The reason why things went wrong at Tottenham was due to years of zero investment into the squad. Pochettino was calling for a “painful” rebuild 18 months or so before they made the Champions League final.
His Chelsea exit was shocking. He had them playing good football by the end of the season, despite massive squad upheaval and board dysfunction, and the players seemed to really fight for him.

No USMNT supporter can be upset with this hire. You really can’t get better right now and USSF is actually taking this serious.

@@regpharvey lol They were seriously lazy. GGG was rubber stamped the second they made it to Rd. 2 of the World Cup. THEN wasted time pretending to review candidates with the inquiry/Reyna fiasco that was totally avoidable. The SECOND GGG came back in the fall, the side showed its stagnation with him. But what was particularly bad was the total and utter lack of discipline that was only getting worse.

USA fans better show up to support this massive change

Getting someone outside of the U.S. I think really helps with the selection of players who are in form. GGG would call up players who were not in form/ had no minutes played for their clubs. There will be no bias towards player selection and I think this hire is perfect for the situation the USSF has created for itself.

Stepping out of their comfort zone is really the big story, as mentioned. I NEVER thought they'd actually do what we needed.

This a huge coup by US soccer , he is the right person for the job not many good coaches available.
Success at the World Cup is a lottery, it’s highly dependent on the group you are in and having a good pathway to the final . With Mauricio, if they have a favorable group and good pathway to the final , they might reach the quarterfinals or maybe beyond . Only time will tell .

But the World Cup usually favors the host. they usually have the best path to the final. In this world cup, the top 2 finishers and the best 8 3rd place teams advance to a new round of 32, so USMNT has a really good chance of advancing to the final. On top of all that, all of the USMNT first 3 games in the group stage will be in California and Seattle, so travel will be easier. And if they win Group D, they won't need to travel far until the semi-finals.

To NBC Sports, invest in some real “on air talent.” This was awful.

The coach doesn't matter in the international game? So, the fact that the USWNT won a gold medal had nothing to do with Emma Hays being the coach? Come on.
