    Filbert is amazing! So strong. Loved watching him gnaw on that branch. Could hardly believe he got that big branch back to his lodge.

    She's so beautiful! 💖 Amazing how she moved the log to the shore like it was nothing. Not to mention how quickly she got it down to size. Who ever said measure twice - cut once definitely wasn't talking to a beaver!!! 😄

      Oh believe me this is just the tip of the iceberg.
      They can rebuild a dam so fast that if you take one down you really have to stick around and watch the water drain out to make sure that they cannot simply rebuild it before most of the water is gone.

    Rolling the log to attack it from different angles was very clever.

      It's exactly how people work with a chainsaw on wood when they don't want to go right through it and foul the machinery, or when the 'blade' isn't long enough to easily work on a thick log.

    OMG!!!! Much, much respect! It took me hours with an electric saw to cut through a tree in my yard. The cut wasn't straight, nor pretty. Not the case for Filbert. Put me and electric tools to bad shame! Never seen the process live, nor thought about how much trees weigh. Amazing creatures and so vital for life on earth. I'm wondering why they haven't been deployed in the rescue of the Colorado river. Nature's answer to water sources drying up is to " let beavers be beavers".

    They build their homes out of their own food strong enough to hold up lakes and withstand bears trying to rip them apart. They are perfect animals.

    FYI: Their teeth are red because they are iron enriched for extra strength. They are also self-sharpening chisels, unlike human teeth, optimized for daily wood cutting.

      Beavers are rodents, so their front teeth grow continuously. They stay hard because they're much younger than the beaver.

    I read somewhere that the teeth are brown due to having a very high iron content to help with the job in hand. Sounds plausible.

    бобры конечно не редко конкурируют с хозяйственными интересами людей. но они древняя и важная часть экосистемы и человек обязан считаться с их присутствием и деятельностью.
