Amazing video! I have been having an eye out for block tales ever since unknownguy (Main developer and owner) posted on his channel videos still testing the game, that game even before being released to the public in a demo looked so good, me and my other buddies are so excited for demo 3! Also, if you are reading this bedsheet, there are some things you missed or just decided to leave out of the video. The game DOES have cards that cost more than 3 bp and (iirc) safe guard doesn't negate ALL damage but instead reduces damage when defending, not when good blocking or great blocking. You completely flew over talking about bux, which are basically the star pieces from paper mario ttyd. You probably didn't know but you can change your gui color AND battle animation on the game's settings, that is a pretty obscure and out of the way thing so I think the game should prompt you once you create a save file to change those (Like in earthbound where you are asked what gui flavour you would want when starting a save) and lastly, alot of the team that is working on block tales has or is working on Rolve also which possibly explains why the game is extra well made. anyways thanks for reading this wall of text comment! (Also waiting for the day Bedsheetghost makes a video on Find Everything by polyhex)
tip: it’s not underrated AT ALL. Demo 2 release got a highest count of 20k-25k players and it was kept like that for a week straight. Guess that’s onto replayability if the game only has 500 players for a bonus to the people whos going to argue it needs 1m players, block tales discord server took barely a year to get 100k members while whirlpool studio (obby creator, 2k concurrent players) took 4 years for 20k, tumore (the battle bricks, 500-1k) took 2 years for 10k and vd (minus elevation, 10-100) took 3-4 years for 10k and some other games obviously nobody knows
@@Idrisroblox_dev do you realise how high it is for a game to have consistent 300-700 players? they earn A LOT from that already (its like people saying 20k sub youtubers arent famous or something like that when numbers arent just math and each of the numbers is a person with a life of 30 years) also 20k can be considered high and not moderate 1k-100k games are on another level and can honestly be considered overrated at one point
@@magic8guy of course it isnt that much but thats because youre setting the bar too high, notice that bucketbazard guy to donate 100k to the game? hes the owner of the game the battle bricks with like 400 players at the time he donated. do you know how much that is? to have that much spare money to donate that much you already know 300-700 isnt exactly underrated
this review would be better if you mentioned the fact the gameplay is almost entirely inspired or just directly taken from paper mario, theres barely anything earthbound inspired in comparison to paper mario
Nah i'd say there's a good balance of elements lifted from both series, and there's plenty of things that both the Mother series and Paper Mario share, namely the quirky dialogue.
5:20. I don't usually say this, but this is kind of what one might call "a skill issue." Admittedly, I have 280 hours on this game, but you can absolutely do these consistently without nearly that much time. Also, the battles aren't even 30 fps. It's the animation style that makes it look low frame rate. Projectiles move more fluidly at higher fps. For many attacks (including and especially Tree Golem's Jump Slam and Cruel King's Scepter Strike), listening to the audio might help you greatly Also the Safe Guard card only blocks 20% of damage, not all damage on a good block
Trust me when I say this; the rolling health bar matters. If you watch people do hard mode squad runs then youll realize how much it can help you clutch rough battles which compared to if enemies just delt flat damage instantly.. itll just feel like there was truely nothing you couldve done which could definitely kill the vibe. The rolling health also adds tension to when you get attacked!
(Haven’t watched the video yet) Yeah block tales has very little players now but with the demo 2 released it got *20K* so best believe it’ll get at least 25k for demo 3
20k is probably not right. Demo 2 was like 15k players when it first released, because most big updates in GnB has like 15 k players playing after it. And gnb is a giant roblox game.
@@RandomDude-sy8ri gnb is a really big game averaging around 10k players, you'd know how big this game is when you see the visits and how long this game kept an average of 10k players. For block tales, it hasnt gotten any boost yet from todays picks like gnb had.
I hate that roblox pushes bad games to the front to make the most money out of players. I’m glad people like you cover the good games pushing them to the front.
Turn Based RPG’s/JRPGS are the best RPG’s. First Two Paper Mario Games, Earthbound, Legend of the Seven Stars, Mario & Luigi etc are what I think most RPG’s should be. Also bro completely forgot about the Paper Mario inspiration. I think the Paper Mario Inspiration is way bigger than the Earthbound Inspiration. Cards are literally just badges. Battle system is exactly like Thousand Year Door with without the Style Mechanic. Some Cards are literally taken from Paper Mario 64 and Thousand Year Door. Red and Blue Noob are just like Goomba Bros. The Spindash is just like the dash move from Paper Mario 64. And MUCH MUCH MORE
i have spent 9 hours and 53 minutes in this game since demo 1, this game gets the money that they deserve because of it's well thought out story that has fillers that actually make sense and doesn't feel grindy
8:05 he gives you an apple pie if you make him smaller by using a magnifiying glass item apple pie gives +2 atk power and there are only 2 ways to get apple pie
Another Note: Even if you miss ending a Hidden Card in the early run, you can find it later on in other chapters. Although if you happen to get both and also BUY the cards from the vender at the main town. You can apply the same card more than once. (I use HP+ to get 55HP as of today.)
2:58 it’s much more apparent when you are playing hard mode or with any other card that increases damage taken, other than that it is still useful for high damage dealers and bosses, to save on a bit more health.
now that demo 3 is out it is especially apparent when fighting wrath on hard mode with low maximum health. You miss one dodge and you’re basically one-tapped. The gradual health decline comes in handy a lot more then
Prob one of the reasons are because it barely updates, and it only takes like, 2 weeks at max to explore everything the chapter has to offer. (pls don't come after me, I love it, but I can see why it's not popular)
i'd say its more based towards paper mario, just not the mario and luigi series though. paper mario I believe was the very first (and if not, assuming that super mario rpg also has blocking) game to have guards and superguards
I love how in blocktales if an enemy deals heavy damage to you instead of all of it damaging you at once it slowly drains your hp until that amount of dmg was dealt and you can heal in time before you die But IF YOU HAVE SOME TEAMMATEEEEE THAT TAKES TOO LONG TO PICK YOU ARE DEAD litterary you can like heal yourself before you die and if your gonna die from the heavy damage you get highlighted RED so that you know your gonna die i like this system
There was also another turn-based RPG game called “Adventure Story” made by Vetexgames. However, the developer stopped anymore development on Adventure Story and hasn’t received a new update in over 3 years, which is sad…
@@nineret Still trying to use pfps as an argument in late 2024 is the only ironic thing here. It's not even about Undertale, lol. Maybe if you are trying to shame someone for their pfp next time, don't use a furry in yours?

Love the little tid bit where if you continuously rematch the king in the weird guru place he will slowly hate you less the more you fight him and eventually wishes he hadn’t been so hasty in fighting you in the first place.
it does have a good player count, it just lowers sometimes because there's not too much side content, like, after you're done with the main story all you have to do left is the pit
There isn't so much players rn because there isn't many things to do. Sometimes I see there are like 1K active players. But when demo 2 was recently uploaded there were more than 7K active players
Overall after the pit the game kinda becomes boring unless you play with friends (but all my friends either don't like block tales or don't know what it is), so overall you just have to "find" people
bro i love rpgs so much im making one myself, it's called xtreme minigames, inspired by undertale and earthbound and whatever, wish me luck. also here is the starting thing text for the game: 25 years before today, in a place called Redon.. Everybody was smiling, everybody was laughing.. Or.. most were… There was an entity, or living resembling a Pumpkin. It was called the “Snuldilips” The Snuldilips was charging its power.. It eventually finished their charge, following with an attack on Redon. *Flashing Images and Art Of Monster Attacking* That day was known as the Day Of Horror… Everybody was cast to an unknown land, far far away… 10 years before today, we had settled into this land, found resources, and built homes and structures. There also formed a group of people who called themselves the hunters. They found a way to get out of this place. A magical, coin shaped token. It was called the “Minigame Token.” You use these tokens for accessing different areas in the Far Away. As your time and effort resists to exist, you will get more. You.. you are.. *Display Players Name As It Flashes Dramatically* it's a work in progress pls don't judge i already know its goofy (EDIT: OMG 3:13 I USED TO LOVE THAT GAME, GENERALLY JUST MARIO TOO) (Another Edit: I was here before 100k :))
Sophomore here. Me and my friends LOVE THIS GAME!! Honestly I never thought I’d actually go back to a roblox game. Me and my team were strategizing, choosing who should you what cards, and who should use what. The last time I did something like that was Mario party!! THAT WAS 2017!! Not even the big boy companies like Nintendo can make me replay their games! But this game CAN! This games is absolutely AMAZING and for anyone reading this, PLEASE PLAY THIS WITH FRIENDS!!
I do think Happy SP is a bit overpowered, it makes it so much more fun when playing with friend. We were suffering on chapter 3 Hatred and hard mode, but i kept reviving him and not allowing him to die. I revived him at least 5 times in that game, and it was still very hard. I think keeping it in the game but only allowing one to be equipped is the best option to have a little boost to add on to a build.
i have always found these people who glaze roblox games for a living stupid since 90% of the time they're just glazing a copy of a game outside roblox basically ported to roblox, i still watch them though, sometimes..
@@andreacorrea5921its not glazing its love for passion projects and these "ported games" are absolutely free made by a typical guy not multimillionare company its made with passion and it has its own style.I think you dont know the definition of "ported" its when you directly port something exactly the same to somewhere else. While roblox adaptations have their own style and charm
And just the other day, a new chapter dropped which actually circumvented a couple of the issues stated, battle animations are smoother and easier to block and happy sp was changed to every 3 turns
Another underrated but good turn-based rpg game is arcane lineage the progression is really unique and fun, it also has many classes and a lot of lore. You should try it out
If you have trouble blocking or countering, use the Training Wheels Card! It helps you by showing a ! Sign when a attack is shown, a indication for you to block or counter, if its ranged or melee, whichever. Im at Chapter 3, and im STILL using Training Wheels haha. I just cant get the timings, so this card is super good for timing blocks or counters for fools like me.
This game is my favorite on roblox without a doubt, and I’m always so excited to hear about the next demo coming out, so for now, it’s the greatest current roblox game :)
chapter 1: serious king guy worried about his kingdom; possesses several simps chapter 2: maniac and sadist trying to achieve more powah chapter 3: fighting your inner demons, reusing SEVERAL assets from previous chapters (i seriously thought each would have a seperate story, not that they are connected directly, such as with the return of banished knight as a shopkeeper); suprisingly the best chapter yet despite this.
It doesn’t matter how many people praise it, it will never be enough to put into words how revolutionary Block Tales is, and I hope to see more games in the style in the future once this one is completed.
A Special Thing About Block Tales is The Development, Certain Major Part of the Game were already done in development background, the rest development time were spend on polish up and make it an actual quality playable chapter which mean Main Part of All Chapter Development could have been completed by now but still put in development because polish up is the biggest part and probably a reason why it came out one by one, They also adding more content after that so it took more time in order to make it “Perfect” by their standard.
hella good but it was bound to have low players since its currently finished (it doesnt take that long to catch up with the game in its current state), it would probably have a lot more players if it launched with a full release rather than indev

The classic theming is almost everywhere as each areas are refrencing old roblox games like roadtown and blackrock being a possible refrence to crossroads and some up comming content like the mansion being refrence to the classic haunted mansion and a zeppline that is probably from that one old game about zepplin (i forgot the name probably called zeppline wars or smth like that)
I love finding yet another quirky earthbound inspired RPG, its my favorite genre
Guess that’s onto replayability if the game only has 500 players
for a bonus to the people whos going to argue it needs 1m players, block tales discord server took barely a year to get 100k members while whirlpool studio (obby creator, 2k concurrent players) took 4 years for 20k, tumore (the battle bricks, 500-1k) took 2 years for 10k and vd (minus elevation, 10-100) took 3-4 years for 10k and some other games obviously nobody knows
but it deserves 1 million its still underrated
@@Idrisroblox_dev do you realise how high it is for a game to have consistent 300-700 players? they earn A LOT from that already (its like people saying 20k sub youtubers arent famous or something like that when numbers arent just math and each of the numbers is a person with a life of 30 years) also 20k can be considered high and not moderate
1k-100k games are on another level and can honestly be considered overrated at one point
the real "underrated" are the games with EXTREMELY good content, replayable (this is the keyword) and stuff but only has 10-300 players
compared to bigger games, it’s not that much
@@magic8guy of course it isnt that much but thats because youre setting the bar too high, notice that bucketbazard guy to donate 100k to the game? hes the owner of the game the battle bricks with like 400 players at the time he donated. do you know how much that is?
to have that much spare money to donate that much you already know 300-700 isnt exactly underrated
this review would be better if you mentioned the fact the gameplay is almost entirely inspired or just directly taken from paper mario, theres barely anything earthbound inspired in comparison to paper mario
Nah i'd say there's a good balance of elements lifted from both series, and there's plenty of things that both the Mother series and Paper Mario share, namely the quirky dialogue.
it's WAY more apparent that it's inspired by paper mario, as it literally states in desc
bro really said "i'm gonna pretend i didn't see that"
The emotion part in demo 3 could probably be an earthbound inspiration
@@conorganism I haven't gotten there yet (still on demo 2 part) so i don't really know about that
For many attacks (including and especially Tree Golem's Jump Slam and Cruel King's Scepter Strike), listening to the audio might help you greatly
Also the Safe Guard card only blocks 20% of damage, not all damage on a good block
I'm sorry but what were you exactly doing in the game to have 280 hours?

Trust me when I say this; the rolling health bar matters.
If you watch people do hard mode squad runs then youll realize how much it can help you clutch rough battles which compared to if enemies just delt flat damage instantly.. itll just feel like there was truely nothing you couldve done which could definitely kill the vibe. The rolling health also adds tension to when you get attacked!
(Haven’t watched the video yet)
Yeah block tales has very little players now but with the demo 2 released it got *20K* so best believe it’ll get at least 25k for demo 3
20k is probably not right. Demo 2 was like 15k players when it first released, because most big updates in GnB has like 15 k players playing after it. And gnb is a giant roblox game.
Though, for demo 3 it will prolly get 18k. Because most of the more players, are new ones.
@@IplayunderratedrobloxgamesE”giant Roblox game” yea right 😂
@@IplayunderratedrobloxgamesE No I saw the game with 20k with demo 2’s release.
8:05 he gives you an apple pie if you make him smaller by using a magnifiying glass item
apple pie gives +2 atk power and there are only 2 ways to get apple pie
Apple Pie could be bought from a shop, but it was TOO OP that the devs removed it
@@3-5-9-0 im talking about the newer methods
Another Note: Even if you miss ending a Hidden Card in the early run, you can find it later on in other chapters. Although if you happen to get both and also BUY the cards from the vender at the main town. You can apply the same card more than once. (I use HP+ to get 55HP as of today.)
Fun Fact! You can get 3 Happy SP cards.
There’s also eventually going to be more
2:58 it’s much more apparent when you are playing hard mode or with any other card that increases damage taken, other than that it is still useful for high damage dealers and bosses, to save on a bit more health.
now that demo 3 is out it is especially apparent when fighting wrath on hard mode with low maximum health. You miss one dodge and you’re basically one-tapped. The gradual health decline comes in handy a lot more then
amazing video bro :)

I played Blocktales a bit a few weeks ago, and whilst it‘s not my cup of tea, I love the game‘s execution
its not underrated, it just died out and the players are waiting for chapter 3
during its peak, it hit 50k concurrent players multiple times
chapter 3 here now (/e dance)
Prob one of the reasons are because it barely updates, and it only takes like, 2 weeks at max to explore everything the chapter has to offer.

I love how in blocktales if an enemy deals heavy damage to you instead of all of it damaging you at once it slowly drains your hp until that amount of dmg was dealt and you can heal in time before you die But IF YOU HAVE SOME TEAMMATEEEEE THAT TAKES TOO LONG TO PICK YOU ARE DEAD litterary you can like heal yourself before you die and if your gonna die from the heavy damage you get highlighted RED so that you know your gonna die i like this system

the thousand year door
I played that game because of this game and deeply enjoyed it
Man every chapter that comes out will be like the release of an episode.
anther game that is really good but has no players is tunneler and it fells unfair...
it does have a good player count, it just lowers sometimes because there's not too much side content, like, after you're done with the main story all you have to do left is the pit

Considering where block tales got it’s gameplay and game design from; art imitates art.
