My dad Wilson Worth wrote this song back in the early 50s. He carried it to Nashville and left the lyrics and music with a record company. It was probably around 2000 that my sisters heard it on the grand old opry. He passed away in 2002 and never received any recognition for it.
My Daddy as well... Dad played 5 string banjo tho not near as good as Don Reno,But toward the end Dad would grab his 5 string. everytime my brothers came over ...we were all musicians from little guys,I hope Don's playing it for our Fathers😇
Don Reno, Red Smiley and the Tennessee Cutups played every morning around 6 or 7 AM on WDBJ TV channel 7 in Roanoke VA -like the early 1960's. I'm surprised they were able to record it with such clarity and preserve the recording. Brings back a lot of memories.
Back in those days they didn't have much they knew to do about diabetes. It cut the lives of many people short of the time they may otherwise have lived to. While he did live however he sure made great music!
My Daddy and Don were business associates during the 1970's. I have sent many hours listen to Don playing and listening to him tell stories about his life on the road. My Dad would talk about his time with Don and it was the highlight of his life. The are a select group of individuals that stand out in the bluegrass music genre as masters...Bill Monroe (Father), Mac Wiseman (Soul) , Bobby Osborne (Harmony), Kenny Baker (Bluegrass Fiddler) and Don Reno (Banjo)...Each one of these touch a spot deep within us and the rest build upon the foundation that these they layed.
This is one my dad songs,. He sang this and played his guitar.
Now this is the kind of music you could listen to for hours.

😢
If my Father wrote this beautiful Song, I think I would have to consult a very good Republican Attorney.
This was my Father's favorite song, towards the end of his life he would cry every time we played it.

My dad use to sing this...❤
Most excellent lyrics from that time period I’ve ever heard. And the delivery framing... priceless.
The main thing is getting right with the Lord. The Bible is coming true right before our eyes.
Don't get no better than this.

This song always reminds me of my pawpaw Junior Crowe. His bluegrass gospel band used to do this number all the time
Don Reno was such a good picker
nice song❤️
The Bass player John Palmer was later in Ray Price band The Cherokee Cowboys as his fiddle player. Several RUclips videos show him playing for Ray.
My Grandpa's favorite song ❤ miss him Johnny From Alabama
Nothing to beat this one.
This song has some age on it. It tells me truthfully that my Bible is more than dust a catcher, but directions for daily living at it's very best.😁
❤
The sweetest music this side of heaven! Incredible banjo and guitar playing also!

I live here in the deep Andes mountains south america and I use my Bible for wisdom and rolling paper , which we are short on at the moment.
Notice the g string rattle??...Reds geetar?. But love this!!.
Yeah, it's suppose to do that if set up properly. You want some rattle...If it's a real good guitar, it'll have that Martin rattle.
