    1. rest, no talk
    2. water, coffee and milk no good
    3. breathe in steam, moistens throat and vocal tract, nasal passages, resonant areas
    4. breathe in through nose instead of mouth esp. when cold
    5. vocal cord to default closed position, do glottal pulps, open and close glottal, create subglottal pressure with core as about to say something, make it nice and light
    6. then falseto fall, starting high and go progressively lower
    7. hot potato, owl noise while blowing hot potato

I’ve spent all day panicking that I was going to let everyone down but a few of those exercises have got me sounding almost normal again - you’re a lifesaver!

I would like to say thank you for this video! I am out all weekend, every weekend, and my voice is tired. Yesterday morning I couldn’t speak! I did lots of things in preparation, such as vocal straw warm up, voice rest all day, with your exercises in between, throat coat tea, constant water, Difflam spray and Strepsils to numb the soreness, and by the evening, I could sing again! I have to do it again for tonight, but then I’m ok voice rest for the week. Your exercises kept my vocal folds together! 🙏🏽

My absolute pleasure. One great tip is not to showboat unnecessarily... we're all prone to a bit of showing off, thinking that's what's required, however the difference between pushing too much and going down a gear is the difference of you loosing your voice x

Thanks Jimmy, after over a year of wheezy coughing, phlegm and weird wheezing, whistling and bagpipe noises when exhaling in bed at night,I had almost lost my voice just before Christmas.I came across your channel, and have been doing your voice exercises for the past days,to the amusement of my family. The effects are really encouraging, my voice is getting back to normal, the urge to keep clearing my throat is subsiding and the sounds of the vocal exercises have gone from very ragged to more and more smooth.I’m nearly 74 and thought I might be on a downhill slide to a permanent weak voice, but now I’ll have your glottal pops, falsetto drops, and hot potato with me wherever I go.Cheers Bob

Hello there and, good afternoon (well, at least here in Spain). I have a question for you.I've had trouble with my stomach for quite a few years now, which has led to acid reflux and damage to my vocal chords. The specialist took a close look and told me my throat is full of phlegm and my vocal chords are super thin. I got a recommendation for a speech therapist, but I wanted to see if I could find anything online. And guess what? I stumbled upon your channel after watching a few videos. Your tutorial is so much better than the rest I've seen, and it has examples that you can actually use.
I am drinking lots of herbal tea. I don't smoke, nor do I drink coffee or alcohol. I am a keen cyclist and very active. Which leads me to another question about breathing through the mouth when riding. Could this be damaging to my vocal chords? And then I wanted to ask you about dairy. It seems there are split opinions amongst doctors and such about whether or not this could actually be a cause of phlegm build up in the throat. I would appreciate any feedback you can give. Well, thanks for all the helpful tips. I will try the exercises and keep tuned into your channel. Cheerio! 👍🏻

Hi Nick, it sounds like you're doing all the right things.. cutting down dairy, coffee etc. Try breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth when riding. The cold air passing over the folds when breathing in through the mouth is causing the problem. Best of luck.

Alright Brother I have to give you PROPS..... I have literally done thousands of presentations in my career, more accurately tens of thousands of presentations and I have techniques for sudden loss of voice due to post nasal drip etc., the ONLY thing that I cannot deal with is a cold that causes you to lose your voice the morning of a presentation..... I watched the video and did all 7 items that you recommended then repeated all of the harmonics while driving to the presentation and I made it through without issue, one hour of non-stop speaking and I literally had no voice when I woke up a few hours ago. Thank you! The only thing I did in addition to what you said was I took some really strong ibuprofen just thinking that my body may have sent swelling to the area around my voicebox to try to heal it on its own thinking the ibuprofen might alleviate that swelling. If you have any info on whether or not that was legit I would like to know the answer. Thanks again.

Mr. Cannon, I have cancelled my appointment because my Insurance Co. told me, when I asked them, that it will cost me $320, and since I have my voice back I do not see the need. I had been told that I had an appointment at ENT on November 28, 2022, then when I checked, the appointment has disappeared and bumped January 13. $350 will not give me peace of mind.
