Put an old pair of socks over the hooks. Zip tie or velco wrap in place. Or use Crown Royal bags, cinch string to secure.
Problem solved.
1:57 in regards to marring up the paint/clearcoat with the DeWALT clamp/hooks, I use a brand new micro-fibre cloth wrapped around each end. Cheap and easy fix that leaves the finish spotless.
I can see how this light would come in handy in more than just automotive work.

I bought the craftsman version of this at Lowes on clearance for $75. Only difference between the dewalt and craftsman one is the craftsman one doesn’t have the ability to have one light the other running by itself, other than that it’s the exact same tool. It works great, I’ve been after one of these for a while. You can also use it across the headliner for interior work.
It is not as bright. 2 BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS: For extended runtime or greater brightness - 600 Lumens (low setting) and 1200 Lumens (high setting)
Looking at my next purchase.
I have a rooftop deck. A couple of them should light the area pretty nice in addition to using them for working on vehicles. I am going the replace my exhaust. These will light the area well under the truck.
I like that they made is 12v and 20v compatible

Question : are the batteries 18V suitable for the craftsman version , because all my tools are Dewalts but the dewalt version is very big of a difference from price to a craftsman version.

It’s not my favorite DeWALT tool but I can see how there are a few situations where I would use it. 🙂✌️❤️
How does thick soft rubber leave a scratch??? You using frosting as paint? And it’s not intended for a car only, that’s why it folds and the hooks rotate…shop light, house light, any light!
He is a neat freak that imagines things that will not happen. And they were confused about the reason for the folding ability even though they mentioned it can be used folded.
Everything about it is great, but still, endless negative views about it?
