Wow. As it should be! The rest of us blokes out here are improvising and thinking through every detail and are keen on seeing how someone else solved the questions. So yeah we want to know more of what and how. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to do a new video because it has had the last of its improvements now. Rear end and a few little tweaks. Pus one on my troopy. Just got a turbo fitted to the 2H
This what I'm impressed about it and why I want one. The engine bay is so big, it could fit anything. The reason why some had a 4.0 Inline 6 Diesel as an option
A cool Tojo and a great choice with the 1uz-fe... The best little V8 in the world. It's like any other V8 but built much, much better. 1uz's for everyone!
G'day my thought for a 40 series is to have one cut down the middle and widened? then grafted onto a Hummer, Chev, Ford truck running gear, or fabricated custom chassie? maybe lengthened also for a 6x6 conversion, portal axles just some of my idea's
Deliberately went for the fat stocky look with wheel spacers and 15.5 wide rubber. Touch wood haven't had any issues with police. They see it more as a toy. I have just done New head lights, front and rear bars. Will post new vid
This is probably best restored customs of its kind, I have the same project in my mind, but I am going to make it 6×6 , FJ45. I am also concerned about the gravity and chassis, Do you have any advice please. ...
I have had two FJ40s and one of the big attractions was that low end crawl and that long stroke six cylinder! It would be interesting to know how that compares off road to the original in a crawl by crawl comparison. Which would stall first?
I see. What about the handling diff? You lost a significant amount of weight up front with that six yanked. How did that effect it in mud and snow and the slick stuff?
Nice engine but I would of done everything I could to make it stick. Sorry its nice though very good looking FJ and I salute you for choosing a V8 Toyota and not some Chevy engine.
I'm in the process of putting an 1UZ, a340 (original automatic with the 1uz) and HF2A transfer case. Did you use the original transfer case? I'm having problems with rear driveshaft length and have to shift the motor forwards, away from the firewall. How long is your rear driveshaft?
@@superchargedFJ40 Hi, Thanks for the reply. Nice ride you got there. After I started fabricating the adapter plate I bought another transfer case that fitted the automatic gearbox. Did you have to move the transfer case rearwards and shorten your rear driveshaft (if so, how long)? Is your engine close to the firewall, or shifted a bit forwards?
Got the grill made in the US. LA I think. did it over the net. The suspension, steering components, wheel barrings ect was replaced entirely with new stock parts. But the Shocks upgraded It makes the truck very drivable and keps centre of gravity low as its an on rd only truck
Hey Mate, I had an engineering shop make up an Adaptor Plate. It was very tricky as the oil was leaking out until it was perfected. The oil in the gearbox feeds the TC.
Max Evans yeah buddy. I think they don't make these tyres anymore but they are Mickey Thompson MTZ, 36x15.5 . that's why they look cool, fat 15.5 inches! stereo also isn't made anymore. Kenwood
Very nice mod, however for my taste I find the tires excesively big regarding the car body dimensions. I mean everything is perfect for the card except the size of the tires. You lost the relation among car body and the tires. Just another opinion. Great job
Reckon a 1uzfe vvti would sound as good?? Looking at getting an 98> ls400 chopped and shipped over here. Anybody know which transfer box mates to the standard A650e gearbox?? Thanks in advance chaps :D
dude that's awesome!!! Can you please tell me the lift kit you used!?? I'm new to 4x4 but I drove from Manchester, UK to dhaka Bangladesh in my mkIII 3.5 gdi pajero! Just me and my dog mate, 14 countries 26,000km! found one of these fj40s rotting to death at a government building in Dhaka, said I can buy it for £400 :) need all the info I can get to resurrect the old bird!
hi mate, yes it is 4x4. i have air lockers fitted. used the original transfer case but had an engineering shop make up an adapter late for me to connect it to the Auto box.
i put a stronger custom tail shaft in it. Diff is stock and i upgraded the axel studs to the bigger 10mm i think. 2 mm bigger then the stock ones. thats it
yeah man, i do trips all the time, has a rear locker so you only need 2WD and it out does all touring 4x4 with its fat rubber. Only thing with North is the heat and it has no AC, thats the only draw back for a trip in the cape
Like the proportion, height, tire size & all & of course the new engine & the way it shoots off. Well done...
Jonathan Ward of Icon takes the wrong path installing GM LS engines. Glad to see this gentleman stayed true to Toyota.
I tend to agree but I get why he goes LS here in the US. They are more plentiful, cheaper, and can be picked up new rather than reman.
@@ajfarson wow, LS is cheaper than 1UZ in USA?? Here LS1 is around 13.000 USD and 1UZ is only
to call this beautiful is an understatement. stunning work my friend! absolutely stunning!

This is one very nice 40 series build up, well done!
Nice. I rebuilt, restored a bj40 8 yrs ago and put a 2f engine in. Bare metal and lots of welding. But came out beautiful.
The modified car with max budget...
Very nice.
that sound.....outstanding..... like a lion's roar....well done....
its a dream car , man , very ,very nice

you know it bro
Looks awesome thats what the latest model should have been like but manual trans and i like the original grill etc over the custom one
Lord how I miss my 76' CJ-40, 350CI >< 355 HP, stolen in 1980. That is a sweet tojo you have there
thank u

Absolutely beautiful, good job.
I have a Toyota land cruiser totally renewed from the year 1982.
it was all cool and amazing and then you showed the autogearbox me personal i like manual gearbox
This car is sick! Love it
Mate that is a beauty! Well done !

I have had two FJ40s and one of the big attractions was that low end crawl and that long stroke six cylinder! It would be interesting to know how that compares off road to the original in a crawl by crawl comparison. Which would stall first?
V8 is torquey, but yes the bigger tyres are taller in gearing, but V8 grunt makes up for it.
I see. What about the handling diff? You lost a significant amount of weight up front with that six yanked. How did that effect it in mud and snow and the slick stuff?
it's been upgraded a lot more now. gearbox is Toyota 4 speed auto
Which exact one?
What gearbox did you use there? And what mods did you have to do to get the four wheel drive working?
a credit to you chief keeping it real!
Too BEAUTIFUL.
Nice engine but I would of done everything I could to make it stick. Sorry its nice though very good looking FJ and I salute you for choosing a V8 Toyota and not some Chevy engine.
Hey man, that looks awesome! Where do you get that grill? How can I get that? Please upload more video of that fj40.thanks!
That orange diesel f40 is sharp, do u still have it for sale
does the ride height switch work, if so thats the coolest thing ever, if not still the coolest thing ever.
it does notes. rear air suspension for towing!
*now
I have Toyota Land Cruiser 1983 model from Pakistan petrol engine 5vz gear pardoo good drive
Awesome vehicle! What power steering and radiator have you used?
the FJ had Factory power steering in 1984. The radiator was form the Lexus with the 1UZFE. I have a 1976 FJ40 and I used 75 series power steering
damn!. that engine sound
The secret to any good exhaust is having the mufflers at the rear
And not going to big on the plumbing. 2 inch to 2.5 is better. This is 2.5
What a beauty ❤️
Damn!I wish I knew how to do that!Awesome!
Cool, but don’t mess with the Yota grill.
I'm in the process of putting an 1UZ, a340 (original automatic with the 1uz) and HF2A transfer case.
Did you use the original transfer case?
I'm having problems with rear driveshaft length and have to shift the motor forwards, away from the firewall. How long is your rear driveshaft?
i did use the original. we had to get some sort of plate engineered. it was the hardest art of the conversion. took several attempts before it worked
@@superchargedFJ40 Hi, Thanks for the reply. Nice ride you got there.

Did you have to move the transfer case rearwards and shorten your rear driveshaft (if so, how long)?
Is your engine close to the firewall, or shifted a bit forwards?
what have you done with the Suspension ? and what are the seats out of ? cheers

Bro this the Fj I want, awesome work, no words for your choice
Beautiful FJ40. What front seats do you have in her? They look awesome.
I got them from the US. suit it with the low profile
have to get a custom adapter plate made by an engineer then it will fit any transfer Case
In & Around Your Mouth its fucken australia thats why
What size is the wheel and tires please I ❤it
Hey buddy, rims are 15x10 and the tyres are very rare 36x15.5 super fat, I don't think they make them anymore
Hey man do you know any engineers near Sydney I have a 1992 4runner that had a 1uz in it needs a cert though thanks
What did you do to mateup the auto to the transfer case
Hey Mate, I had an engineering shop make up an Adaptor Plate. It was very tricky as the oil was leaking out until it was perfected. The oil in the gearbox feeds the TC.
That's sick bro
Jģ
nice, very modern
what trans did you use?
great job, but will you offroad this now ?
Brother which gear have you mated with the 1UZ would be really nice if you reply
The auto box that came with the 1uzfe. I had some adapter plates a and mounts engineered up to for the motor and box.
Those seats tho... Where did get them from?
America
spring loaded for comfort
great job mate....
Hey mate would you be able to tell me what rims and tires those are, also what is that radio.
Max Evans yeah buddy. I think they don't make these tyres anymore but they are Mickey Thompson MTZ, 36x15.5 . that's why they look cool, fat 15.5 inches! stereo also isn't made anymore. Kenwood
Max Evans rims are 15x12, can't remember the brand. allied maybe
Is there a link to your build sheet?
I love to have it it's my passion

Hassan Uddin that's the way to go. get the vvti! more power. and a custom exhaust for the note
Had one of these rusted away and stuffed my back
Did u get that automatic transmission or did u change it to automatic
it was changed mate
Automatic? Really? Is there an advantage or coolness factor to having automatic as opposed to manual?
Automatic gearbox is a mortal sin
no it's modernised
with a v8 engine this automatic gear is a bliss
Diederik Zwager .......the auto is a huge plus with the modern engine. You my friend happen to be all wrong
Diederik Zwager bv.hķbvgcvcvvbvbbv
That is such a noob comment. Go home kid.
Modified with Parado engine and suspension no leaf spring

Hassan Uddin actually no lift kit at all. cut the guards :) keeping the centre of gravity Lower is the way to go. it handles very well
Hassan Uddin the secret is just getting all new bushes and joints for the factory componants
Best Fj40 built
what transfer case set up are you running off the stock 1uz trans?
ulises ramirez the original, but with a custom made adaptor plate to the new auto gear box
Any link to the adapter plate mod? Would be quite useful, I'm doing same conversion on my Fj40.
Have you kept it 4x4? What did you do for a transfer case?
hi mate, yes it is 4x4. i have air lockers fitted. used the original transfer case but had an engineering shop make up an adapter late for me to connect it to the Auto box.
I like it, but the tires just look too wide for my taste.
what transmission and transfer case u use in this car?
The Toyota 4 speed auto and the original transfer case with a custom adaptor plate
Beautiful ❤
Hey im looking at swapping a 1uz with a manual box into a FJ45, is it hard to do or is it pretty straight forward
need an adaptor engineered. depends on box
TAKE THAT CHEVY 350 SWAPPERS!
Around how much did it cost with all the ipgrades
Bob Joeison mate ... $60k.. it's my baby
In & Around Your Mouth posted that 8 months ago oh my
Man that is well done did u want to swap for my jimmy haha.
Have you have to change any of the driveline or diffs to handle the power?
i put a stronger custom tail shaft in it. Diff is stock and i upgraded the axel studs to the bigger 10mm i think. 2 mm bigger then the stock ones. thats it
ok thanks
is it loud in the interior and does it get hot? Or do you just get used to the sound?
ok nice. Would you do a trip to the cape in it? or would you do any big trip in it or not?
yeah man, i do trips all the time, has a rear locker so you only need 2WD and it out does all touring 4x4 with its fat rubber. Only thing with North is the heat and it has no AC, thats the only draw back for a trip in the cape
Would be awesome if she rode like a lexus too lol hate how everyone just pops in a LS or something and calls it a day this is real automotive work
William Su a lot of extra work for the quality.. haha and cost, but worth it
What a beast
you need to sell these in Ghana and people will rush for it
how much did this all cost just asking
Blake Bias $65K
what wheel arches is that?
Enrique Wellmann
🔍🧐
Were the axles modified ?
Casey Bergman yes I drilled out the small axel studs and fitter 2mm bigger ones
ohhhh muma thats a sweet rig
What radiator is that?
I used the radiator that came out of the Lexus with the 1UZFE
nice ride
what auto box do you use?
the only auto box that came with the 1UZ. Its pretty expensive to convert to a manual.
Nate Spring do you use the same transferbox? somthing you needed to change? it ws a 4l 6 cilinder or diesel BJ40?
FamousByFamily a petrol. engineered an adaptor plate for the box and TC. wasn't easy, has to share oil with even flow both ways
What's the engine model and number please?
1UZFE
Well Done!
what gbox are u running ? 4wd usable ?
Aaron Chen the Lexus auto with the 1UZ. I got a half cut car
