Clinton Herndon Well, taste in music doesn't have too much to do with a person's personality, but it just feel weird to imagine Gray and Myke listen to this, not to insult the album. Though Grey did say he use this only functionally and doesn't find it good or bad.
I swear , girl talk is a reward for having an eclectic taste in music . Born in ‘87. Listened to grunge in grade school. Hip hop and rap in middle school. Emo and metal In high school, rap mix tapes and classic rock in my 20’s. Jazz and old school hip hop and electronic music in my 30’s and all everywhere in between at some point . When I listen to nightripper or all day I know every song sampled and that’s what makes it so rewarding
For this tour, me and my now-partner danced on stage for the entire show and as two people in our mid-30s at the time, the next day was torture, but absolutely worth it when I listen to this album whatta time.
This is possibly a magnum opus - the more I try to recreate what he did the more I realize how impressive this album is i.e finding clean acapellas, picking classic or noteable samples, and mastering it perfectly. I tried to do what he did. I listened to tons of artists inspired by him. It’s so difficult. A monumental investment of time is required to find mashups that don’t just match BPM’s and key (that is easy and DJ’s pretend it’s not). It’s a balancing act - between recognizing iconic (but not overused) samples that fit just enough. It has to be obvious it IS a mashup. If they are too similar, casual listeners might mistake it as a normal song. Gillis is my idol, and my life dream is a new album from him. Even a CDQ rip of his live shows as of late. Oh yeah, it's incredible
I wish people would stop pointing out moments in this that, according to them are the best, because is not one single weak moment during the entire 1:11:08 I often travel long distances and nothing beats setting off with this playing.
Took me forever to find this cause i couldn’t remember who made it. Typed best dj known for mashing songs on google and Girl Talk was the first one to pop up. Hell yea 💯
Lol I did the same thing
Hahaha that's cool
his creativity is mind blowing.
Uhhhh…. You ever heard of Krafty kuts?
I thought that too until i learned he made an algorithm/program to match the beats.
@@emmanoble5498 There's a LOT more than just beat matching going on here.
@@fuzzzone he developed an algorithm to match the beats.
@@emmanoble5498 My point was that beat matching is the least of the creative elements going on here. Lots of modern mixers have built in beat matching functions.
5:36 to 7:03 Is where it's at, in case you were looking.
TY one of my faves ❤
The entire windowlicker section is so fucking amazing
33:54 is what keeps me coming back.
+Jake James it's my happy place
First time I heard this the beat is from Television Rules the Nation by Daft Punk. Awesom
Drops Night Ripper, Feed The Animals and this masterpiece and fucks off to be a scientist likely. Goddam legend
1000% legend.
This is the anthem I lost ~100lbs to
Skinny legend
My only wish for 2022 it's a New Album like this
That would really be amazing
This is my work album. Im a CGI artist, and when a shot needs getting done, this on repeat ALL DAY....see what I did there?
Well played sir.
Sweet sweet honey in my damn ear. This is quite easily the juiciest damn music I've heard in 4eva. Thug it up man!
Seriously, I groove to this while hammering it out on a keyboard 40 hours a week.
This brings me back to high school when I listened to this shit all the time. I have no fucking idea who Grey is.
Mans need to come save us from this pandemic and drop another mixtape 🔥
Girl Talk, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., & Smoke DZA Announce New Collab Album ... April 8
mixing ODB's baby i like it raw with radiohead's creep was perfection.
ill always love the black and yellow to paint it black
I listen to any of the GirlTalk mixes, and my brain comes alive-56-year-old beat junkie
There are times in my life when I don't know whether to laugh or cry. In those times I put on Girl Talk and wait for my brain to force my head to do both.
Brilliant
This was insane when I first heard it in college a decade later this shit still go hard.
one of the best ever!!! girl talk and dj tomcat were the reason i started making mashups and mixes!
16:15 party in the usa and hardcore rap. perfect match
Man this came out when I was 20 and in my absolute prime. Such fond memories at Girltalk shows. They were a party in a different kind of way.
Wait, this isn't Cortex...
Saw Girl Talk with Luda and it was one of the greatest moments of my life. At work, when it's "go time", I put on my cans and work fast to this. Memorized by now.
This comment will probably get taken down, but GT mashups are like doing drugs without doing drugs. So really, this is the anti-drug. I’m only half joking, but I bet scientific evidence could support that with it stimulating different parts of the brain, etc. Either way, Gregg Gillis is genius
Best drugs I ever ate were at girl talk shows
This music reminds me of the good ol' days of youtube, before all the copyright crap. So many good mashups, all gone now.
this album still goes SO HARD
I really wished GT would drop another album. best mash ups period .
Mikey James I know.. I got a chance to see them live last night, best time of my life!
Spencer Humphrey glad you had fun man
Maybe I'm greedy but damn I've wanted this guy to drop a new album since 2011. now I'm thinking it just won't happen but I hope it does
My cheeks hurt from smiling
what I would give for another album of this
Long live us all ❤
Checking in here after his Asheville show in April, which had been postponed for two years. Absolutely legendary performance. My boy got up there and THREW DOWN for almost two hours. It was incredible. And this album is equally incredible. Legendary status.
So jealous, that would be such a good concert!
Jelly too. Sounds fun.
