21 years ago I was diagnosed with the symptom of osteoporosis and an endochronologist put me on a drug to treat the symptom. After 3 1/2 years with no change in T score the Dr said my osteoporosis was "idopathatic" meaning he didn't have the foggiest idea. He then recommended I continue taking the drug that didn't work to treat the unknown cause. I then treated my self with D and calsium and gained bone density. Recently I added K-2 and magnesium just in case. So far my guess has been better than the Dr. It would be great if I could get medical advice to best treat the cause of my low bone density. No fractures or change in height over 21 years.

Right@ my aunt got it at 40 after stopping her periods at 35 ...nobody investigated why both these things happened. Doctors should have a dexa scan on their heads to see if it's solid chalk and bone up there! 😂
Thankyou for this interview. I recently had a REMS scan with Mr Birch in the UK and found out that I do not have osteoporosis after my DEXA scan showed I had severe osteoporosis in my spine and osteopenia in my hips. Feeling inspired and relieved.

Great to hear Dr Bush say that he doesn't recommend medication to all patients with osteoporosis depending on their height, weight and bone structure...
I so agree that the body adapts when we use it. The right type of exercise where we load bone and muscle is so important for increasing bone strength. I’m very excited to use the REMS technology with my OsteoStrong program! It will be so nice to measure bone strength.

my t score lumbar spine is -3.5 ... supposedly terrible. I refused meds AGAIN last may. (first told i needed meds 16 years ago). Last week I was bushwalking in a sandy area. I tripped going down a slope, did a complete somersault rolled to my feet and kept walking. NO INJURY. No sore spots, no bruises no pain NOTHING. DEXA scans tell you nothing about bone strength.
... Elsewhere in your testing results, you will find out your Z score. The Z score compares an individual to others their own age and sex - which makes it a much more realistic assessment of how your bones are faring in their lifelong journey. Where an active, healthy 80-year-old woman, compared to a 30-year-old, might have a T score of -2.0, when compared to other 80-year-old women, she could very well have a Z score of +1.0 or even +2.0!
Nice! I think the More you keep falling over the better. Kids fall over a lot and rarely get hurt and old people avoid it and then it happens its a huge shock. I think at least rolling around on the ground pretending to fall and even learning how to fall well like they teach you in the circus how to fall well and in martial arts cant be a bad thing. We will all fall at some point so we may as well do it well!
I am watching this on July 2, 2024 and note that it is over a year old. I will have a REMS test next Tuesday, the 9th and when I finally was signing up ...I got VERY NERVOUS SUDDENLY. I think I suddenly thought it might tell me that I have a high fragility rate; today is the last day I can cancel..and I am STRONG in my resolve to have this test. The endocrinologist I went to last August said that I had the "worst bones she had ever seen" and that I should start right away with a product (shot once a month for 12 months) that is the "only" one that could help me. Needless to say, I did not continue working with her and dove into exercise, particularly posture exercises and supplementing with plant-based calcium, Vitamin K, etc. I was focused on finding an alternative to the shots and pills! Thank you so much for this interview....I appreciate it.
Thank you so much for this and thank you Dr. Bush for this great information on the Echolight. I am in Canada and will probably go to the US to get this done.
I realize this is a yr old but I found it interesting what you said about Osteopenia because my DEXA November 2023 is now showing I have Osteopenia in both Left and Right Femor neck and more Importantly I was way better on my November 2021 DEXA before being on Anastrozole that I started June 2021 after 2.5 yrs on Tamoxifen because of my breast cancer dx 1-2-19. I am still on Anastrozole and WORRY about its effect on my bone density! I'm looking into this REMS Ecolight test in Palm Desert, CA in November after watching this video so I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

This seems to be a black art. I broke both hips at a young age (biking and roller blading). I have broken both big toes, a rib, and a collar bone. Everything healed up fine and I continue to be active at age 71, occasionally falling while biking, hiking and skiing. Despite a family history, low DXA scores (-3.0 hip, -2.5 spine) and very small bones, I will continue to be active and not worry about it. So the doctor calls the technology ultrasound and mentions sound waves but the acronym for REMS is Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectometry. I am confused as to whether this is really ultrasound or radiography.
It is truly an ultrasound! It is a radiation-free technology for assessing bone density and quality on the lumbar vertebrae and proximal femur through a revolutionary approach to characterise bone microarchitecture using radio frequency signals acquired during a simple ultrasound scan. Furthermore, the absence of radiation allows this method to be used on a heterogeneous variety of patients, including paediatric patients, patients at risk of secondary osteoporosis, diabetic patients, patients who have undergone cancer treatments and pregnant women.

So excited to see this video. Within a week I found one of only 2 machines in Australia, they squeezed me in and had my scan yesterday. Despite my numbers not being great my fragility scores were good! So likelihood of fracture way less terrifying that I was led to believe. Great people doing this work in OZ, I hope they roll it out all over the country.
Hi Dr Brown, I contacted the people who are importing the machine here. It's basically their head office but are being to scan people there. I have been following you for a long time. You're a light in a wasteland of medication!!! FYI I have a wholistic doctor (total brainiac DR Russell Cooper in Tasmania) who told me to eat 2 ruby grapefruit a week. He explained to me in very scientific terms that it contains an enzyme that inhibits bone turn over. Perhaps something to look into. 😊

How does the REMS Fragility Score compare to the DEXA Trabecular score, which also measures bone quality?
Hi Natalie,
The TBS does not provide a reading of the hip only the spine. The REMS will give you the hip and spine a provide a whole perspective of fragility reading.

So the doctor calls the technology ultrasound and mentions sound waves but the acronym for REMS is Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectometry. I am confused as to whether this is really ultrasound or radiography.
I agree with you, we need to have an answer by the experts to this thought!
It is truly an ultrasound!
It is a radiation-free technology for assessing bone density and quality on the lumbar vertebrae and proximal femur through a revolutionary approach to characterise bone microarchitecture using radio frequency signals acquired during a simple ultrasound scan.
Furthermore, the absence of radiation allows this method to be used on a heterogeneous variety of patients, including paediatric patients, patients at risk of secondary osteoporosis, diabetic patients, patients who have undergone cancer treatments and pregnant women.
bone quality is just as important as bone density
Agreed! Did you get a chance to watch the event?
Yes, it was interesting that there is research in improving bone health besides exercise and diet.
Through diet, exercise, nutritional supplementation, an Alkaline Diet, stress reduction, and most imporantly getting to the root of the cause of your bone loss... You CAN drastically improve your bone health. Hundreds of women have done it with us. Heres an invite to our free intro course: tribe.drsusanbrownphd.com/share/FdyZA2-eXSUP-SKd?
Where can I find Echolight / REMS availability in the US?
@lovesmario send us a message at helpdesk@alkalineforlife.com and we will send you a list of locations
What medication do you prescribe for people in the yellow and red swaths?
Here at The Center for Better Bones we do not prescribe medications of any sort. Though we DO have a full 6 Step Program to natural bone health. Heres an invite to our FREE intro course: tribe.drsusanbrownphd.com/share/FdyZA2-eXSUP-SKd?
Does anyone know if Echolight R.E.M.S. is FDA in Canada? How can we find this out?
E-mail is us at helpdesk@betterbones.com for a list of locations!
So excited to see this video. Within a week I found one of only 2 machines in Australia, they squeezed me in and had my scan yesterday.
Despite my numbers not being great my fragility scores were good! So likelihood of fracture way less terrifying that
I was led to believe. Great people doing this work in OZ, I hope they roll it out all over the country.
Hi Pauline! Did you go to the Australian Bone Clinic?
Hi Dr Brown, I contacted the people who are importing the machine here.
It's basically their head office but are being to scan people there.
I have been following you for a long time.
You're a light in a wasteland of medication!!!
FYI I have a wholistic doctor (total brainiac DR Russell Cooper in Tasmania) who told me to eat 2 ruby grapefruit a week.
He explained to me in very scientific terms that it contains an enzyme that inhibits bone turn over. Perhaps something to look into. 😊
Where in Australia?
@@annetcell-ly4571 there are several clinics in Melbourne….you can find them on line

@@DrSusanBrown thanks for all the information! Unfortunately, for me the issue is aromatase inhibitors. I am a breast cancer survivor and have to be on pills for 5 years. I did the CTX test prior to taking them and then 1 year 4 months and my Serum CTX on Dec 13, 2022 was 0.524 ng/mL then one year 4 months on Apr 15, 2024 was 0.837 ng/mL. The range is not in the flagged numbers; but the change is 60% and I still have 4 years of pills to go.
I’m 62, 5’4” and 140 pounds so had this t st done because of the Dexa Score in Sept 2022 saying I had osteoporosis. My Lumbar Spine from L1 to L4 BMD is 0.731 g/cm2 T-score -2.9
Left Proximal Femur in the neck the BMD is 0.558 g/cm2 T-score -2.6 in the total hip the BMD is 0.721 g/cm2 and the T-score is -1.8
Diagnostics Osteoporosis

I live in nyc too did you go to Wayne nj x body? I don’t want to take drugs for osteo I’m active and have been hit by a car. If my bone density is so bad I should have broke more than my ankle which took the impact of the hit. I was thrown into the air and landed on the ground
