  • In this video, I solder different size wires with a very well used Milwaukee soldering iron. I show temps and different soldering techniques as well. I also show how well the M12 battery holds up to being used for at least 20 minutes of use.

    Can you solder 8 gauge? Or is 12 as high it should go.

      I worked in car audio for over 15 years. I have soldered 8 gauge with an iron before and it is not the best tool for that heavy of wire. You will end up damaging the wire's shield and due to heat transferring down the wire. I found a soldering gun works much better. Just make sure to use the flat tip and not the pointed tip. I use a 200 watt Weller. If you're soldering a connector onto the 8 gauge wire, try a small butane torch and heat the connector, but be careful not to heat it too much.
