This is a really faithful 3D recreation/interpretation of the Space Station 13 formula. I like it. Very systems based.

I appreciate that you get to know the games you play before doing a series. I know a lot of people like to watch/do blind playthroughs, but that kinda stuff frustrates me more than entertains.

I don't like doing blind playthrus. They're lazy. Some games are very easy and I could probably play blind, but they also don't make for good series.

I like this alot it's like a way simplified version of space engineers and I don't like how complicated space engineers is
Then it isn't the game for you
This is much much harder and more complicated than space engineers, which isn't actually as complex as it looks
You start with a tracking beacon and module my number one tip set them up before you go mining especially before you get familiar with your area.

I believe it took some inspiration from Space station 13 with the control system. I completely forgot about this game.
It feels like a mix of Astroneers + Space Engineers with some Factorio in it and hints of Osiris: New Dawn
Seems like the biggest threat is still, getting lost and running out of power and air.
Wasn't familiar with this game... love learning about new games from your channel... my steam wishlist just keeps getting longer... expect I will very much enjoy this series... thanks in advance!

@@Rhadamant I've been playing research mode and it has been a blast. I somehow managed to develop faster than in my previous save, and I have made the advanced furnace and all the other goodies. I think having to research stuff makes you have to develop those kinds of things. I'm on my construction of my main base now.

Several years ago there was an extremely similar, but less cartoony, game like this. I thought it was the same one at first but I swear I own the other on Steam, but I don't own this, and I've got so many games I cant locate the other title.

Gotta love a game where you're advanced enough to go to Mars but don't have a compass.
To be fair .. .a compass wouldn't work on Mars anyway. Compasses require a magnetosphere and Mars does not have one.

Weird fuckin timing, I am currently in the middle of reading Red Mars, which is a novel about the colonization of Mars. It won a Nebula award, I really recommend checking it out

I would still prefer a Space Engineers style recipe or process list on the right when building stuff. You shouldn't need to remember every step for every device.
The developer has a discord channel you can probably easily find with google so you can bring it up with them directly. Telling me doesn't help =P

It really is fun, and it's totally multiplayer!
How sure are you that the light doesn't eat charge? The game looks like it's been patched since I last played it (merging cables! what) but I went from suit power lasting about a day to lasting multiple days just by restricting the use of my light. The consumption rates seemed completely insane to me (same as with the jet pack just sipping pressurized gas) but games are just like that sometimes.
i had questions about this too. i have noted while playing that light eats up most of the battery. and like you said can go for days with the light switched off. I havent really tried playing with light on recently hence no idea if that has been patched or not.

The Martian atmosphere has 1% of Earth's sea level air pressure. So it's more like it's made of 99% vacuum.
Well then by that math compared to Venus, Earth atmosphere is like 93% vacuum.
@@Rhadamant wrong math, but yeah. Venus has 93 bar pressure, so Earth's pressure is roughly 1% (1/93) of Venus (thus 99% vacuum to a Venusian.) Kinda funny how it also works out to roughly 100 times difference. My point was, it's not that it's made of CO2 that makes Mars' unbreathable; below 15 bar, even if made of pure oxygen isn't enough for our respiratory system to work.
Some dude tried to recreate the Martian pressure to experiment on how smoke particles move, in a RUclips video, his vacuum pump struggled to reach the mark.

Since we put the solar panels on top, why do we have to build our ground buildings according to the cardinal directions?
You don't need to, necessarily, but the farm needs line of sight with the sun, so if I built angled 90 degrees off the farm wouldn't get sunlight either during dusk or dawn.

I stopped playing this game after a bug which saw all my materials exponentially duplicating out of a machine. I had coal going everywhere.

And I think it is nice you didn't start on Europa, Europa is boring because it is too challenging and time consuming.
Europa is ...okay. It certainly does make it easy to get oxygen, that's for sure.

Indeed. Now there's a new difficulty called "Stationeers" which requires your visor to be up or your helmet to be off. It didn't exist when this series was mad.e

Yes. Just pretend its carbon and not coal. There's carbon on Mars.

Did they remove the airlock doors. This game just keeps getting harder and harder.
I like the concept of the game but sometimes it's to much work and thinking involved.
Then a patch and sometimes you have to start over.
I thought they added the advanced airlock to the starting kit.
Just gonna go all iron man and not use any of the good stuff and show us how bad we are.
Rhadamant the martian. All he needs is a 1x1 box to live in.
Airlock Doors are still a thing, but you start off with doors that are weaker.
This isn't a tutorial playthru, so initially I'll be just trying to short term survive .. but long term I can mess about and have fun with thriving.

Invar I find the hardest to make
Yeah, Invar with it's temp and pressure can be tough, for sure. I think there's a 'right' number of oxites/volatiles to make it easier, look it up on the wiki =]
I don't know why, but the "solar power panel" every time you're referring to it drives me nuts. I watch your vids pretty regularly especially your Stationeer stuff, but that just is like nails on a chalk board for me for some reason lol.
I have no idea why it bothers me, and am not saying that you should stop, just stating a random fact. Good videos as always man, keep up the great work.

I feel like you should treat this playthrough as more of just how you would play the game, without the basic commentary about what you are doing and how etc. considering you already have a basic tutorial series
That's what I'm going for. I'll remake the basic tutorials at a later time.
This game is too difficult for my brain to figure out and the tutorial doesn't show you anything. Its stupid. the tutorial is worthless. I thought that I would try this game out to see if I like it. I do like it but man its really crazy hard.
Once you understand the basics the game becomes less about being confused and frustrated and more about building really cool and insane engineering projects =]
