Interesting thing, two days ago at the DreamHack Open Sevilla 2019 Movistar Riders (local team) won a match vs BIG as the underdogs and the crowd was getting wild and excited, even the casters said about the passion of LATAM and Spanish crowds. After the match in an interview with Steel he said it was nice to HEAR the crowd and everything, then he corrected himself and said well not hear but you can FEEL it, its hard to explain.
I’ve been a fan of CSGO for what about 5 years now and have been watching competitive play since a bit before then and this concept has never registered in my mind.
There are a lot of unconstructive comments bashing on the fans and what not, but the problem is not really with the fans though. Cheering for your team and getting excited is part of the live sport experience. The problem lies with the event organizers or perhaps the format of the events in general. Both teams should be completely isolated from the crowd and their opponent during games. Both visually and audibly. That might be the only way to preserve the integrity of the game . However that would cause the players to be disconnected from the event and the crowd during the games, but that should be a small price to pay to keep the game fair and clean.
Meh, one way screens and good sound proofing. Yes players might then not see the crowd but in rounds it would change. Also players shouldn't see the other team (remember the old flash incident) .
I know I'm in the minority here, but I love the way the crowd gets hyped. even if it gives away positions and plays. It's part of the experience when viewing, especially being there. Sick of reading comments here that just say to "shut up", it's a spectator sport, it's part of it. Let people get hyped and excited, if you've never been to a match go and you'll see how much the crowd/atmosphere adds. On the other hand, yelling legit call outs is straight up disrespectful to all players, and people with signs should be taken out of the arena. Great video btw
The sign thing for vp was definitely cheating, and those guys with the signs should have been kicked out. I don’t think the crowd cheering is cheating, as it happens for both teams. Nothing the players can do to prevent it, and if they can hear it obviously they aren’t going to ignore the information. Just my two cents
Sadly by the time the staffs realize, vp already finish their CT side and the sign is pretty useless. Idk would it change if the sign doesn't exist, but some people said c9 got robbed for that final.
Shroud in one stream said that one of the ways to get info in lan tournaments was to throw a HE, cuz if some enemy was nearby, the explosion would be louder than the "in-game" sound that you can actually hear it through the casters/spec mode
casters are not allowed to speak of such stuffs that will bring negative image towards the game, same goes to when you see bad stuttering but they don't address them . its part of their job to promote the game, not criticize it
They do mention i occasionally, I dont habe timestamps but I have heard it at least twice in this compilation (I only watched half) where they comment on them getting and inkling or that the crowd reaction was helping
1-way mirrors and sound proof booths should fix these problems. It would prevent people cheating with signs and also any distractions like laser pointers as well.
That simple clip wasn't him getting a clue from the fans. That was simple hearing either the door opening or some steps, and he was showing the crowd how good his awareness is. He threw the gun to tell the other player, I know where you are
These situations remind me so much of tennis. People just cheer before it's really over and this plays into the people on court, which could annoy them (especially since tennis is practically a battle with yourself besides your opponent) or give players false calls. Low level players might not notice well, but at top tier tennis, a sound can tell you what kind of shot is being played and the "strength" of that shot. Some people even have a delayed swing or fast swing so sound is even important there to identify when the ball is hit. All the crowd has to do is to shut up until the round is actually over, then you can cheer all you want.
The best way is not to kick or ban people out but to use special glass so that fans see them gaming but they don't see anything. That's easy, I don't know why they still didn't make it.
It's very simple to do, but not cool for the players. 1. Use one way tinted windows, so the crowd can see them but for the players it's like a mirror. 2. Sound proof cabin, more sound proof than it's now. 3. Vibration proof cabin, they won't hear it but they will feel the cabin shake a bit. The cabin would need to have this foam outside to make the cabin less shaky and use some springs so it doesn't transfer vibrations.
This is the exact reason other esports games force a delay for commentators/audience. Much like League of Legends I believe it's a 5 second delay between the players and the audience
This is why I love siege pro league. They're set behind soundproof boxes, a wall blocking them and the crowd, behind the giant montior, and wearing noice cancelling headphones on top of ear buds. No chance of cheating. They can't have phones, USBs, or any portable electronic on the stage that isn't their mouse, keyboard, and earbuds. Everything else is provided. There's no chance of cheating
I feel like the boxes the players are in should be sound proof. Spectators shouldn't be allowed to interfere because of blatant cheating however if the crowd does eventually give the players an advantage it shouldn't be the players fault to listen to them because who wouldn't, and it's also a lot easier to think when the only thing your hear is the game and your team mates
I get their over-the-ear headphones are “supposed to be soundproofs” but the crazy crowds that get loud over positions annoy me. But then again, how amazing do you think it is to feel the rawr of the crowd when you do an insane play. It’s just hard to judge imo
So...why that headphones dont mute all sound and why that cabines dont muting too...? Okay they can see reactions...venetian mirror can solve the problem
StalkerON kills pretty much the whole vibe of a lan tournament....I am sure the crowd can go up to 120 dB.....so it’s kinda tough isolating the players from them....and a mirror completely destroys the purpose of a lan tournament and the connection between players and fans (fans just shouldnt be such cunts like these VP ones in the video with their signs. Or the SK ones with their calls. Should be immediately kicked the arena in my opinion. Disgraceful behavior)
200 people chanting at once in a closed room with big walls and empty space. sound proofing wont mute crowd im sure what the pros hear is muffled and a bit quite but just enough
From what I heard due to fire safety they are not really allow to have sound proof room in NA. So the whole tournament have to rely on soundproof headset, which we all know how well it work. There are really no fix, other than having the crowd to be quiet.
"Sound proof" from a physics perspective doesn't exist. Unless you literally remove the air (since sound can't travel in a vacuum) you can only dampen the sound. As long as air exists, you'll never be truly able to remove the vibrations. I don't think signs are a problem, however, as you cannot see outside the booth at all if the inside is well lit and outside it is completely dark.
The rooms aren't very soundproof. They definitely block some out already though. If you didn't know, they can't really hear through their headphones though. That's why they're not allowed to take them off. So when the crowd shouts, it really makes no difference. BUT, the signs are an issue.
Rowdyness is just an extra little add on bit of entertainment if you ask me... Screaming point names. rude, but hard to manage... Signs "really," kick them the hell out.
ive worn those type of headphones with earbuds in them before and trust me they cannot block out alot of sound so u can hear alot of the crowds chants and roars
This just throws the way one of the core aspect of the game. Stealth play. So so so many plays can be made when you are stealth but crowds will always ruined it
Back in IEM Sydney 2018 when the last guy alive from Mouse Sports was saving on Inferno the entire crowd started chanting “LI-BRARY, LI-BRARY” and of course Astralis chased them down and killed them. It was the funniest shit though
that was the best play i've ever seen in this game, many think that coldzera with his jumping double on mirage is the best play in cs go but I say that was something extraordinary. It is a clear demonstrator to how far cs go level can be achieved and how much a team could develop.

Not to mention soundproof booths are expensive.
In the last crowd cheat, the fan screamed "biblioteca", which means library
6:40 a true skill.
The crowds reminds me of that annoying people who'd watch you play csgo in a pc rental place and constantly telling you where the enemies are
Good video idea and well executed.
The rooms aren't very soundproof. They definitely block some out already though. If you didn't know, they can't really hear through their headphones though. That's why they're not allowed to take them off. So when the crowd shouts, it really makes no difference. BUT, the signs are an issue.
Wouldn’t adding a 5 second delay solve most of this?
Conguy97 well the audience would be able to see the players reactions of winning or losing before the round ends which would ruin the suspense
crowd wants to see a knife kill but also starts yelling to prevent the knife kill
Plot twist: s1mple threw the pistol to bm
Oh my gosh the VP crowd at the PGL Major was insane. I don’t really think the staff there couldn’t do anything about it since they were so loud haha
nice video as usual 👍
Thank you!
Its funny that i saw all of these clips before watching this video and i didnt realize that the crow was helping
10:15 "Biblioteca" (library)
Love the sense of humor of some of these guys. Just walking right behind a pro to knife him in the back in a match that matters lol
5:40 ahahahahahha
you can see from s1mples face that he heard crowd, i like to think that he throwed weapon over wall so guy on short knows his position too
mipa6666 huge respect to simple
This just throws the way one of the core aspect of the game. Stealth play. So so so many plays can be made when you are stealth but crowds will always ruined it
90% of the comments: He said Biblioteca which means Library in Portuguese at 10:13
8:32 Ah! so that's what game sense means... I didn't know I needed a crowd beside me to have game sense
I don't think the signs are fair at ALL, but the roar of the crowd can't really be helped
the brazilian fans were chanting “Biblioteca”, it means “library” in portuguese, it is how we callout that place
You didn't include the boston major, where the crowd pretty much gave Cloud 9 the win
salty faze fan lol
(not even a c9 fan)
lets mine the salt guys
And choke 9 fans think that Cloud 9 won because of talent😁😁😁😁😁
@@bks972 Crowd 9 *
@@ZuNk hahaha nice😂
I went to IEM Chicago recently and noticed this multiple times. It led to quite a few moments like these.
janelaaaaa
janelaaaa... boaaa
Simple is going to heaven for that sportsmanship.
Back in IEM Sydney 2018 when the last guy alive from Mouse Sports was saving on Inferno the entire crowd started chanting “LI-BRARY, LI-BRARY” and of course Astralis chased them down and killed them. It was the funniest shit though
man s1mple is so honorable he doesn’t want to win by cheating props
Sound proof booths and noise cancelling headphones at every major event
Can we all just appreciate this teamwork?8:11
basic boost happens even in silver
nothing special
that was the best play i've ever seen in this game, many think that coldzera with his jumping double on mirage is the best play in cs go but I say that was something extraordinary. It is a clear demonstrator to how far cs go level can be achieved and how much a team could develop.
In the last one they were chanting "biblioteca", which means "library"
Pro: pulls out the knife
Crowd: OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH
