Brought a fat spruce snare. Favorite thing i have on my kit. Can be warm. Can be sharp. Can be quite powerful too. Goes well with my Istanbul symbols and stage custom kit

I transferred the stock batter tom heads (G1 coated) to the resonant side, and put Evans UV2 in place.
The resonant side tuned higher rounds out the tone

Nice video and great jazz drummer! Would have preferred those drums tuned higher--to hear them in a jazz tuning range.

dogmart Well the purpose of the Spruce is too have a fat classic sound. Not tight. Its really aimed at groove based music like hip hop, classic rock, funk and jazz of all genres. If you want high tuning a maple is better. Point of a “fat” kit is too have a fat warm and punchy sound.

The best sounding drum kit I've ever heard & that's with the stock heads! I just wish they had some bigger sizes cause I play with LOUD electric guitars & small sized kits just get through the wall of noise. BUT it sounds GREAT!
