- The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery unveils its commissioned portraits of former President Barack Obama and Mrs. Michelle Obama by artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, respectively. Remarks by President Obama and Mrs. Obama, Smithsonian Secretary David Skorton, National Portrait Gallery Director Kim Sajet and artists Wiley and Sherald.
My heart breaks for those who are allowing their political misinformation to get in the way of enjoying these beautiful prices of art. Listing to both artists describe the depth of meaning in their pieces was a privagele. I'm thrilled for the future of portraiture following this magnificent and desperately needed departure from what this tradition had stagnated into.

What am I looking at ? I only seen her portrait so far and that looks nothing like her. It actually looks like a white woman. Not a good likeness. Get your money back from that artist ! I was never an Obama fan, but I have to admit, these artists that the Obama's chose put me into the shock to do their portraits. He deliberately chose an LBGT racist artist that uses sperm in his paintings. Who picks an artist that paints racist beheadings of a black woman decapitating a white woman? This will be another one of their legacies. Does this bother anyone else? I have said all along that he tried to divide us as people, and I think it is obvious where his heart is. I really hate racism in all forms, but for a president to chose an artist that paints black women beheading white women, if it were any other president and one of them chose an artist that painted a white woman beheading a black woman, people would become unglued. I am so sick of these double standards, and I hate racism.

I laughed quite a while upon these two unveilings. Michelle's portrait looks hardly anything like her. Great job Amy !! Barack's looks like him , but lacks stateliness. What , was he sitting on the toilet for a photo to ' go by ' ? I would expect that for a portrait of our former President , one would use a moment of distinquished looking stature.
