@Joe Buck he was considered undersized for a defensive lineman, but definitely not 170 lbs; he was around the 280s and has the most sacks recorded by a nose tackle (137.5). He had a high motor that never shut off, and his "mic'd up" moments were legendary.

But it's not even just that, scheme matters for RBs. 90s Cowboys was very much a ground and pound style of football. There is a reason Smith had two 20+ TD seasons. It's not just because of a great O-Line, he WAS the redzone guy, he was the man who put points on the board. Truly an inspiring life.
I am picturing Walter Payton running behind Larry. Can you imagine for how many more yards Walter would have run if he would have had Larry in front of him?

I hardly watch sports anymore. But I have to admit, I miss Madden gushing over Larry Allen. It's rare to hear a broadcaster speak with as much enthusiasm about a lineman as they would a quarterback.

Just the fact that a 300 plus man can run that damn fast. Mind Boggling. That is like a freight train that usually goes 200 mph going 300 MPH obliterating ANYTHING in its path.

A 700 pound bench press?! That level of strength is scary!!!!

Always detested the Cowgirls and still do....BUT....that doesn't mean I have a blind eye to amazing talent and ability. Larry Allen was a ROCK!!! Truly amazing!!! His personal story is equally amazing. Just love that guy!!!

I always knew he was that dude, but I didn't know about the struggle. Why is there not a movie about his life?

Strength is not the same as endurance. Bob Sapp was a monster size MMA fighter that was very strong but he always got tired very quickly. There’s a fine balance between strength AND endurance.

Larry Allen set the standard for what offensive linemen in the NFL should be. Big, strong and athletic. He’s the offensive lineman GOAT.

Dabrikishaw Ferguson (pardon the spelling). Man was a beast of a linebacker. Son of a bricklayer. I never forget that because when he was playing I was a 20 year old kid laboring for my bricklaying uncle. Those 3 years I did that turned me from a skinny kid to a strong man.

I was a huge cowboys fan in the 90s had jerseys of almost everyone on the team, never found the Allen but had that Leon lett. I remember you always had to expect a few false starts with both them big boys lol
