Your videos really helped us a lot! We finally have the footers in and the foundation is about to be started on our West Point. I learned a ton from your videos, and changed several things in my design thanks to you. Much appreciated!!
We are building our halstead at the moment. Wish we had stairs like y’all’s with one flat landing in the middle but they couldn’t. They told us it wasn’t possible according to code. Showed them yours and other Halstead videos that have it like yours. They were confused and said they couldn’t because of code. 😒 I’m very jealous of something so small like yall stairs. lol
@nickdoguet9910 that's interesting! Sorry it didn't work out for you! I'm sure you'll still love the house when it's all finished! Good luck with the rest of your build! Thanks for watching!
I’m so happy for you and your wife! Your home is beautiful! I know that you guys have had a long build time, but you really designed a beautiful home. I really appreciate that you took us on the journey with you and your family and gave us a honest, real experience with building a Schumacher home! If you look at videos of people who built with Schumacher, you can definitely see that they were almost going with a script that Schumacher had prepared, well at least that’s how they came across too me. I really do thank you and your wife for showing us the true and uncensored experience. I’m really surprised that you guys had to outsource so many things!
Thanks again Sharon, we appreciate you following us and for all the kind words! Sorry for the delay in getting back to some of your comments. I totally agree with you though, we just wanted to tell the truth, the good, the bad, and the ugly haha. We had no idea what to expect when we started this process and sure have learned alot along the way. I know now things i would do differently and questions i would ask when interviewing builders. Thanks again for following us!
We started with Schumacher but never made it through the design process due to their Greensboro, NC team failing to meet absolutely any of our expectations and found an alternative builder
Great video, so glad you guys are almost in! It's interesting how you had many of the extra stuff done OUTSIDE of Schumacher (like the Pantry cabinets, fans, light fixtures, etc.). Once you're settle in a bit, I'd like to see a video on how that process works. For instance, do you tell Schumacher all the things you're going to do while they're working on your house? I suppose you schedule your own cabinet guys to just come in whenever you want to let them in? Or do you work all that out with Schumacher? How did you get the cabinets to match Schumacher's cabinets? Use their same guys, just hired them separately, etc.? Just not sure how working with other groups work at the same time as working with Schumacher. When selecting your light fixtures, do you just tell Schumacher "no thanks" and they deduct that price and you just have your own electrician come and put those in whenever? Would be an interesting video maybe. I'm sure everyone's experiences vary, but I'd like to hear what you found worked the best.
Hey Raymond, Thanks for the questions, I'll do my best to answer for you. Schumacher really doesn't allow you to do anything while their working on the house. They prefer you wait until your "closing day", after they're out and they have an occupancy permit. Im sure this is for liability reasons, etc. I did the cabinets myself but you could hire someone to come in after your build was complete. (Again, these are just my experiences amd each one of their offices/project managers may allow different things). I dont know either about going direct with their contractors for side work, we didnt do any of that so i cant speak to it. For the loght fixtures, Schumacher's included lights are actually really nice, we just chose to use our own. The way that works is when you meet with the electrician for your walk through, you let them know what lights you'll be bringing of your own and put them in the garage for example. The electrician will leave all the Schumacher included lights in the box in the garage and you can do whatever you want with them so that was pretty cool. It'd be great if Schumacher would credit you for the lights but they dont (at least not for us). I hope this helps!
Congrats 🎉🍾 to you and your family. God bless your new home. Also thank you for sharing with us a lot of info. Im currently considering to build with Schumacher in NC but I have not decided yet if I’m going to go with the Halsted or the Olivia floor plan. Did you guys ever consider building another floor plan and if so can you pls share why you decided to go with the halsted instead. Thank you!!!
This is beautiful. We are in the early stages with Schumacher and are working up plans with the Halsted. Question - do you find the kitchen, dining and great room area to be spacious as an open floor plan? We see pictures and videos and some of them make the space seem pretty small and some make the space seem pretty big. What are your guys' thoughts on the spaciousness of the first floor area there? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! That's a great question, we also thought it looked a little tight so we added the "media room" off our kitchen to put our dining room table. We then removed the "dining room" light which was next to the island. By doing that, we found that its plenty spacious for us. Its alot bigger in person also. We are very happy with the end result. Good luck with your build!!
Just coming across your video. I would like to chat with you more in depth about your build. We was about to build with Schumacher but somethings came up and I had to hold off for a bit. If I can email you I would like to go over some questions about everything for when we go back to the drawing board to discuss a few more things with Schumacher. When ypu get time. I know the holidays are coming up so I wish you and your family a merry Christmas.
@bettysmith4527 correct, they don't include the deck but the stairs they put in are actually really nice and they were included. Some other builders we saw don't even do that, they literally just put a fence outside the sliding door I think to meet code.

We have our intial appointment with Schumacher next week and I have watched your videos over and over. Thank you so much for sharing
@mom02cam thanks for watching abd good luck at your appointment next week! I hope everything goes great for you!!
Wow, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks Janet!
This is helpful as my husband and I are considering the Halstead

Congratulations! Beautiful home! We moved into our halstead December 2020 and I love it! It's really a great house.
Thanks Whitney!! Congratulations to you on your build as well! We are absolutely loving our Halsted as well!
What is the price of your home. Give us a range.
We started with Schumacher but never made it through the design process due to their Greensboro, NC team failing to meet absolutely any of our expectations and found an alternative builder
Sorry to hear that Mike and hopefully you found a good alternative builder.
Who did you end up going with? We're going to check out Schumacher this week.

@@brewsbuildahalsted1337 that does help, thanks! And the cabinets you guys added yourself look great too! The place is beautiful!

Is your grass and landscaping included ..Or some atleast?
@mariacolon7518 unfortunately with our build it was not included. I'm not sure how they're doing it now or if they're even offering it.

Pretty house, but they didn't even include a deck in the back... yikes!
