ability to take free form notes without running up against the next weekly setup, it is confusing to flip back and forth between my week and notes that may relate to the weekly tasks. So, I was hoping to get ideas on your use of flip. Thank you!

    Nice job on the thorough, clear, and concise Rocketbook reviews. You have included lots of good information. I have used mine for about 14 months and finally decided to use a permanent marker to make templates. However, even after letting the fine tip Sharpie dry for hours overnight, the ink has still smudged slightly. Thinking the Frixion gel ink residue may be interfering with the Sharpie, I used alcohol to clean a few areas and tried the Sharpie again. Still seems to smudge after 1.5 hours with a fan blowing on it. Any suggestions?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 года назад

      I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the permanent markers Barry. I never had issues with them not drying after leaving them a few hours to air dry... I use the Sharpie Ultra-Fine tip makers because they are exceptionally narrow at the tip, which doesn't allow a lot of ink to pool together. I'm not sure if you were using the same or not, but I would try those if you were using one of their wider fine-tip markers. Thanks for watching!

How long should drying take for the truly permanent markers?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 года назад

      Oh, that will do it. It should take less than an hour I would think, but best to test by dabbing the page with a paper towel before using. Hey thanks for the videos! I just got my first rocket book and am thinking about making templates. I was wondering if there is a particular way you go about testing a template out before making it permanent? for instance maybe writing it in pencil? Also I am wondering, if you settle on a template can you trace over the temporary template in permanent marker or do you have to erase everything and then draw it out again? Thanks!

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  2 года назад +1

      Good questions. If you want to make a custom template permanent, you should try out the template for a few weeks using FriXion ink before you make it permanent. Also, make sure to clean the page of all ink before using your permanent marker to make your template - I wouldn’t apply the ink over a pre-existing mark. You also should not use pencil on the Rocketbook pages, only FriXion ink. Finally, use an ultra-fine tip permanent marker to get a nice thin line for your template 👍

    • @tbhv
      @tbhv 2 года назад

      @@JakeReevesVideo Thanks so much! Also I was just what you have found to be the fastest way to clean numerous pages in the rocket book? I am using a4 to journal 3 pages daily and the erasing 21 pages takes me about 20-30 mins! I was considering using a a hair dryer to make the ink invisible first but not so sure if that is a bad idea. Thanks again for being so helpful :)

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  2 года назад

      Don’t use a hair dryer. The synthetic pages warp if they are subjected to too much heat… That also won’t remove the ink, which will make it harder to write over time. Your best option is to buy a little spray bottle and spray one whole page, then wipe it (pulling away from the binding to not wrinkle the page). It takes about 10s to clean a page roughly… I do it weekly 👍

    hi JakeI am having so much fun reviewing and dreaming about uses - thanks to you and your commenters. I do not yet have a Rocketbook and something that will decide me is to know how useable the digitized text is. Could you please do a video about your handwriting to digitized text use cases, and answer two queries in particular: - do OCR destinations recognize writing produced when the page is rotated? (like your side titles "Brain Dump" for example) ? and secondly, what are the results and added value of digitizing bullet journal entries in particular? Please let us know if you could consider this new video, and especially, give a few pointers already in a text comment here ? (Hope I'm not too demanding - just excited!) THANKS

      I am actually editing a video as we speak about the different destinations and how the files appear depending on the service you use... It should be up Sunday 👍
      If you want to see what the digitized pages look like after scanning, I show a few in my video on all the different FriXion pens.
      As for the transcribed vertical text, I just tested and it does appear in the smart search ✌️ but how reliably will depend on how neat your writing is.
      I hope this helps!

      @@JakeReevesVideo Excellent! I guess it was the logical next step. I'll be here Sunday! I recall the digitized images in the Frixion pens video (results of color pens and highlighters), but did not notice examples of handwriting transformed to text that can be word processed. That is my primary interest. Thanks for everything!

    so you define a space on your blueprint as every two dots?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 года назад

      Yes, one 'space' is the gap between two further away dots or three of the right dots... It's a little bizzar

      @@JakeReevesVideo I'm assuming you use a permanent marker for the templates? What marker in your opinion works best for creating the permanent lines for the templates you create

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 года назад

      @@keithcorso385 I will be doing that soon, but I've been trying it out using the FriXion pens at first. If you do make permanent marker templates I would recommend using the extra-fine tip sized markers. Can't go wrong with sharpies, but other brands are good too 👍

    Have you ever tested Staedtler Lumocolor non-permanent pens in a Rocketbook? I can't seem to find any info online if they'd be safe to use and I really want to! 😂

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  11 месяцев назад +1

      I have not - you have to be careful because not all eraseable pens use similar formulations and the Rocketbooks are specifically formulated to work with the thermosensitive and water-soluble ink that FriXion pens use.

    How do you create a folder for each month in google drive? I am using a planner now as well.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 года назад

      You can set up each destination as a new folder, but I just put all of them into the same folder - which is why I title according to which week in the year it is. Now, I've started adding (MONTH) at the end of the title for the week that starts a new month to help me look things up quickly.

    Love the video, but how to handle the index?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 года назад +1

      I don't index my pages in the Rocketbook system because you can only leave ink on the pages for 30 days at a time to avoid staining - So, I keep my Bullet Journal to 2 weeks at a time, then use the document naming to store the cloud backups sequentially using the Rocketbook App. Using the OCR smart search features I can easily text search my old agendas quickly from the folder that they are stored in on Google Drive 👍 I hope this helps ✌️

    It seems interesting but:
    1- on my tablette I can’t see very well because you made the video for a computer (I can’t even imagine on a phone screen)
    2- it’s the 3rd of your video that I try to watch and I can’t follow because you don’t make proper pause to the end of your sentences. Ok I’m not a native english speaker but, I’m sorry, I can follow other video in English & actually, we had the same issue with a great guy who made video about history in french: he went too fast to not be too long.
    So I’ll tell you the key I found in the commentaries of his video:
    you don’t let enough time to the brain to properly figure out what your saying. So you’e not as instructif as you could be.
    And it’s a shame cause you’re saying very interesting things but I have to pause the video at each sentence and read the subtitles to know what you wanted to say.
    So I’ll watch it again and stop it to be able to understand what you’re saying but I hope you will zoom more and improve your « director ‘s cut » :).
    Thanks.
