Why Not RV: Episode 112. Cheap and effective 30 amp RV Surge Protector. Unlike other 30 amp surge protectors I have reviewed, this one actually seems like a good option for those on a tighter budget. It gets the job done and works as advertised.

Great information video. Thanks Don
Thank you Don!
I like your to the point videos. I have a question about the Progressive 30amp EMS lock attachment. It appears to be a very small opening compared to some of the others I've looked at online. I've never had a surge/ems protector and wonder what to use to lock it. Can you help me. Thanks, d
I have never locked a surge/EMS. I do the hardwired versions myself so no experience locking them up
Have you ever had a surge protector that got hit with a surge? You will know because the MOV’s in those surge protectors only work once and done. Some more expensive ones have replaceable MOV’s.
Yes exactly. Some sell the replacements for if you get a surge other companies have warranties and they’ll replace it for free
They are all replaceable if you know how to solder
How important do you think this is if you also have a Multiplus? Doesn't that also regulate/clean up power?
A multi plus does have a lot for cleaning up voltage and hz but does nothing for a surge.
Question: If 30a is your only option and you have a hard wired 50a ems/surge already, will your system still operate normally? What does the hard wired 50a do when connected to the 30a pedestal?
Thanks in advance.
The 50a hard wired EMS will work just fine when connected to 30a pedestal. What year adapter does is takes one leg of 30 A and puts it across two legs into your RV. The EMS does not detect for a phase a.k.a. 120/240. It will receive 120 to both legs and the neutral and ground will be normal. It passes through power without issue.
Great question by the way. Hopefully my above answer explains it well enough. If not let me know and I can go further in detail
Great question.
What a ridiculous review. You have no idea whatsoever if this thing actually works without actually sending a surge through it. And yet you are blindly recommending this based solely on appearance. I am floored.
thanks for watching
