Louis Theroux has a unique style, he manages to be respectful to the subject manner while still exposing what needs to be exposed. He also seems to have no ego which is very disarming and helps people open up to him even though they know what he is up to. Just a genuinely good bloke.

I read an article interviewing Tom Cruise a few years ago, and it was pretty favorable, the reporter went to one of his homes and told what they spent the day doing, etc. And then in the last paragraph, he talked about when he was leaving, he was just feeling so good, felt like he and Tom had made a real connection, that he'd got some great material, etc. Then it hit him as Tom turned to go and he walked to his car...he'd never even been invited inside. He spent the whole day with him, outside. And he just thought that was kind of a metaphor for the whole experience--Tom kept his walls up, even while making you feel like he's your best friend.
