I love how well he is able to act heavy out in real life too, like his mannerisms fit the voice perfectly
I swear, hearing Heavy while watching a real Person speak feels so surreal, almost uncanny valley. You know its the voice actor, but it also is as if someone put the OG audio over an old man!
Just gets to show how GOOD he still is with this voice, nearly 15 years later
It's the same any time Mark Hamill voices the Joker irl, or that infamous scene from Jennifer's Body with the voice actor for Patrick. Surreal and then some.
It's kinda the same of seeing the original image of mat pat where the sort of cutout originally came from like I swear it has to have been edited but it's not
the WHAT valley
You know how some time, you know someone whos big and you dont see them for years and years and you finally catch up and theyre now old and grey and lost loads of weight?
It's like that.. the heavy has came out of retirement to relive his glory days from like 30 years ago
I said it to some friends a while back, but it doesn't feel like watching the voice actor for the heavy, it feels like watching a really good impersonator.
The characters are so iconic and recognisable that part of me almost can't accept them as fake?
For the love of god Valve, PLEASE notice the passion Gary, Shork, and the team put into this to make this happen. TF2 is truly alive and well.

he has a completely different facial structure from the heavy, and yet perfectly captures his character in his face, it's incredible how well he's kept up his acting over the span of 15 years

Exactly
I would argue the scout voice actor is a good contender
Gary is like the video game version of Peter Cullen (both are overall amazing actors and still love voicing their respective characters)
Imagine being shot at by some guy and each bullet just has "Gary" written on it XD

A lot of times when he does heavy, he sounds strained and unnatural, almost like it's hurting. But this time he's definitely prepared and up for it! He absolutely killed it, and im glad hes doing it!
This profession you use so much of your body. Getting older as a voice actor is almost like getting older as a tradesman, your body just gives out on you.
@@thewillthewayyeah I heard a clip of Mel Blanc doing Bugs Bunny in his later years (1987 or something) and while he still did a good job you could tell his age was showing in his voice. In the 1989 Batman Betamax, I think it was Mel who did the voice for that “Warner Bros. Ball cap commercial” and it sounded like a granddad doing a Bugs Bunny voice
A lot of the time when he does it it’s in improvised settings like a con or whatever which is why it sounds that way. Usually in those situation they’re tired and are already talking a lot so its only natural they sound not up to snuff.

Agreed
Whenever I see videos of Gary doing the voice, it's always Heavy's yelling voice.

Can I just say how absolutely amazing this is to see. In a community about a 15 year old game that's completely abandoned by its creators, we can have the real, actual voice actors getting together with fans and creators to make shit like this. The fact that the community is big and passionate enough to a point where we can get something like this to happen is what's so special to me. Bravo TF2, you truly are one of the most special games ever
Crazy how he can still pull this voice. Heavy sounds so gutteral you'd think he could lose his voice like the rock stars.
His voice is definitely much more aged and rougher, but it's still our dear Heavy in the flesh. Gary Schwartz is a legend amongst the fans for voicing a beloved gun toting mercenary.
Well, heavy was always a rough kinda guy so that works for me.
Its just how Heavy will sound when older
@@lknight8854heavy is already 50 years old
I honestly prefer this performance from Gary. It feels similarly nonchalant as in the original but his tone definitely better conveys what heavy has done in his life
The fact that he still nails the Heavy laugh 13 years later, is insane
they practice their lines a lot lol
Heavy voiced this guy very well
1:23 that sniper knows what he's doing
This man is the most wholesome man ever. ❤
Give hin bullets, not an Oscar
This video perfectly demonstrates that truly skilled voice actors have to get into character and be just as expressive as in any other acting medium. Well frickin done Gary, you deserve a sandvich.
thats one of the reasons TF2 lasted so long is every character feels very interesting not just as a game character but the actors themselves getting into it at well.
this happened with po from kun fu panda as well. jack black got really into the character voice acting him and thats one of the reasons why the movies were so sucessful and why a clumsy panda works so well as an actually compelling protaganist.
another instance is the vermintide games having really good voice acting with every character really feeling like an actual person with emotions even from just a few idle banter exchanges, exactly like how left 4 dead was.

@@Freegame4.Well, TF2 cosplay is relatively easy to create. Miss Pauling requires only dark-purple shirt, light-blouse and glasses.
I know there's very little chance of ShorK seeing this, but I'm so grateful for what he's doing. Losing Rick May was such a devastating blow to the entire TF2 community, and it made us realize how talented, funny, and all of the TF2 voice actors really are. By making all these videos about the voice actors and inviting them to do recreations like this, ShorK is enabling us to never, ever take these legends for granted.
Nathan Vetterlein, Rick May, Dennis Bateman, Gary Schwartz, Grant Goodeve, Robin Atkin Downes, John Patrick Lowrie, Jean-Benoît Blanc, Ashley Burch, and Ellen McLain: they've provided so much enjoyment, immersion, and comedy for one of the greatest games every made - and ShorK is blessing us beyond compare by showing us how special they all are.
