Honestly this is my favorite of Donkey Kong’s themes. It sounds more goofy and fun than anything else, much like Donkey Kong’s attitude. He’s just here for a friendly boxing match (where he’ll break every rule in the book).
Fun Fact: They actually wanted to make Peach the secret fighter, but thanks the rule of "Men can't hit women!" it got cancelled & instead they made DK the secret fighter which imo was actually a better choice, because his boxing gloves in the Mario baseball games are now kinda a reference to Punch Out!! Wii!
@@SpiltMySquash The thing with that is, in the Smash games, you don't see characters getting bruised as the get damaged. In Punch Out here, characters get bruises, busted lips, black eyes, etc. So they couldn't do that on Peach because domestic violence.

Donkey Kong……Gah!! I can never avoid a knockdown when facing it. Winning isn’t hard, it’s winning without suffering any knockdowns that’s hard. He’s just that unpredictable. Others maybe fast but easy to counter, this ape just catches me off guard every time!!
Dk rule infractions: Brings a barrel into the ring, even if it's just for show. Eats bananas during intermission, no food allowed. Could lead to puking if you get too many gut shots. Is naked, he needs trunks and shoes, so 2 more violations. Good job wearing the gloves, but lose the branding, gorilla. That's another infraction Shows his back when he backflips or rolls, not good. Taunting is an automatic NO, Kong. Is a GORILLA, so that's animal cruelty,. even if DK chose to fight willingly. His backhand is done with his fist closed, so that's NOT an infraction, but his jumping slam using both hands to slam you is no. No attacks using both fists at once are legal. DK's hand slap is done with his hands open, so that's another nono. I hate to say it, but you gotta lose the tie, DK. No neck coverings, and that tie could easily become a choking hazard. Grooming his hair is a double nono, because he licks his glove before he does it, and saliva is a real threat to sanitation,.
Since Donkey Kong is in this game, there should be a couple more guest characters from other games in Punch Out Mario (obviously, he would be my first choice) Luigi Captain Falcon Link King Dedede Kirby (well, maybe Kirby in some sort of mech) Sonic (because why not?) Wario Waluigi Matt Tom Nook Yoshi Crash Bandicoot (Despite him not being mastered in hand to hand combat) Bowser King K. Tank Dempsey. He'd be easy to implement into Punch-Out. His title defense design could just be the Ultimis counterpart and he'd have green boxing gloves instead of brown gloves. Same goes for the other 3.
