    This is a very fascinating game, but it's a shame that the intricacies of shipping aren't explored more. For example you have a 6 week waiting period to schedule a trip through the Panama Canal. This kind of mechanic would be very cool to implement as you have negatives for picking up contracts on the open market, vs recurring contracts that offer better stable returns.

      @icthulu 6 месяцев назад +8

      @@slimyish If you say... run regular shipments of Del Monte fruit from Brazil to a grocery distributor in California you already have a load planned and destination planned well ahead of time following seasonal crops. Same for a different industry like cars that have a strict production schedule.
      Amazon would work slightly different, if I understand correctly, where they already have scheduled shipments based on demand curve prediction and your order is queued in the next available container.

      Ship Simulator is a thing.. though I don't think you can go anywhere in the world.

  • @VerilyVerbatim

    Why.... why is it not possible to have something like this, but starting in 1950? Whilst there are many options, your starting budget only allows to choose one small ship - cargo freighter or tanker - pick the country of choice (currency conversion rates are your problem, it adds to the challenge?). I haven't seen many shipping games on this scale... but the focus is always so limited on concepts of 'today'.

      Honestly, I've love a tramp ship simulator. You've got your one cargo ship or tanker and you go from port to port picking up stray cargo. Preferably you've have to navigate past storms or through them (wiegh the added time of going around versus the danger of going right thru it). The 50's or 30's would be reat starting points.

      1800's shipping would be cool, sloops, wind-jammers etc etc

    couldn't you earn even more?
    when you arrive at the port, you unload part of the cargo, and you have an empty part of the ship, you load something again (if it is available along the route of travel)
    theoretically, you leave the UK for Australia with $1 million in contract, and you end up in Australia with $10 million in profit
