      Andrew Neeme Hi Andrew just a quick question with the straight flush hand. Can we ever raise on pre river or is it just unbalanced as do we ever bluff vs sb player given the dynamic? Also keep up the good work!

    • @woswasdenni1914
      @woswasdenni1914 7 лет назад

      @ah17293 i know you asked mr neeme but let me answer this. well on the flop things become complicated with the checkraise. if the SB leads out and you have a caller in between its actually pretty good option to raise all your nutflush, some of your combos and a high flush draws.
      the later may even work as a stop min reraise. however the checkraise makes stop raises impossible so your range to raise is much tighter.
      so in this situation its better on the flop to just call to keep ranges wide.
      on the turn however i would even see here a good point of raising.
      thing is in a 3 way pot with 3 clubs the river will almost always kill the action for at least one of your oponents. this was a very special outcome with that massive fish, but normaly you wont get any morey from 2 pair anymore, you usually have one player with either a lower flush (which can easy fold on a 4th club) and or one with a flush draw that either hits or folds.
      lets think of all hand combos (i list a hand each oponent)
      flush / flush
      flush/flushdrw
      straight/flush
      set or 2pair /flush
      set or 2 pair /flushdrw
      set or 2pair / set or 2pair
      straight/straight maybe option for a flush
      -
      now except the set /set situation you will always loose either the draw or the made hand (except superfish ofc but here it aint matter)
      in either case if another club comes or not.
      sets on the other hand are likely to call a small raise on the turn almost always, will most of the time fold the river anyway and will always pay you off if the board pairs.
      so yes best would have been a small raise on the turn in that situation. king high might fold here (as he did on the river) but maybe not. its easier to fold it on the paired board. but in most constealltion this is a much better play since you normaly wont get a bet / call action in that constellation that often. that requires a special kind of fish.
      most rivers at that board would be check / check / bet / fold / call or fold. sometimes check bet raise fold /fold or call.
      as for balance i aint see much of a problem here. with the weakness smaller betsizing form SB a raise with s a straight (amybe with a draw), smaller flushes and the nut flush draw is not unusual.
      in contrary, andrew actually narrowed his range to either strght flush/fullhouse or nutflush.
      3 times just call then raise showed much more strengh than lets say a raise on the turn.
      no small flush or straight would now raise the river that could raise the turn

    actually another question for you Andrew.. A few friends and I were discussing how the vegas games are different esp in the 5/10 and above. So generally tighter and certainly more aggro pre.. So I am not sure I adjusted well to it during the WSOP as I was 3 bet alot from blinds and these guys couldnt possibly be only doing this with say QQ+ and AK.. So do you pick on some of these guys and 4 bet bluff them with say a middle suited connector or Ax suited to balance our your value 4 bets so they might 3 bet you less? If and this is a big if I play 5/10 again in vegas I feel I would need to 4! more to stop these guys from constantly 3betting me..

    • @AndrewNeeme
      @AndrewNeeme  7 лет назад

      Yeah that's the biggest adjustment when moving into the Vegas 5/10 games. You're on the right path: I like the small and medium suited aces to put into your 4b bluff range, having the A blocker. The suited connectors aren't quite as good candidates since they don't block any good hands. I really recommend the Upswing stuff (link in description!👆🏼) which goes into this a lot. Or just never play in Vegas. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • @gerhardgammla3460
    @gerhardgammla3460 7 лет назад +1

    Hey guys, I have a question and please consider that I am a very unexperienced player.
    I need some help for a situation, in which I find myself sometimes:
    I open up AKo from UTG to 4.5 BBs. A pretty active player on my direct left calls with a very wide range and the others fold.
    I totally miss the flop. Continutation bet to grow the pot even more although I expect my opponent to call? And if I don't improve on the turn, shall I put out a bet again?

    • @AndrewNeeme
      @AndrewNeeme  7 лет назад

      I like check-calling at least one street here vs an active player. AK has some showdown value to it and you don't necessarily need to turn it into a bluff. You'll have to decide on later streets whether to continue calling if you don't make a pair and I prefer the less connected board to continue with it.

    Awesome Andrew flopping a straight flush!! I had that happen to me in a tournament at Turning Stone holding 109 of Diamonds with 5 people limping in, I was in the small blind. Flop is J78 of Diamonds, I check two people go all in after which was MUSIC to my ears!!! lol Went on to final table that tournament for a nice cash!!! It's ok to be annoyed and feel that FOMO. It's not ok to have it change how you play the next hand. Focus on hand strength/position/bet sizing etc--all the usual factors in decision making--rather than what happened in the last couple of hands.

    It's funny because here in the UK we'd call a mug someone who is gullible or that you'd take the piss out of. You could say you got 'mugged' off by someone for example, or someone is making you out to be a mug! Seems a little ironic to me that a few pros have gotten together to play some amateur fans and calling them mugs haha but all that aside, love the videos man and glad you got a win. I hope one day I can come to Vegas and you could mug me off!

  • @dayman2971
    @dayman2971 7 лет назад +1

    Andrew, so glad you are back from your time off because I didn't realize I had this vlog-sized hole in my life until you started posting again. Thanks for all you do!
    I have 2 questions for you:
    1) What is a normal amount to tip after a $1,500+ sized pot? I always struggle with sizing my tips so not to be judged as being too cheap yet not giving a ridiculous amount either.
    2) Do you keep any data on your win rates based on property played at, time of day, time of year, etc? You might already do that, I just wondered if that would be a way to increase your profits by some margin if you weren't. For example, maybe you find that you win 20% more playing at one property compared to another, or more between the hours of 8 pm and 2 am. It wouldn't matter too much with a small sample size, but with a few years of data it could be profitable information to have. I work with data in excel a lot so I'm always thinking about stuff like that. Might not be worth your time or effort, but just thought I would throw the idea out there.
    Thanks again for the great content you put out, good luck on the felt!

    • @AndrewNeeme
      @AndrewNeeme  7 лет назад +1

      Hey Man, tipping is a fairly personal thing but my standard goes something like $0 for winning the blinds, $1 for standard pot, $2-$3 for a medium to big pot, and $5 for a really big pot.
      I can filter by those different criteria but I don't out too much weight into it. Perhaps a little more so by property... but by now I can tell what's a better than average game and what isn't, and tend to go off of that more than anything.

      Funny you should mention that... my friend Ashley was at the table (not in the hand) and I texted her after the flop came down "I have a straight flush." She said I was grinning the entire hand. Could be a tell.

    POKER QUESTION: would you ever see someone in a 5/10 game, in this exact scenario, in your seat/pos but with Ax off (nut draw then blocker when miss) play as you did but as a bluff? I mean you got 2nd nut to fold so I would think that play would work enough? is that why 2p calls? (and BTW, what the !!! there was a pair on the board, so what is he saying, he had 89 with the 9c sf draw? or he flopped top two?? in all cases he has to fold that unless he thinks you are straight bluffing...so maybe I just answered my own question...)

      Andrew Neeme how much more likely is the HJ to call if the board doesn't pair? ...either way I don't know if I can fold the K flush there especially if I've seen good players bluff with Ac there or take advantage of the paired board to bluff. This makes me think I shouldn't move up ...yet

      nono namemo so Taylor is correct but it's important know at what point you're calculating odds. Only after a 10 or J comes on turn do the odds then change to a 3 outer (3/44) on river. But that 6.8% is only what woukd show for odds after the 6 outer hit on turn. Other crucial aspect is these calculators do their calculations knowing what the shown players hole cards are. If dealer were asked to compute odds not knowing hole cards - and not assigning any guess probabilities - he'd calc it after flop as 8 possible on turn out of 49 unseen and then times 3 outta 48 on river = 1.02% that board will run out 10,j or j,10

      At the moment, I'd prefer to have a little better sense of consistency with my play in some 5/10 lineups. But I think I'm slowly trending in that direction and will be looking at some bigger games, especially outside of Vegas.

      Don't go too big for too long, you're going to leave all us 1/3-2/5 recs in the dust. I wouldn't mind seeing a 10/20 game once, but I think I'd like a drunk 1/3 game better -- not you drunk, the rest of the table, or at least not you only.

    I only ever played at the Bellagio once. Since it was during the WSOP and all poker rooms were super-busy -- but *especially* the Bellagio -- they had overflow tables set up in the sports book on the right side going in, starting from more or less where you were sitting for the intro, I think. So I've still never played poker in the actual Bellagio poker room.
    According to the Internet, the odds of flopping a straight flush with suited connectors such that there are 4 possible flops resulting in that hand is 1 in 4,900, about 0.02%.

    Mister! I was wondering, how much is the rake in Vegas? Different in every casino or depending on the stakes? Maybe cool to tell something about and how it influences your play to a no rake homegame (if it unfluence your play of course) . Thanks!

    • @AndrewNeeme
      @AndrewNeeme  7 лет назад

      In 5/10 games they take $7 per player per half hour, and don't take anything from the pots. In smaller games it's usually 10% up to $5 maximum per hand. We're pretty spoiled in Vegas when it comes to rake compared to some other locations.

    • @TomvanOijen
      @TomvanOijen 7 лет назад +1

      Andrew Neeme Yes you are! In the Netherlands you pay 10% on low stakes with a cap of 10euro = 12 dollars so it influences the game and becomes not really interesting anymore. Thanks for the reply!
