One thing that's become clear, that I've yet to mention: Your mama raised you right! You've got stellar taste, and are willing to truly listen to older music, and that doesn't come from nowhere. Good job, mama!
Part of the "deeper meaning" of many of his songs is the fact that his gayness was not social acceptable, and that he felt pressured to keep a huge part of himself hidden. There's a wonderful exploration of Bohemian Rhapsody by Noah at Polyphonic, if you haven't seen it. ruclips.net/video/DNwOzN-CIsw/видео.html My brother lived this sort of half-life in the 70s, so I really identify with the struggle.
I absolutely want to do a Bohemian Rhapsody reaction video, but I want to do it justice. I almost feel as though it can't be a "true" reaction because there's so much I want to say about it that I'll probably have to write most of it down. What a lot of videos fail to miss is the messages in the song. It's not simply about killing a man with a gun as the literal interpretation would suggest. Of course YOU know that, now my fingers are just typing away because I'm very passionate about Freddie and his life :) I will definitely watch the video and get someone else's take on the song, and hopefully be able to share my take on the song soon.
@@generationgapreacts Looking forward to it. I feel your passion, and it's terrific! Keep up the good work, and let your passion show. It'll do justice to whichever songs you choose.
I'm 63 and saw many amazing bands, including The Beatles! But I saw Queen in 1977 and every US tour after that! More Queen PLEASE How about White Queen from 1974!
I once went to a Queen Concert at University of Dayton arena in Two leg cast, from my toes all way to the Hips, it was their News of the World tour. Buddy of mine got me in early so I wouldn't get crushed. Great Show, Worth the Hassle.🤠
Love Queen. When I think of the greatest lead singers of any rock band, Freddie Mercury is one of the first names that come to mind. He was incredible.
What a lot of people don't seem to notice is that in the chorus, the first and third time he says "Make a supersonic man out of you" and the second time he says "Make a supersonic woman of you".
This is my favorite Queen song. With all their theatrical songs, this is the one song that jumps out as almost the centerpiece for a Broadway show called "Don't Stop Me Now...". LOVE that quality in this song, it's such a rare thing to experience in pop/rock. The energy they throw into this absolutely makes it what it is.
Freshman in HS when "Another One Bites the Dust" hit the world HARD! Bought the album and I was an instant Queen fan. "Dragon Attack" was my fave song on the album at the time. Now, it's the entire album.
This is one big rabbit hole to go down, there are so many great songs to react to over the coming weeks and months, saw them live at Knebworth in 1986 and to this day it is the best concert i have ever attended
Queen's output has been varied and amazing over the years, and this track is right up there with the best - full of energy. Fun fact - Brian May and his wife Anita recently moved into the small Surrey village where I live so we're almost neighbours....even if his house is about 50 times bigger than mine 🤣🤣😄😄
I had Not a problem with Sex Or Drugs, can't have a problem with something you don't have, Velocity was my drug, and this song describes my one time out look on life. P,S.- I had every Queen album including their rare first, up till the game.🤠
Have you heard "Las palabras de amor"? Another one that is not heard very often, but I love it. Queen music sounds as fresh and relevant today as it did all those years ago.
Baby Gap, if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend seeing the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Rami Malek does a phenomenal job playing the role of Freddie. The Live Aid scene will get your adrenaline pumping! They have so many great songs, but my favorite by far is Radio Gaga. The story telling of the song plus the crowd interaction is an experience in and of itself!
you really should react to 'I want to break free' by Queen, not just the song but the video, the intention was a pastiche of the Worlds longest running TV soap a British show called Coronation Street running since the 60s but it almost got them banned from the US watch and you'll find out why
I have on a journey backwards looking at your reactions and the most pressing thing on my mind is not how but when I can marry this young lady since she seems to be the most kind and wonderful and pleasant cute thing to spend time with
i don,t know if your aware but Queen,s done the soundtracks to the movie Flash Gordon and the Highlander movies and tv series which is where their songs who wants to live forever and the show must go on come from
A great song for the "Shazam" soundtrack--while young Billy's testing his newfound super powers (And taking some lumps figuring it out on camera) they got this coll-azz Queen tune going. Good choice, ladies!!
Brian makes up stories as he goes along! this was 1978, he had been with Mary for years they stayed friends but he left her for David Minns, they were together for 3 years and lived together their relationship was ending, David said they barely had any time together because of the band and touring. he left David for Joe Fanelli who he was with when he wrote this song Joe couldn't cope with not being able to be open about their relationship they became friends again in 80s, he was his live in chef and did the tours with him Brian said at the time he didn't like the song but didn't explain, after his death he said he had a go at Freddie because his songs were on the gay side he thought this song was separatism which he was still saying in 2011 in days of our lives documentary after that he started claiming he didn't like it out of concern maybe he thought people wouldn't like him saying he didn't like it having gay overtones and being separatism there was no reason to be concerned about Freddie at this time promiscuous
There's a cool joke that goes like this: Musicians: Come on, it's not rocket science! Engineers: Come on, it's not music theory! Brian May: Allow me to explain... The explanation: Brian May, the freaking guitar god from Queen is also an astrophysicist...
Was looking to see if you ladies have done Bohemian Rhapsody? Kind of a long one but sort of Freddy’s Magnum Opus, usually one of the top ten greatest rock songs on most lists.
Also Phil Collins "In The air tonight" live performance is fabulous too especially now when Phil Collins can't perform gigs anymore due to illness sadly😔
one of Freddies only no 9 uk and the US hated it! now it has over 1.5b downloads second to Bo Rap their most requested song second most popular over all used in alot of adverts , film and series usually fight scenes!
I'd love to hear you ladies react to some of Queens tracks that don't usually get played on this type of channel but are equally as good, (sadly its' mostly the hits we all know). Some examples are ; 'Teo Torriatte(let us cling together) 'Flick of the Wrist' 'Doing Alright' '39' 'Spread Your Wings' I hope you can find the time to listen to these even if you don't do a video.
Hey Honey, Regarding “Bohemian Rhapsody”…. Since - as you say, you’ve obviously heard it (LOTS) and I suppose seen the MV (maybe lots?) - maybe another option to “change things up” w/b to react to a live performance? (I actually almost ALWAYS watch “BoRhap” live - even tho it means missing out on Freddie’s beginning acapella harmonies - because for me…. NOTHING is better than Fred’s passion singing live.) Anyway, just a thought! (Two of the best live versions are: At Montreal in 1981 and: At WEMBLEY Stadium on FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986 (Freddie’s voice was in rougher shape on this song, during the second Wembley performance on Saturday, July 12) ….There’s also a FANTASTIC live performance from one of the 70s concerts - Freddie’s young vibrato is UNBELIEVABLE - but I can’t remember which show!)💕 P.S. You two remind me very much of myself and my Mom.💕
if you listen to the lyrics of his songs with the benefit of hindsight about his sexuality and the times he grew up in and was performing they all make so much sense bohemian rhapsody( about killing the man everyone wanted him to) , i want to break free( just very much about wanting to express himself the way he wants) somebody to love ( he was apparently pretty promiscuous and was just lonely )
Although Freddie, as vocalist, sang "I want to break free" it was written by bassist John Deacon and had nothing to do with Freddie's lifestyle. Sometimes people read too much into lyrics - Freddie did not write everything that the band produced.
Love this song and your reaction, ladies .. I heard guitarist Brian May talking about how this song makes him kind of sad in a way .. It was because Freddie wrote the lyrics about his belief in living life 100% to the fullest and throwing caution to the wind in the process .. Unfortunately, that meant he took a lot of risks in his sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle, including the various liaisons he made .. It lead to his early death, and so although it's a raging great party song, it does have a sad side to it.
Exactly. Freddie had a way of writing sad songs but putting it to a fun beat. Loved that about him. Its no wonder his bandmates were very worried about him.
Your reactions make me appreciate that I grew up through the 70s, 80s etc. Please give a listen to Genesis "throwing it all away" and "follow you, follow me".
What do you mean him? Freddie wasn't Queen. When they were a current band no one ever singled him out from the other members. All the band changed over the years.
A genius he is. I just love his voice/his lyrics. You can tell that he writes his songs from the heart. This is just one of many favorite songs from them. May I suggest Under Pressure Live at Wembleyruclips.net/video/OVzvoPP6M50/видео.html ? ? In this particular one, the way he interacts with the audience is awesome. Also songs Somebody to Love, Another One Bites The Dust. The live versions preferably. Thanks for the great reaction.
I was a huge Queen fan in my Junior High and High School years. I loved their first five albums, but when 'News Of The World' came out in late 1977, it was a huge disappointment for me. Everything from the album cover art, the band cutting their hair short (except Brian May), to the abandonment of the operatic vocals. The next year 'Jazz' comes out, and Queen totally redeem themselves with me. 'Jazz' is such a great album with 'Don't Stop Me Now' being one of the several highlights of the album. I really enjoyed your video.
