Elegant Wall Appliques and Onlays // Budget Friendly Home Decor!!

- In this video I show you our onlays purchased on Amazon made by Ekena Millworks. We found these onlays when planning on giving certain spaces a more ornate baroque italian renaissance style. We love the way it looks with our paintings and frames. I show you other appliques I purchased at Lowe's and even some other pieces I found at the flea market in which I finished in my antique gold look. I show you my process of antiquing these for the look that I wanted. I show you around the areas in my home where I used these onlays and where I used the antique gold painted finish. Yes, I too have purchased the poly trim to go in my family room ceiling and it looks substantial and so nice. Just give it a coat of paint of your choice. So much cheaper than wood and you cannot tell the difference!!! Also, the embellishments over the doors look fabulous. They remind me of the Home Interior and Burwood products that were popular in the 70's at home parties. I have quite a few pieces of Home Interior on Ebay and sell a lot of it. It is popular because it is a lightweight resin material that is easy to hang, paintable in any color. I have seen comments about it being "plastic" and cheap. Believe me I have some beautiful pieces that are more affordable than wood or brass. Great job, you're the best !!

YES Ekena has some stuff! We just gave Wayfair $800 for polyurethane crown moulding installed, been looking at onlays now. Yep if there's a space we cover or fill it! Love seeing how you do the layered painting, hard for me to think outside the box sometimes. You must check out onlay lions griffins etc on Ebay called Rosa Bella Appliques, she 3D prints some real goodies, and reasonable. Do you grow Acanthus there? I would think it would like your climate, we have a couple here, there is a variegated variety also, really easy. Time for a garden and statues visit soon! Oh forgot to say earlier.... your wall paper is PERFECT! Happy weekend to you🥳

I absolutely love your home and style of decorating. It is very similar to how how I decorate my home. You did an excellent job on the onlay. I have an onlay above my front door. It is a brown color, and never thought about painting it. What a great idea! I will definitely be painting it gold and adding the cherubs.

I love this type of home decor. I'm British and gravitate to old English and French Estate Mansions. I believe it is part of who I am. Possibly an old soul. My question is this, you are an American I think so is your lineage British? Who were your ancestors. I believe in most cases our passions are a throwback of our heritage and upbringing.
That is an absolute fact ! English ...German ...Swedish ...Irish...Scottish ...all of these Ancesters speak to me during my life continuously ...some Germans settled in Romania its important to me somehow ! ...and when the western Europeans went to help in the crusades ! There may be a Greek and Italian in the wood pile ! These two call out at me as well ! Lol ! always knew who I was before I really looked into it ! Wall in your house full of many things
I have two wooden ones that were my late Dads. Unfortunately they don't fit anywhere in this house.
Seeing that gorgeous wallpaper up close was a blessing. I love it so much I could do this entire house with it. Be pretty pointless in my bedroom as there is literally no blank spots in there... Not even between the artwork and are butted up to the ceiling cornice. I think it makes the room look bigger. I wonder where I could find your wallpaper? It is divine as is your whole home decor x

I just love you guys style! It's so rich and elegant! I love this idea. I have a very large rounded doorway from my foyer into my great room and I would love to have something permanent in that space. I don't struggle to decorate this area for Halloween and Christmas but for all the other times of the year I struggle. I'm having a hard time deciding what I could place above my arch. I actually saw something similar to what you just showed in one of my recent trips to GOODWILL but it had cherubs. It was absolutely Gorgeous but I have no other cherubs in my decor . I love those millwork pieces. I'm looking for three actually for myself, but don't want to spend mega bucks. I gave a close by company that produces them in a plastic finish but haven't gone over there to look at them. Hopefully I'll get there soon. It looks great Jeff!

I want to tell you the name of the blue cobalt dinner plates which you said in your video you didn't know the name of them, is "Mt Pleasant" and sometimes called "Double Shield" I collected this pattern in the past, but presently only have a pattern called "Royal Lace" in cobalt blue. We both still work . Angela is in medical billing and edits all videos and music and all the other ancillary things that go with like our website ...Pinterest...Instagram.......I have worked residential construction my whole life ...5 years US Naval Submarine force... 10 years metal shop management....now I remodel rental homes......and film our videos manage our inventory.....but the background is a lifetime of art and collectables antiques .. Reading and being out in the business .. We had a store as well just in time for the economy to crash and sit there with no business ...back in the day 💙🌷📷🎬

I had been google eyeing your staircase trim in every episode....I thought Goodness they have a good Carpenter....lol and it's you! You two are some busy people!! I have to say, I have not come across another channel like yours. The attention to detail 👌is superb. And your education on the collections has helped me so much. I never knew there were cocoa pots or the difference from tea, coffee or cocoa pots until you explained it. Angela's editing is so professionally done that often it feels like an HGTV show. Hi ya I've got these in my hallway above my double glass doors into my living room . They always look elegant I also have the rose around my lights which are of the same material . They didn't cost much but looks a million dollars . I just painted mine white because the colours on my walls are duck egg blue in my hallway and lime mint green in living room . The ones in dinning room are white also with the Wedgewood blue wall at top and white panels at the bottem wainscoting . Also have it in my hall at the bottem . I found a wooden box about 3 yrs ago 3' X 18" X 2' high I painted it white and put a applique on the front like your scroll cherrib one it sits Infront of the windows in the living room . With a gold angel on top of mums . I wanted to do something above my front door outside but worried the weather would get to it . It's connected to front porch the door undercover do you think it would be ok ? The heat here can get bad 45 degrees Celsius in summer not to bad in the winter . Screw has a big head to see ....and a bigger hole in the plaster....a #4 finishing nail is the size of a medium sewing needle and will pry straight back out 😎💙

Love the millwork, it adds richness to any architecture, however I find there are too many portraits taking up all the space on the wall, which is distracting. There's too much clutter going on here. It's like not being able to see the forest for the trees.😐
It's a style of decorating. It's called a gallery wall. This is not a new concept and has been done and is still being done in many homes. Some people aren't familiar with it. If you google gallery wall you will see plenty of examples of this art design. Thankyou for watching and your comment.😊🎨🖼🎬
