    "John Connor: No, you shouldn't exist. We took out Cyberdyne over ten years ago. We stopped Judgment Day."

    The T2 director's cut had the perfect ending - when old Sarah Connor is sitting near the playground, Judgement Day never came and her thoughts are voiced - that we make our own fate! It was such a powerful scene to end one of the greatest movie sequels in history! The only other Terminator movie I would watch - would be the prequel to the first Terminator - that shows how Kyle Reese was sent to the past. Since my childhood I wanted to see a terminator movie that is set in the future, because the future war scenes in T1 and T2 were just sooooooo good.

      @@DocZFluxscientists largely believe that time travel is either impossible, or possible but it’s impossible to change history. And it’s not hard to see their reasoning. You just have to look at the grandfather paradox. If I travel back in time and kill my grandfather, my father won’t ever be born, and if my father isn’t born then I can’t exist, so how could I go back in time and kill my grandfather? In all likelihood if I did kill my grandfather it would result in a universe ending paradox. So changing history is either impossible, or a really bad idea.

    One could argue that the reason Judgement Day still happens, is because of John. John's father is Kyle Reese from the future. If Judgement Day doesn't happen, Kyle doesn't get sent back to protect Sarah and father John. It creates a time paradox.
    And Judgement Day being postponed is a possibility. While Dyson from T2 might've destroyed his work before dying, the company Cyberdyne could still have files and data on the Terminator microchip. As well as samples of Dyson's work.

    There was a removed plot line from this movie that they should have kept in. It explained all the plot holes between sequels, all the changes between sequels and why the date of Judgement day changes. It's basically a paradox loop.
    Skynet sends a Terminator back in time and one of the first thing it does is upload data to Skynet of the past. Meaning what made Skynet self aware was it's future self. The virus that was mentioned in Terminator 3 was in fact the T-X sending data to Skynet.
    Each time it sends a Terminator back it changes things to win that loop, but Skynet can't ultimately win because winning in the past means wouldn't send a Terminator back making itself self aware.
    The Human Resistance also get hold of this data, when they smash Skynet and are able to change things each time they themselves send someone/something back.
    Each time the loop begins anew the date of Judgement day is postponed by a few years.

    • @imjango1052
      @imjango1052 3 года назад +29

      Which is why I have a theory that the ultimate way to end the franchise is for Jon to stop the loop. If Jon, and it specifically has to be Jon, prevents the first Terminator from going back in time, the entire timeline collapses. Why does it have to be Jon? Because he himself is a paradox and a direct result of it's existence. If anyone else were to do it, it would create a new paradox (the whole "if you change your motive for going to the past, then you never would, which makes it happen all over again" argument). However, since Jon exists because of the paradox, his act of destroying the paradox is fully self contained. Sorry if I didn't explain that well, it's difficult to be coherent when talking about time travel.

    Despite all of the film's flaws, I absolutely loved the T-X concept. The weapons, the gadgets, the ability to control other machines and wirelessly tap into networks. Being a beautiful woman made sense, as a target would least expect a super powered sexy robot coming for them. Kristanna Loken is a great actress, and I feel like if this film was written and directed by competent creators, it would have been iconic. The T-X could actually be "the final boss" of the franchise, combining the best aspects and more of previous terminator models. The comics and the Redemption game based on the movie were both fantastic, so I know there was extreme potential for this story. Maybe when and if the franchise finds its footing again, we can revisit the T-X and previous models in a more impactful way.

      She honestly has the potential to be just as - if not more - threatening and badass as Robert Patrick; as well as even sexier. I'm Bi, I can drool over them both.
      But she's unfortunately used primarily for seductive factor. They don't allow her to be as dangerous or eerie as Patrick, or as menacing and dominant as Schwarzenegger. They did the exact opposite with Gabriel Luna in Dark Fate; but he was too threatening and badass but not attractive and incognito as the others. And that's not me shitting on him, he's still a damn good actor.
      The T-X literally punches a hole through a guy's chest to drive a car, but it's sadly not even Kristana at that point; so she doesn't get even a second to truly shine.
      But ever since T2, they've just struggled to make the Terminator's a perfect combination of the two sides. Hence why Robert Patrick is still the best one, and the T-X, T-3000 and Rev-9 will sadly be forgotten.

    They should have made it so that it was Skynet that "corrected" the timeline. The franchise starts with Skynet trying to change its fate by killing Sarah Connor. "No fate but what we make" actually applies more to Skynet because Skynet was the one trying to change the past in the first place. It would have been interesting if they focused a bit more on Skynet's side and how it's trying to survive.

    • @ArakkoaChronicles
      @ArakkoaChronicles 3 года назад +6

      That was actually a good idea from Genisys. Skynet could be sending someone back to make itself happen again after Judgment Day has been averted. Instead of "send more Terminators to kill John Connor, it sure worked the last thousand times", it could have been "send a Terminator to make Skynet so that Skynet can make Terminators". And the good guys are the ones doing the terminating.

It is an amazing show but introducing the idea of Terminators being sent back in time with missions unrelated to Connor was amazing. The episode where a Terminator is sent back to secure Kobalt steel in a bunker so that skynet has a large supply after the main war to make Terminators was so cool. especially when we see it succeed in the mission and then just shut down. Or The Terminator that was sent back to assassinate someone but is sent back too far so it lives a life to blend in waiting to get to the moment it originally was traveling back too. 5:25 I think the reason this kill wasn't shown was to keep the charade going. The audience at this point doesn't know that Robert Patrick is the baddie, so they might assume he's just knocking the cop unconscious out of necessity and as a positive side effect he got that neat disguise that opens all the doors. We can't see him as the killer yet because then the twist in the hallway scene with the *sigh* guns and roses loses its impact.

    I honestly really liked the twist at the end about him leading John and his future wife to a shelter, I think this movie could've been so much more RICH WITH DEPTH if it had been building towards that conclusion from the beginning.
    What if John's terminator had showed up claiming, "I'm here to help you stop Judgement day, (again) we've got a lot of preparations to make" while, throughout the entire movie, secretly tricking him into stashing weapons in key locations, moving supplies around, and helping secure future resistance bases that the evil terminator was there to preemptively destroy (along with John Connor.) It could've been so much better if John has to start doubting his terminator, wondering why they're doing all this seemingly pointless stuff instead of just blowup the Skynet mainframe. It would make the big reveal at the end, that he's been tricked into going in a bunker so much more meaningful if it felt like that's where the movie was leading him all along.

    I think the logic and reason behind why Oscars are not given to stunt doubles is to prevent reckless behavior. If you give an award out for the biggest stunt, this will encourage people to do bigger and harder stunts in order to win, which would result in more deaths and injuries for an already dangerous profession. Like how handing out prizes for getting kicked in the nuts would eventually lead to hospitalizations as people try to out do each other.

    I honestly hope you also talk about the Sarah Conner Chronicles. Yknow, the tv show that tried to exploit sexual appeal a lot with Summer Glau? IMO it actually started to take the franchise into some interesting directions what with teaching a terminator human empathy then attempting to use that terminator to brute force human empathy into Skynet, which led towards the creation of something worse than Skynet. Had a couple of jump the shark moments too, but it was better than the movies that came after...

Dude, you *watched him* melt in the steel. You *know* there are other robots of the same model. Why would you think this is the same one, or even if it happened to be the same exact robot sent back to a different point in time, that it would retain any of the memories of the T2 version of that robot?

    T1 was produced & owned by Hemdale Film Corporation and originally distributed in theaters by Orion Pictures. MGM now owns the rights due to buying Orion Pictures' library, who bought Credit Lyonnais' Epic Productions library, who bought PolyGram Filmed Entertainment's pre-1996 library, who bought Hemdale Film Corporation's library.
    T2 was produced by Carolco Pictures and originally distributed in theaters by TriStar Pictures. StudioCanal now owns the rights due to buying Carolco Pictures' library when they went under.
    T3 was produced by InterMedia and C2 Pictures. Warner Bros Pictures distributed it in North America while Columbia Pictures distributed it overseas.
    Salvation was produced by The Halcyon Company, and had the same distribution situation as T3.
    Genisys was produced and owned by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media.
    Dark Fate was produced and owned by Paramount Pictures (who distributes it in North America), Skydance Media, and 20th Century Fox (who distributes it overseas).
    IF any new entries come out, they will most likely be through 20th Century Studios, since James Cameron exclusively makes movies for them, and he has regained the character rights (Dark Fate was produced at the time the rights were transfering over).
