I just saw Doug in a 2020 commercial about trails and distancing. Good to see he’s still doing it. I told my wife I watched this show when I was a teenager in the 90’s. I remember he’d drive a Jeep Wrangler in some shows.
@@chirotouch I haven't done so yet but now I want to. I remember one show he had a product which was like a deck of cards of all the places he visited or spoke about.
I lived in Bay area until 2009. It is quite nostalgic to see these episodes!! I loved the dynamics in local attractions and local people. Thanks for uploading this. Hope you will do more!
@@WestCoastCultured I went back at least a few times a year consistently up until before the pandemic...not looking forward much to go back with all the issues there...thanks for the heads up, though
Growing up, my parents and I watched Backroads every week (and KRON 4 was the nightly local news) so seeing this was a good slice of nostalgia pie. I thought about the show earlier and all these years later that harmonica riff in the theme song still came to me immediately!
Thank you for the memories I remember watching him on knocking monthly when I was a kid he was filming episode in Castro valley California called Mac and muttley at a veterinary hospital in Castro valley on Redwood Road before they tore Down and made it into a BART station
i turned 10 years old on this day :). i also survived the loma prieta earthquake on october 17th, 1989 and was baptized at st elizabeth's church in san francisco's portola neighborhood where i grew up on silver avenue across the street from a bell market grocery store :)
Every time I leave the San Francisco Bay Area when I go to the other side of the United States I Really Do leave my Hart in the San Francisco Bay Area Every time I come home to Bay Area I am so happy full of joy I actually get down on my knees and kiss the sidewalks that's how much I love the San Francisco Bay Area
I may have an additional episode of this locally produced series that could be posted in the future; it is a matter if it will surface in the many unlabeled boxes of tapes in my possession. So far I've not been vigorous with posting additional videos of any Bay Area contents because of concerns of potential content claims by the local TV stations in the Bay Area. In other RUclips channels I've produced in past years, some posted videos dating back 25 years prior got hit by content claim from TV networks; resulting with the YT channels placed on probation. Your comment and viewing this YT is greatly appreciated.
This episode where he is at used to be a Naval base at one time I remember being there with my US Navy Dress blues I remember being taken to the base hospital because I had a heat stroke due to Navy dress blues the one thing I don't like about them they definitely absorb the heat from the Sun remember if you were your dress blues do not lock your knees or you will hit the deck hard and fast trust me I know

I moved to the Bay Area from Ohio in 1993 and this show was what taught me about my new home. The theme song will always be stuck in my head.
Thanks. I grew up in the BA (1960 to 2000) and really like watching BA Backroads.
Used to watch this every Saturday evening
Same!
Me too. I miss it and I miss the intro music. Nostalgic.
clairefph1 Yes indeed. Saturday evenings on Kron was relaxing
And I often visited the spots and areas that were featured on the show! I miss it a lot! Thank you, Doug, and the Bayarea Backroads team!!!

I never watched the show but that opening theme is so nostalgic
The show was pretty good. He would go around finding hidden gems and trails and beyond

Does anybody know the name of the theme song to Bay Area Backroads? I know it's Norton Buffalo playing it.
